Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I emailed my DVC Rental Store travel advisor today to ask about my VGC res 9/13-9/17. She responded that "reservations through September 25th will be affected by the resort closure.". They are in the process of providing a full travel credit for my paid reservation (so that's good). So this looks like they do not anticipate opening before the 25th. Or "will be affected" in some way.
There is no excuse for Disney to be taking peoples reservations still for 9/16 forward then. They need to shut those days off.

Something is going on with Gay Days. I decided that even if the parks and hotels are open, I don't want to go for the whole weekend. If I decide to go, I'll go for a day and not stay the night. I already have a 2 night reservation so I went to cancel it and the cancellation link in my email isn't working. I tried going to the Gay Days website where I made the reservation and I don't see any choices to make reservations at all now. Everything was up and working last week when I checked my reservation status. I'm beginning to think they gave up and aren't going to have the event at all. I guess I'll watch my credit card statement for a refund. :(

EDIT: Finally was able to cancel. Turns out, my copy/paste of the cancel link had too many characters.

EDIT: The links have all returned now. I guess something was being worked on when I looked this morning.

I'm going with two DL first-timers (I've only been once myself pre-GE) so our firsts will probably be anything in GE in DL and Mission Breakout or RR in DCA. We have all been to WDW A LOT so they really want to see the rides unique to DL. Crossing our fingers for mid-October. I didn't know about the whiplash on Matterhorn the first time so I was really sore :P

When I took my BFF (now my 'Disney-Sistah') for the first time I asked her what she wanted to do first. She said all the 'first rides', meaning the FL dark rides. Our 1st was Peter Pan. When we exited the doors the CM closest to the door saw her '1st Visit' badge she said "Did you enjoy your flight?" she burst into tears and said "It was wonderful". The CM said "Wanna do it again?" and when we said "YES!!" she signaled the 'control' CM who sent us through again. It's one of her 'most favorite' memories and PP remains our first (and last) ride for our trips.

The DVC rental party is a 3rd party not at all affiliated with Disney. I'm not saying their date is wrong but just because their agent says something doesn't make it correct.

When I just checked it after reading your post, you could book all the hotels. It looks like they changed their website around, though, and it wasn't the same setup as before. There was a "Book Rooms" blue box in the upper right on the page about the hotels. If you click that, you're able to book rooms.

To be more specific, you go to the Gay Days Anaheim website. There are options including "Where Do I Stay?" for more info. When you click that, it takes you to a page that tells you they have a discount for the DLR hotels and there's a link ("Click Here") that takes you to the page that tells you about the hotels. It's on the page where you'll find the blue box in the upper right that says "Book Rooms".

Oh, man, my brain! I just realized this is referring to Gay Days. The info I posted is correct but I was thinking of Dapper Day so I had to erase some of my response. I'm going insane.

I just looked at it's there now! It wasn't there earlier today. None of the links were there, so I guess they were just updating stuff when I was looking this morning.

Since this is the reopening speculation thread, is it OK if I call my shot?

I honestly believe the state will allow DL to open when Orange County gets to Red. WDW opened at 25% capacity which is essentially the Red restriction (and it's working great). That could technically happen right now. If you go to the color map and hover over OC, you will see they met the criteria on 8/18 and we know they met the criteria on 8/25. That's two weeks and the guidelines say they can move to the next color after two weeks of meeting the criteria. The map is updated on Tuesdays, so the county should be red next week.

Disney is going to need some time to implement the park reservation system but Josh says the park is ready. I pick September 21, with CM previews a week earlier.

Didn’t someone post an article saying there’s a rumor of a September 28 opening? That sound about right if they get the green light sometime this week or next

IIRC, that was an internal working date that Disney was using to plan around, but it's not set in stone. I still think they'll open the gates 10 days after getting the greenlight (I think Shanghai did it in 9 days, my memory is hazy).

Isn't part of the new color system the requirement to remain in the color for 2 weeks before any new sectors are allowed to open, or does that just apply to schools? I'm so confused because that used to be the rule with the old watchlist for just schools, but it sounds like it now applies to ALL sector reopening once counties switch colors.

So, in this scenario, Sept 22 would be the earliest allowable reopening date.

Just schools.

Anybody else anxious about once the parks do reopen how quickly they could shut down again? I would be coming in from out of state and I could see Newsom deciding while I am on the plane "Oh by the way, theme parks have to shut down tomorrow."

Do you think that they should have to give a little bit of notice if theme parks have to shut down again, and what kind notice would be deemed sufficient?

I think once things start to reopen more, it will be difficult to shut then down again. But you never know with Newsom.

Every county in California is assigned to a tier based on its test positivity and adjusted case rate for tier assignment including metrics from the last 3 weeks. At a minimum, counties must remain in a tier for at least 3 weeks before moving forward. Data is reviewed weekly and tiers are updated on Tuesdays. To move forward, a county must meet the next tier’s criteria for two consecutive weeks. If a county’s metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, it will be assigned a more restrictive tier. Public health officials are constantly monitoring data and can step in if necessary.
OC is in purple now. They can go to red if they meet the red criteria for 2 weeks. They could then go to orange in 3 weeks, if they meet the criteria for orange right away (which they don't right now - just giving an example - you can't skip a color).

Thant's the way I read it.
