hi
Does anyone know the name of the store in Disneyland that sells personalized name painting in form of characters? I know it's near Matterhorn but I'm not sure what it's called. Also, I've been hearing that the one in downtown Disney is better that the one in Disneyland, is that true? If possible can someone tell me what the store is called?

It's not an actual store, per se, not in the "store front" definition at least. It's more of a kiosk. It's near the Matterhorn, by the smokers area, Fantasy Land side. I think it's next to the hot dog place, if I'm remembering right. I've never noticed a name on it, but I'm not that observant ;)

We did ours at the one in Downtown Disney, I think. It's another kiosk there, on the right side if you are going from the parks to the hotels.

It's not Disneyland employees that do the paintings. It's a company named.... Katzen, I think. (Could be wrong, though!)

On our March trip this year my DGD had her name done at the DTD location. They did a very nice job, looks great!

When I took my son and his family back in 2010, they had the grandkids names done. They didn't buy the frames with the art work. Just rolled 'em up and brought them home. They'd been sitting in a drawer ever since........

For the one done in March, it was my treat so I made sure to get the frame too. They have a variety of matting and a couple of frame styles/color. I'm glad we got the whole package. A 5 letter name, matting and frame was around $80 I think.

When we got home I had my DIL bring me the two done in 2010 and I went to Michael's for frames. The art work is an unusual size so you'll need a custom size frame. On sale with coupons, simple framing and matting for a 6 letter name was about $75 and a 5 letter name was $68.

It may seem expensive for the frame at the time but it's less expensive in the long run. Plus I feel the frame from Disneyland is a little nicer than the ones from Michael's.

^^^ Agree, it's a weird shape of frame, so just get the frame there. Otherwise it's going to annoy you when you get home, have to source out a frame, then pay around the same anyway.

Oh Ok thank you.
do any of you know if the kiosk in Disney and the one in downtown Disney charge the same? And how much would it cost for a 5 letter name with no matting or frame? (Sorry for asking so many questions)

How long does this take to do, btw? I guess I'm asking how this works- do you stop by, give them your name, what you want, pay, etc., and then stop by later to pick it up?

Timing was an issue for me that's why we did DTD. Plus I didn't want to pack it around or have to go back and get it. Having it done in DTD was far easier.
We stop by on the way back to the hotel one evening. I think they said to allow a couple of hours. We just picked it up the next day. I paid up front so my DGD could stop and get it without me.

We had a character drawing done in NOS and had to make a special trip to get it after it dried. That was a pain.... For me DTD was really convenient.

When I did mine I paid for it in the early afternoon and picked it up near closing. They ask what time you want to pick it up and they put that down. I think the quickest was like a couple hours.

It's a company called Kamen's Art. We order ours from them directly and have them picked up at the park. They have the contract to do the art there.

I think I'd do it in DTD, too, if I wanted to do one of these. I'd like to do our last name, but it's 9 letters long, haha.
