Disneyland on Labor Day, what to expect? Also, tips on traffic?

Hi all! So, the hubby and I are going for it and visiting Disneyland this Labor Day. What is everyone's experience with Labor Day crowds? Is it insane? I am basically just preparing myself for the worst.

We live 2 hours away (w/o traffic). How congested do the northbound freeways usually get on a holiday like that?

We are coming down Sunday for Walking with Dinosaurs, so at least it wont be a total loss.

Thanks all for your help!

We've stayed over at the hotels for the last several Labor Days and they aren't really that bad, at all.

Early Sunday morning, traffic is a mess until they finish the DL Half Marathon. Then, not so bad. The runners either fan out into the resort or head back home.

Monday day isn't usually too bad. Locals may and or may not show up and tourists head back home. Just go in knowing that you may get a little bogged down, but not as bad as you would think!

Last year we went on Labor Day and it was better than we expected! We went super early - the parks opened at 8am. We did the morning at DL, got on everything we wanted to, and then went over to DCA later in the day. It did get quite crowded in mid-to-late afternoon, but wasn't impossible.

Southern California Annual Passholders are blocked out on Saturday and Sunday, but NOT Labor Day, so I figure it can't be that bad, right? Thinking we might give it a try and run over for the early morning.

I'm hoping it's not too busy, we also live about 2 hours away and heading down there for the day on Monday Morning.

I was shocked when I saw this! I wonder why it isn't blocked out. :confused3

Anyway.... we're driving up from San Diego. Staying at Hojo's Monday night. We got a GREAT deal on a family suite last week. I was really surprised! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but all that tells me that the park won't be crowded. :confused3 We'll see. :)

Just pulled up to Mickey and Friends and it looks busy in the lot but not sure inside the park. It has been pretty empty the past two weeks. Will update once inside. Parking on the roof at the moment.

UPDATE: Yea it feels busy in here. Indy just went down. F! Viewing is busy. A lot of marathon prep outside the park. I know its not labor day but just giving a heads up.

Thanks for the update! It's good to know

We were in the parks today as well. Arrived at Mickey & Friends about 11:00 am. Lines not too bad for parking, but we did have to park on the roof. Headed down the escalator and were about 1-2 "stairs" from the bottom when the escalator stopped dead and pieces started to fly off. Luckily we were fine...I was afraid the guy next to me was going to fall on top of his stroller. I have no idea if anybody was hurt, but the escalators were packed.

Buzz Lightyear was about a 25 minute wait for us (standby) and we did FPs for the other rides we rode. A fair amount of people in the park, but not horribly crowded.

Anyone going to be at the park this week? Just curious as to how much the crowds die down after Labor Day and Back-to-School.

EMPTY today*. Both parks. :cool1: 45 minute wait for Indiana Jones, but almost all of the other rides we just walked on. It was wonderful!!! :dance3:

Why wasn't that in the news? :scared1:

We were in the parks Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Crowds were pretty good at CA on Saturday. To us it was very crowded on Sunday and Monday at CA and DL. Monday was the worst of all. We still had fun, but we are not used to touring at higher crowd times and it felt extremely busy to us. The lines for the bathrooms were the worst! Also, yesterday at DL, Indy was down most of the day, HM and Star Tours are closed and Roger Rabit was closed both times we went to ToonTown, so I think that made the crowds even worse.

Really?? That's odd. We have 3 young kids so we were constantly using the restroom all over the park. We never had to wait once.

We have 4 young kids and every single time the girls and I went into a bathroom on Monday there was a line.

Looking forward to our December WDW trip with LOW crowds :-)
