We don't have any children. Me and my wife always visit Disneyland all alone. Next year we would like to take our 5 years old nephew with us for "Kids Free Season"! To go with him will be a new experience for us. Is there anything we have to pay special attention to? Do children get a present when we check in at the hotel? Any special meals for kids in the park? Though we were so many times at Disneyland there is so much we don't know about, because we never needed it. Are there any experienced parents who could help us? We appreciate any advice. Thank you!

When we checked into the DLH, our 2 got fun packs with crayons and name badges inside. We didn't get anything else. Meals were expensive in my opinion at 9€'s each but at least they ate them. I would recommend going to Buffalo Bill's as our then 3 year old loved it. It may be worth doing a character meal to get quality time with the characters.

Appreciate his response to the magic of it all ! You'll need hankies for IASW .I have cried watchng both my daughter and friends daughter have their first ride on this.

You make hae to do a little less each day than you are used to and stop more often.

I'd recommend Casey Jnr , Buzz and the Teacups for this age in the main park

I'm sure he would love the Mickey shaped pizza at Pizza Planet (which also has a play area :thumbsup2 )

In the studios I'd recommend , The flying carpet and the tram tour.

The Cheyenne hotel did not give us anything extra for the kids but they loved the theming :goodvibes

Definitely book a character meal. You will love watching the delight on your nephews face. Make sure you get an autograph book and a thick pen :)

Hi there -

I'd say that if you haven't been on holiday or taken him to a theme park before, it would be worth having a weekend away before then or maybe go to a local theme park. That way you can really get to know what he likes and make sure he gets the most out of Disney.

Our DD is pretty brave so at 5 loved BTM and POTC and was upset not to be tall enough for RnR or SM. Other children might be too overwhelmed by those rides. Our DD is also happy to eat in nice restaurants (all Disney restaurants give attention to children anyway) so we could eat in Cali Grill - other children prefer burgers etc. so it would be boring for them. Inventions is a good all rounder - good food and characters.
