Hi I've been on many trips to disneyworld and have always had a great time. This year I was thinking of going to Disneyland. I heard disneyland is smaller than disneyworld and I don't know if i'll be disappointed. I was just wondering what people thought of disneyland and the new california section. We are also planning to visit Universal and a few other places. thanks

I love Disneyland... It is in fact smaller than WDW, but it is still full of magic and still will be my top choice only because it is the one that started it all... I know for a fact you will not be disappointed with it... :)

California Adventure is a nice experience, however, as many people have said, it lacks much of the spark of Disneyland... I would consider getting a park hopper, and checking the new park out so if you don't like it, you can go on over to DL... By no means is California Adventure a bad park, but it's just a place that both my girlfriend and I agreed that one cannot go to continuously like DL or WDW... :)

Have fun!!!

Disneyland is a must do if you have never been and have the opportunity to do it. Disneyland is the true Magic Kingdom (though certain elements at WDWMK have more grandeur). Those of us that have done both, have far greater challenges in this type of decision.

If your plan is for a resort type vacation, you may want to limit your stay at DLR to 3 or 4 days and spend your time elsewhere, seeing what SoCal has to offer. Knott's is a great place to visit and has the closest water park to DLR. Walt's crew visited Knott's often (there are copies of the guestbook on the wall of the lobby at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restraunt) and likely took back some inspiration to the development for Disneyland from the "Original Walt."

Disneland is wonderful and the new Disneyland resort is neat. Be aware how ever that the Disney Property in Anaheim is about 80 times smaller than WDW and is locate in an urban area surrounded by business and residential. It is not anything like bein on WDW property. However you can still have as good of a time. :)

tinkerbellnut - you will be there during our DIS meet! :) Look for people with lime green ribbons. :)

I love both WDW and DL/DCA. The biggest advantage to Disneyland over Disney World is that everything is right there - you do not have to have a car or use Disney transportation to get where you want to go. If you stay onsite, you will walk right through Downtown Disney to get to the main park entrances, and they did an incredible job! If you stay offsite, you can still be so close that you can easily walk it - maybe even closer than onsite. You will have very little of the greenbelt that you are used to at WDW, it is indeed a very urban environment.

DCA is a cross between MGM Studios and a World-Showcase-like California exhibit. Ther are some amazingly good rides there - the California Screamin' Coaster is almost as much fun as RnR, and the Soaring Over California ride is a wonderful simulation of hang-gliding. I didn't try the Grizzly Rapids water ride, but my family tells me it is better than Kali River Rapids by far.

Disneyland itself is the original, and a few rides there are far better than WDW - Small World is really worth seeing, and Pirates of the Carribean is much, much better at DL. The Indiana Jones ride is awesome - like Dinosaur in technology, but much better theming. If you are with little kids, they will love Fantasyland at Disneyland - several more wonderful kid rides there than they have at WDW.

Hope we see you there, and that you have a great time!

teri, I forgot to mention as you said that everything is within very close proximity at Disneyland... :)

That's probably one of the greatest things about Disneyland...everything is so readily accessible!! :)

go go go!!

we went to WDW 5 times b4 we went to DL....and now we are going to both every year!

I mean I was at WDW 2day going...gosh I wanna go to back to DL! hehe

you wont be dissapointed....and if you are...just think..Walt actually walked down these place! and it will keep you happy!

DCA-I LOVED it! Im bet Im like DCA onyl fan or something....I wish I could go back right now! it was a great park!
