Disneyland Park TRIVIA

To what attraction was Walt referring when he said to a group of people

"Ladies and Gentlemen, there's an old saying in show business. If you're not ready, don't open the curtain."

Q-When the imagineers originally wanted to make the Haunted Mansion derelict and decrepid on the outside Walt said no, he wanted the outside to appear normal... how did he express his wishes on this topic?
He threw himself on the ground and screamed NOOOOO while he kicked and pummeled the ground?

Q-What has been altered from scale on the Walt-Mickey holding hands statue and why?
The height relationship between Walt & Mickey so they could hold hands.

This one hasn't been answered correctly yet (that I could see). Here's an a hint - it was during the 40th celebration, and there were so many choppers making noise we could barely hear the music.

Here's a question.

We are used to seeing Tinkerbell fly down from the Matterhorn, but one time someone else came down from the Matterhorn. Who was it, and what was the occasion?

I don't have nearly as much knowledge about Disneyland as so many of you do, but I thought that I had read somewhere that they made Walt's statue taller than he was in real life because he had always wished he was taller. Is that at all correct??

Randy Travis!!!!!! (weird choice of singers)

Good guess, but no. I think Randy Travis (if I remember correctly) sang from the top of the Matterhorn (I had forgotten that). But someone came down with much fanfare.

Would you guys like another hint? It had to do with a new attraction @ Disneyland that opened that year.

Indiana Jones?

I believe this is correct, but not positive. That is what I was always told.

I asked a question a few pages back that has not been answered correctly yet, so I am gonna post again:

As we know, HM (along with POTC) were originally going to be walk-thru attractions. What "land" was the "path" leading up to the attraction going to begin at/on?
(PP said NOS, that is incorrect)

I was at DL on July 17, 1995 (40th Anniversary) and I remember Randy Travis singing Happy Birthday from atop the Matterhorn. I do not remember anyone else making an appearance. Since Indiana Jones had been open for a few months already, I don't believe he made any appearance, but that could have happened on another day.

Here are a couple of new questions:

The area at the front of the park before the tunnels has a name that Disney uses. What is that area known as and why?

What attraction did Bank of America sponsor for many years?

What were the elevators for the Rocket Jets called?

What was known as the "crash pad" (backstage)?

What attraction did Bank of America sponsor for many years?

Was it America Sings?? That was a guess upon a little looking up it was Small World!

What did The Bell Company/Pacific Bell Sponsor???

On the "Friends" Statue, I noticed from the train Station Stairs at Night, that the height and position of Walt and Mickey creates the allusion of the two walking through the castle entrance. They are on scale to one another almost perfectly. I think this might be intentional, or a real wild coincedence.

I thought it was IASW, but I am drawing a blank.

Looks like this thread is slowing down a bit:worried:

I know, but there are too many questions out there that I just don't know the answer to. . .

Mary Jo, ok, give us the answer already about the Matterhorn flight on the 40th Anniversary. . . popcorn::

There is another besides Steve Martin. Kevin Costner used to be a skipper on the JC.

Heres another question related to a question already answered:

HM was originally going to be a walk-thru attraction, as was POTC. What "land" was the "path" that was going to lead to HM going to begin?

Nobody answered my question :worried:
But thats ok. I know when nobody answers a question I just wish the answer would be posted so I can finally know. So I will answer my own question, sorry.
Main Street!!!! Concept was a church on Main St. surrounded by a graveyard leading up the HM.

What year was the HM built?

I don't know if this is considered an attraction. But the Main Street Bank was hosted by BofA; you could open real accounts and everything. :thumbsup2

I must be suffering from pretty wild, "thought I saw's." I could have sworn that we saw Indiana Jones slide down from the Matterhorn, and I've been impressed by that all these years.

From what I could find was that he slid down from the Treehouse! Not quite as spectacular as the Matterhorn.

Sorry guys.

(Dang, I guess when I dream about Disneyland I dream big! lol)

LOL! I was driving myself crazy trying to figure it out...no wonder I couldn't find anything about it! Thanks for letting us know!

No guesses...anyone...anyone?

I will answer the other question that I asked....

When moving from Hyperion, Disney was toying with property in Burbank and Westwood (next to UCLA). Obviously, he went with the former.

When was HM built or when did it finally open?

Built.

Did anyone ever post the correct answer to whta BofA use to sponsor?? I do remember it being the bank on Main St, at one point as well, but I thought they asked for an attraction....
