Disneyland or Vegas after cruise?

Perhaps this is the wrong place to ask, seeing as how most of you (myself included) are huge Disney fans, but...

I'm going on a cruise with my extended family for spring break 2016. 11 of us in total, including 2 grand parents and 5 kids. The cruise is a week long, but spring break is 2 weeks long. After our cruise (out of Long Beach), we're thinking of extending our trip by either spending a few days in Disneyland or hopping over to Vegas for a few days. Everyone in our group has been to both places, and we all love them both. Kids are: 15, 12, 12, 9 and 9.

Would love to hear the pros and cons of each destination.

I'm sitting in Las Vegas right now (I live here) and my opinion is that you should go to Disneyland!

With kids those ages, DLR is going to be much more fun for them than Las Vegas, honestly. The kid offerings here are just not that great, if you ask me.

I'm no kind of gambler so I would be bored stiff there. My vote is for DLR.

Would this be during Easter week? You might want to check a Disneyland crowd calendar before deciding. That aside though, DLR does seem better for the kids.

Disneyland for sure! It is closer to the cruise port, and way more entertaining for the kids.

What are some child friendly things to do in Vegas? I have no idea, but I imagine my one and only visit to the 'strip' and there were advertisements for prostitutes all over, billboards on trucks driving around, guys trying to push those cards in any man's hand. I would not think it was very child friendly.

In Disneyland, I think the worst that a kid would see is a few rude interactions between adult guests...

There really isn't that much to do in LV for kids.
There was a time when the city was trying to get family's to come but that really didn't work out.

There are so many things to do here other than gamble!

OP has said they've been to LV before and enjoy it so I don't see any point in telling them that their kids won't like it. I think it mostly depends on price, convenience, weather, and what your group feels like doing. Also, spring break crowds could be higher at DL.

Spring break crowds can be pretty heinous here, depending on where you stay.

Las Vegas local and Disney fan here!

Take your kids to Disneyland. You mentioned you were doing spring break--both locations are busy during spring break. Vegas has been getting alot of college spring breakers now that vacation areas in Mexico and Cancun are becoming more dangerous due to drug cartel activity spilling over into the popular tourist areas. So both Vegas and Disneyland will be busy with different types of crowds.

If you go to Vegas you will add hours of travel time to your itinerary, with all the hassles that brings. Long Beach is just closer to Disneyland.

Also, Disney is much more family and all ages friendly than Vegas. Yeah, there are a few things for kids to do in Vegas, but not as much as Disney, and they will soon get bored. And you really don't want to take your kids out on the Las Vegas strip at night when all the really interesting stuff happens, or put them in a casino pool filled with rowdy college students.
