My DD just came back from a walk and said that her family watched the grand opening of the new pool. Said that CMs took kids from the other pool and Monorail attired CMs led them up to the new slide. The first two kids received hats and had their picture taken. She unfortunately did not have her camera. She was trying to put my DGD to sleep. Will walk over from the Grand to get pictures later. The only downside...it's not the typical Memorial Day weather here in SoCal. A tad on the chilly side for us SoCal people..68 degrees :) with clouds.

fun ! I can hardly wait to zip down the slides and eat at the new restaurant.....plus a few adult drinks at the bar !

I wonder if they will let you take a drink onto the slide? Now THAT would be magical! :wizard:

Pictures from opening day.

Pool cabanas not available to rent yet. Pool manager said that the pricing is the same as the Grand Californian. $185 all day - 9:30 - 6, $110 for 1/2 day - 9:30 - 1:30, 2 - 6. includes water, fruit plate, safe, flat screen tv and seating for 6 adults.

And should you forget or run out, there will be a supply of swim diapers.

To me, it feels cramped. And especially since they have the other pool closed off from this one. In 2 weeks, this will be the only pool available. There is a small pool behind the slide. The cabanas are to the left of the slides. There are 3 rows of lounge chairs facing the slides. And the cutest jacuzzi that is a Minnie with her bow. I would have taken pictures but it was crowded with kids as well as adults. My DH was wondering how many more people could fit in there. Looks like it will be great as soon as they finish the area (CM said by year end)

That is awesome. I would love to rent a cabana one of these days. Now I just have to plan a trip so that we can enjoy it....

Looks like the slides do not end in the pool! Are they free standing slides like at the PP? bummer if that is the case.

I was wondering the same thing. We are staying there Aug 1st, so I was wondering how big the small pool is (especially if it is the only pool for the whole resort.) Any one have pictures of the swimming pool?

Only the longest slide, monorail red, end in a pool, a small one just for the runout. I'm not sure what you mean by freestanding, it's as you see in the picture above not attached to the hotel.

thanks for the post. I was hoping at least one ended in a pool. Sorry I was unclear. I just meant by freestanding, that it was not attached to the pool. That the structure could be located anywhere. The waterslides at the Hojos are like that. Glad to hear the big one ends in the pool.

Just to make sure you are clear. The one slide end in a pool. Not the old big pool or the new small pool.

So there is a small pool just for the slide, not to swim in. Then another pool (smaller then the original DLH pool) behind it. Is that right?

Yes. I haven't seen a picture of the small pool, they call it a plunge pool and it's supposed to be 4 feet deep, but have seen photos of it being built. Hopefully soon someone stays in the DLH in high up room and can supply photos looking down on the new area.

Here's another view of the slides with the other pool.

This is taken from the "bridge to nowhere". It's the bridge that will eventually go to the other side of the pools. The new pool goes under this bridge. The family hates it when I take pictures to post. I was going to take one of the Neverland pool on the other side of the fence that will be closed within the next few weeks.

Thank you Kikiq, your family might hate it when you take the pictures, but I appreciate it! We just booked at DL hotel for the 1st week of Aug (so I guess the other pool will be closed.) Too bad for that, but I guess you can't have everything! Oh and if you wanted to take one of the neverland pool to post i would love that!

WE are really excited to be staying at the DL hotel. :cool1: The monorail slides look great! :thumbsup2

Me too Judy, me too!
I would love to rent a cabana half day. It's on my list.
Thanks for the pics Kikiq. :)

For $185 do they feed the fruit to you too? LOL:rotfl:
