Disneyland O2 and EVC question

Hi -

Does anybody have any recommendations for ECV and O2 canister rentals?

I am trying to talk my mother into going to DL with us. I know she wants to go but is very scared because of her health. She has COPD, Diabetes, bad knees and is morbidly obese. She can't breathe and is always in pain.

About 8 years back she was still traveling and went to Australia one year and the to Italy the next. She had a chest cold the whole time in Italy and did not have much of a chance to do anything - though she did think the Dr that made the 'hotel call' was quite cute . It was very demoralizing and it was the last time she really traveled.

With her health declining she purchased a home near us. She is only 68 - but can't walk across the room without having to rest.

I feel that this is probably the end of her window of being able to travel with us. Her health is not getting any better.

We will be taking the train - so mom would not have to worry about altitude when traveling. Plus we could have her 02 concentrator and use it during travel.

While I know it is a little farther walk than some of the Harbor hotels - we will be staying at DLH. I figured my mom would be able use the scooter to go back to the hotel without us (if she is comfortable with that).

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #14 relates to DisneyLand and lists a couple of ECV companies which people here have used and been happy with. Whenb you contqact them, let them know if it may be necessary to have an oxygen bottle holder on the ECV, if necessary one can be temporarily installed.

Additionally I would suggest contacting her current oxygen supplier (especially if they have a social worker there) who will set up for oxygen to be provided at DLH and it will be seamless and work with the insurance company. This is a very common occurance for them.

Cheshire Figment Thanks for the post.

My mom contacted her O2 provider and is getting some sort of plug in tank that last 2 hours (she only needs O2 if walking) and is rechargeable. We would also take her consentrator from here.

If she does decide to go - we still need to get a scooter.
