Disneyland Park TRIVIA

I wish I knew some of these that are still awaiting an answer! Let's keep the fun going, we all have plenty of good questions left if we think about it.

Q-What is the signifigance of the flags hanging from the entrance of Frontierland?

Q-While riding Autopia you pass a small car, what is this small car a reference/tribute to?

Q-Why was Fort Wilderness dismantled?

dosent it have something to do with the year its based on?

Close, but not quite.

I found this blurb on LaughingPlace. I couldn't find any other information to contradict it?? :confused3

History
The first Candlelight Procession was held in 1955. It was actually a Choir Festival with individual choirs performing under a gazebo near the Jungle Cruise. For the next few years the ceremony consisted of participating choirs who performed around the hub facing the choir director. In 1960, Candlelight grew to 800 singers who followed the Christmas parades. Finally, in 1961 a narrator was added to the Ceremony. Past Disneyland narrators include Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, John Wayne, James Earl Jones, Mary Hart and, last year, Edward James Olmos.

The first one was held in 1955, but it wasn't called the CP until 1958; they didn't have a narrator until 1961.

So, when did it become a yearly tradition? 1955, 1958 or 1961? Since the first one was in 55, and it has continued every year since, I would think it became a yearly tradition after the first one? [not that I'm arguing with your incredible Disneyland knowledge] :rolleyes1

tofubeast and wendylady36 you are both correct... Scooby-Snacks for both of you!

Q-What famous Los Angeles area park is the place where Walt would take his daughters and where he started thinking about the concept of Disneyland? hint: Walt's Carolwood RR (train he had in his backyard in Beverly Hilla area) is currently in this park and is open to the public a couple times a month.

Q-When the imagineers originally wanted to make the Haunted Mansion derelict and decrepid on the outside Walt said no, he wanted the outside to appear normal... how did he express his wishes on this topic?

Q-What has been altered from scale on the Walt-Mickey holding hands statue and why?

I go into Griffith Park all the time, sometimes to go picnic and sometimes just riding through on my bike and I always think of Mr. Griffiths who gave the land to the city to create the park and Walt because in a small way Disneyland was conveived there! Oh and I always salute the CW RR as I pass by her, she was Walt's baby!

From davelandweb.com, "The Candlelight Procession began as a Disneyland Christmas holiday tradition in 1958, with a concept developed by Dr. Charles C. Hirt of the University of Southern California School of Music. It has continued every year since that time, usually with a different celebrity narrator each year, reading the story of the first Christmas. A Florida version of the Candlelight Procession began at the Magic Kingdom in 1971, moving to its present location at Epcot in 1994."

And from laughingplace.com, "The first Candlelight Procession was held in 1955. It was actually a Choir Festival with individual choirs performing under a gazebo near the Jungle Cruise. The first one makes it sound like there's always been a celebrity narrator, whereas the 2nd one says that didn't start until 1961.

So it could be either :confused3

And you know we both have incredible Disneyland knowledge!!
