Disneyland - May 2014

We still got a ways to go :( I don't know if you were able to get your kids some shirts but I made us some for our upcoming trip (you can see them in my trip report) Super easy to do and a lot cheaper....I got all but one of the designs off Etsy and the other I made my self

Hi There, I'm joining in, as I'm planning a trip that will overlap with yours! We'll be there just from May 7-10, staying at the GCH with DVC points. It's our first trip to see Walt's place on the left coast and we can't wait! I was very excited to see that the hours have finally been released and that the rehab list is a little bit shorter than it was a few months ago. Totally bummed about Pirate's though. I have no idea when we'll get to head back out there, and I really wanted to experience that one. :sad1: I am PRAYING that Indiana Jones really does open up on the 9th so we can catch it before heading out. The schedule is still saying that, so I'm hopeful.

Your kids are adorable and I love the age progression pictures of your daughter. What a cute idea!

Look forward to hearing more about your plans, and about your trip as it progresses. We'll keep an eye out for you when we're out there!!;)

I checked out your report. The shirts are so cute!!!

Thank you! I'm also hoping there are some soft openings. I'm hoping the Little Mermaid, King Arthur Carousel, and Indiana Jones all open a few days earlier than expected!

My dh just reminded me that in exactly 1 month from today we will be on our way to Disneyland. I can actually start to think about and buy stuff for our trip! I bought some cheap ponchos for Splash and they will be good in case it rains... I need to buy more wet ones wipes and little stuff like that.

My sister had a new baby this week so I've been distracted with that. And Ryan had started a round of antibiotics a few weeks ago... He was back at the Dr. 2 weeks ago for an ear/sinus infection. I thought he might be getting better, but his nose never stopped running and he started coughing again last night. We went back today and he got a stronger antibiotic.

Fingers crossed this fixes it for good and we're all healthy for Disneyland!!

This weekend I've been doing a very dangerous pastime of mine. I have today off (I have every other Monday off work) and I've been doing some shopping. Disneystore.com has free shipping today with any Parks Product, so of course I spent an hour trying to figure out what park item I should get so I could get the free shipping for the kids t-shirts that were on sale.

So I came up with this for my dh. I realized after it's WDW, but oh well. It's cute and Ryan loves trains so he'll get a kick out of his dad wearing it!

So with that t-shirt I could get the kids t-shirts that were on sale and not have to spend $9.95 shipping. (I can't stand paying for Shipping!! Amazon Prime has spoiled me!!!)

For Casey:

and for Ryan:

I was also at Kohl's this weekend trying to find a new bathing suit. (Isn't bathing suit shopping the best??? HA HA HA!) Anyway, they had the cutest Disney clothes so I had to buy this shirt and matching shorts for Ryan!

I think that I have most of the clothes covered. The kids don't have to wear Disney shirts every day, but it seems funner when they do for some reason.

I was looking at the calendar and I only have one more day off before my trip! It seems so close yet so far away at the same time! It's fun to think that in exactly 4 weeks I'll be at the "Pirate Pool" starting to think about getting ready to go to Goofy's Kitchen for my birthday dinner! :goodvibes

I'm brand new to board posting but I've been reading so much online lately in anticipation of my trip to Disneyland May 3 - 10th with my daughter and granddaughter. I'm so excited to go and have been planning for over a year. We're staying at the Grand Californian for 7 nights with 5-day flex passes and I'll probably end up buying a single park, single day pass for my granddaughter and I at the end of the trip. We're going to celebrate her 6th birthday and we'll be driving down from northern California. I'm probably more excited about this trip than any other time I've gone. I've probably only been 5 or 6 times, but my last trip was 2 years ago when my granddaughter turned 4 and it was my first time at the Grand Californian, and I loved it so much that I can't wait to go back. Reading everyone's posts is so much fun.

I'm so jealous you are staying at the Grand! I want to stay on property, but it's always too much money.

It's so exciting how close the vacation is now!

So I made a silly little countdown calendar. Starting tomorrow we can start taking off post-its!! (Edited to add) There is no April 31! :rotfl2: I realized this last night so I had to take the one off and move all the other ones over one. hehehehe

So I just got some good news. I checked the Disneyland Map today and it says that the King Arthur Carrousel is going to be open while we are there after all! I'm so excited because it's one of my 3 year old's favorite rides and it's one that never has a long wait. Yay!!!

Where is that map that shows the ride closures? I've only ever used the Disneyland website calendar and checked the refurbishments listed for each day. I'm crossing my fingers so hard that Pirates will be open when we're there. It's my favorite and I will miss it if it stays closed.

But... I'm super excited - I just added an extra day to our trip so now we'll have 9 days in the magic! :yay:

9 days at Disneyland will be so much fun! How awesome!!!

You have to click the star on each individual attraction to see closures.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! :cool1:

We will be there May 10-15 and I was so sad about all these closures, IASW mainly, glad to see this is open at least!

I share you pain on IASW being closed in May! It's one of my absolute favorites--I've never been to Disneyland and not gone on IASW. I'm more disappointed about that then Pirates being closed. pirate:

Oh me too! Especially with a toddler being limited to certain rides.

Yeah, having the Pirates, Small World, the submarine and Little Mermaid ride all down at the same time feels like it's really going to limit the rides my 3 year old year old can go on. There's still a lot to go on, but those all seem to have the most manageable lines, so it's going to be sad.

Anyway, you know how something always seems to go wrong before vacation? My check engine light came on this morning. Rodents in the engine (probably a squirrel) chewed some stuff up. Luckily it's only going to be like $500 which included an oil change and a 60,000 mile checkup so it could be a lot worse. At least it happened now and not on the way to Disneyland!!! Now I just have to hope we can prevent them from doing it again. I've heard peppermint oil can keep them away. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

17 more days!!!!

Following along! That series of photos of your daughter is adorable and priceless!

12 More Days!!!

I only have 8 more work days until vacation! I have to go to Target this weekend to get trip stuff. I don't know exactly what I need yet, but I know I need some stuff. Wet Ones Wipes for sure and probably some trip snacks and definitely bottled water.

Easter was really nice and I taught my 3 year old to chant "Two more weeks! Two more weeks!" It was quite funny. He's been watching Pinocchio almost every night and is already talking about going to Disneyland to see Monstro the whale!

11 more days!!!

Tomorrow I can start looking at the 10 day forecast :yay:

And another major announcement. I'm officially an annual pass holder!! :cheer2: I bought the annual passes today. After thinking about it I decided to do the monthly payment plan and use the money I had saved up for it to pay down my credit card. It seemed like a no brainer since it's interest free and no finance charge.
