Background Info: Me - Susan - Disney Obsessive
DH - Mark - Tolerates Disney but wants to live in Florida
DD12 - Kirsty - loves Disney especially stitch and pins

DVC members with more points than cash and leave time off work, so booked this trip as extra Disney trip as only cost was the ferry as hotel and park tickets included in DVC points.

Stayed the night at the Premier Travel Inn in Dover. Took a pleasant walk on the front. Had lovely meal in Brewers Fayre which inlcluded £5 off for guests of the hotel. Enjoyed the night and glad we stayed for this extra bonus to our holiday The restaurant had a Christmas tree up which really felt special.
Would definately do this again as felt so much more relaxing.

Very choppy sea for the crossing and Kirsty was sick (but doesn't want me to tell anyone!). Checked out the prices of the drinks and was good bought two litre bottles of Absolute Vodka for £20. Will buy rest on the way back.

Drove to DLP in about 3 hours. Petrol and Red Bull equivalent (dark dog and Burn) in Callais were very expensive. This bill came to 105 euros so almost as expensive as UK.

Wonderful and efficient check in. Put car in Vallet parking and so far do not know how much it cost as left it there for the full three days and was not included on the check out bill!!!

Was given a pack including fast passes. We went straight to our room and was very disappointed with the view. We could see the convention centre roof and that was it. The ice machine was not working either. I can drink my vodka at room temperature but Mark more fussy!!!!

Parks were very busy went to Studios and rode Rock 'N' Roller coaster as only 15 minutes wait. Pleased with myself for doing this as quite often leave this out when with other people not going on. Made our way back to Disney Village and ate at Rainforest Cafe. We are safari members but does not count in Europe! Bought a lovely Rainforest cafe Paris t-shirt for me for only 15 euros. Had leopard skin trim!!! Really enjoyed this meal. Our holiday off to a really good start.

Went back to the Hotel New York bar. Got one of those souvenier glasses for one of my friends and Mark smoked a cigar as not had one for 18 months. I had cocktails and we really felt relaxed. The final bar bill was 106 euros. During this time Mark got tipsy and went to reception to get a room up-grade. Luckily the hotel was fully booked so we must have saved a packet!!

Both Kirsty and Mark were very disappointed that the ice skating rink was not open as the information in the hotel said it was open from 22nd but when asked the CM was advised not open til 29th. I thought it was probably for the best as Kirstly only just had ingrowing toe nail operation and ice skating boot would probably not help!!!

Had lovely night in bar and staggered back to room around midnight.

day 2 next.

Many thanks for staying with this so as still finishing off the vodka as I write!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: that has to be the best way to write a trippie :rotfl:
looking forward to hearing more, well done for doing r&rc !

Great report Sue! :goodvibes What a shame about the ice rink - I'd have been disappointed, and I don't even skate!!!

It might be worth posting this on the DLP board too. :flower:

I've popped a copy of this onto DLP Susan :)

I love the first day. It['s the best bit of the holiday I always think (that's the child in me talking ;) )

Thanks for this Miffy. I am having trouble posting day 2 as it keeps saying it is a duplicate post! I will keep trying.

I agree - you see your hotel room for the first time, you go on your favourite rides for the first time, you see all the new theming for the first time, you see some parades and shows for the first time PLUS you still have lots to look forward to!

Very interesting Susan - thanks for posting - looking forward to day 2!!

Try posting with day as a title and then go back and edit it to what you want.

Great report and sounds like you enjoyed the bar :drinking1 :)

Still having trouble posting. I am going to attach Day 2. How do I change the title to up-date?

Here is day 2:-

We didn't wake up early enough and the parks were packed as it is half term.

We got a fasspass ticket for Space Mountain and then went to Big Thunder Mountain and used our hotel fasspass ticket. This was as good as always and then went back to space mountain. The standby queue said 90 mins and the fasspass queue looked even longer so we gave up and headed out of the park. Had an early lunch at Planet Hollywood and used Simon's book to get a discount. I bought another t-shirt here too and again used Simon's book to get a discount. Thanks Simon. I am wearing it now!

We looked around for something else to do and checked the Gaumont to see if any films were on at one of the 15 screens. As it is UK half term there was at least 50% English speaking people at the resort we were very surprised to be told there would not be one film in English during the whole week.

It was apparently too windy for the PanoraMagique Balloon to go up and unfortunately this was the same all of our stay. I was very disappointed as this was the only new thing I wanted to go on (apart from mission 2).

We walked around the lake as the weather was increadibly mild.

We tried Disneyland Park again an hour before closing as recommended by Simon and managed to go on everything we wanted. Space Mountain Mission 2. I am not sure how different this was from Mission 1 as I had my eyes shut again! It felt very jerky though. I was really pleased as Indiana Jones was going forward as previously it was backwards and this was much better. Kirsty loves roller coasters (especially the Hulk in US) Phantom Manor was excellent as was POTC which we went straight on. By now the park was shutting. We had not made reservations for dinner and Disney Village was packed. We managed to get a table at our hotel at the Parkside Diner which we really enjoyed. Very slow serving the drinks so was fairly sober tonight. Decided to order wine on our final night as if we have a bottle wont have to wait for the waiter for the next drink!!!

Final day next.

You can change the title by going to "edit" at the bottom of your post.
I hope Panoramagique is working when we are there - I really want to try it but it's probably unlikely at this time of year.

I really hope Panoramagique is running when I go, too (right before Xmas). It didn't occur to me that it wouldn't be running... but I suppose it's obvious now that I think about it! Quelle dommage - I was quite looking forward to it! :(

Great reports, Susan. Reading other people's write-ups always makes me EVEN more excited about my own trip! :goodvibes

Sue

I had the same problem when trying to post my trip reports. I don't know if the size has an impact :confused3 .I ended up doing the same as you have an added to my previous post.

Another great report Susan :)
Shame about Panormamagique. Mind you in the summer we only managed on our last day as I think if there is any doubt it is not open.

Thanks for the report Susan!

I won't be taking a copy of the Brit's Guide when we go in January - because I have more or less memorised it! It's a great book and invaluable to most visitors, especially when it helps you get some discount.

Its a shame about Panoramamagique and the skating rink, but at least Kirsty has a coaster partner who grits her teeth and goes for it!:bitelip:

I am surprised about films at the Gaumont. It would be great to see Disney films in English there and I'm sure people would go! It was very mild weather here in the UK also. We went to Legoland on Thursday and they closed the park just after mid day so I can imagine how busy DLP was.

Regards
Rosie

If you are planning on going to Planet Hollywood it is worth taking your book for the discount on the inside back cover :goodvibes

That is a very good point - but my DS and DD were not impressed with Planet Hollywood in London and refused to try the one in Orlando. DD made up a little rap along the lines of "It was blingin blingin, but the food was mingin mingin!"

I actually liked the food but found the music a bit loud for my middle aged ears!

Regards
Rosie

This summer was our first visit to Planet Hollywood and we would definitely go back :)

We were there from 25th to 28th and the balloon was flying every day ... may not have had passengers on it though ...

I am getting soooo excited about my trip, readings others reports makes the wait pass a little quicker!
