Disneyland - May 2014

11 more days!!!

Tomorrow I can start looking at the 10 day forecast :yay:

And another major announcement. I'm officially an annual pass holder!! :cheer2: I bought the annual passes today. After thinking about it I decided to do the monthly payment plan and use the money I had saved up for it to pay down my credit card. It seemed like a no brainer since it's interest free and no finance charge.

HOW awesome!! I wish we could get a AP!! But we are to far away

9 More Days!!!

Single Digit Dance, people!!!

I'm so excited!! Yet when it gets this close the days seem to drag on and on and seem to take forever to get here.

I looked up the forecast and for our first day there:

Doesn't get much better than that!!!! :cool1:

Oh me too! Especially with a toddler being limited to certain rides.
I'm bummed too, my two yr old can go on all three of those rides and pirates and there all closed. Kinda sucks but I know he'll be back wi me next year when my cheer team goes for nationals so I guess that's the upside is they won't know what their missing.

Cool for you! We will be there end of May, hoping for decent weather for our visit for our 30th Anniversary visit. Can't tell about the weather, California used to be so predictable. Certainly not this year! Have fun.

Yeah, it's always a bummer when favorites are down during a trip. Especially when you look forward to a trip for so long and then realize you have to miss your favorite. I'm glad you get to go again next year so you can enjoy the rides you'll miss!

You must be so excited! We're down to 17 days and I'm beside myself. Can't wait until we're in single digits. :)

I am excited!!! I have a lot of laundry and cleaning to do before we leave though!! :laundy:

Thanks!!!

I am checking the weather and still looking good! :thumbsup2

I have my 3 year old chanting "1 more week! 1 more week! 1 more week till Disneyland!!!" He's pretty excited, though I don't think he has any concept of time. He's been watching Fantasmic! on youtube all weekend. He loves the Pinocchio part and the Peter Pan/Captain Hook scene on the pirate ship.

The forecast cooled off a bit. I'm not complaining though! That will be great and I know my kids will still use the Pirate Pool!

Wow, it's going to be a cool week in May! I know forecasts change, but wow! I was not expecting that weather. My dh will be happy though. He hates the heat. I just care that it's warm enough for my kids to enjoy the "pirate pool"! We'll see how much it changes in the next few days. :)

Looks like you're going to miss that 100 degree heat by a few days too! I hope it stays cool thru the 15th!

Have fun! Not much longer!

Thanks. This is going to be a looooong week! But I'm really excited!

So the weather forecast has changed since this morning. And two different sites have different forecasts...

But both show as warmer than earlier! Looks perfect to me!!

I've also been reading about how busy the parks are this week. It makes me kind of nervous for next week!!! Oh well, nothing you can do about crowds but keep your fingers crossed!!

:dumbo::tinker:

3 More Days!!

Looks like there will be plenty of warm days to enjoy the Pirate Pool, but not too hot that DL will be miserable. :thumbsup2

Did I mention it's only 3 more days!!!!!!!!

:wave2:

Your weather is more like what they've been saying ours would be (May 13th-16th), but I just checked ours again and it'll be in the 80s when we're there. Ugh. Previously the forecasts were saying 75 everyday for us. We don't like the heat, but we'll be in Disneyland! So we'll deal with it. LOL.

We're leaving tomorrow!!!

I woke up and went for a run first thing. Since then, we've cleaned out the car, hosed off the stroller and have done a few loads of laundry and finishing up a few more. I'm tired and it's hard to be excited when there's still so much to do. :laundy:

Casey really wants to get a pedicure (she's never had one) so we're going later today and I also want to get her some sandals. I also have to get a few more snacks for the trip.

I guess I should stop Dising and start accomplishing stuff! :drive:

:wave2:

Wow, so it's over already! How does that happen? :confused3

It was a fun trip, but oh my... it was so crowded! I had read that it was crowded the week before, and I can say it was definitely true for my week as well! :crowded:

I don't know what it was.. but I would guess it's the combination of all the rides being closed (Pirates, Small World. Indiana Jones, Nemo Submarines, Gadget's Go Coaster, and Alice) with the fact that it was really nice weather (not too warm, not too cold!) and so many people reading how it's better to go when school is still in session. Sunday-Tuesday were really crowded and it was a little better Wednesday and Thursday and we were only there for a few hours Friday morning before we left, but you could tell it was already really crowded.

I wasn't a good trip report writer and didn't take any good notes or remember to take any food pictures, but I'll do my best to remember the highlights. :goodvibes

I'm excited to read your highlights! We were surprised how crowded it was too! I think that many ride closures makes a huge difference. :(

looks like you were there the same time as us (we were there May 4-7th). the weather was AMAZING, thank goodness (i too was double checking the weather report few days before, couldn't believe our luck..we got the nice weather sandwiched between two heatwaves!), but yeah, it was definitely crowded and not a "ghost town" as all the crowd predictors said it would be! DCA seemed far less crowded than DL, at least on Monday (we spent almost all day there). Tues and Wed we spent a lot of time in Fantasyland and WOW i was super shocked how incredibly crowded it was, even right after rope drop. I guess the downside of good weather was that it was probably a bit more crowded than usual. I do wonder though if people just take their kids out of school? You'd think in early May kids would be busy studying for end-of-year tests and stuff, but guess not!

I too was a bit bummed about all the ride closures (especially the Little Mermaid..i was so looking forward to DD riding it but it opened days after we left), though to be honest, we did have so many fun things to do and it was a great trip!!

Sunday, May 4- Day One

We left the house at 8:15 on Sunday morning! Off to Disneyland! :cool1:

It was an uneventful drive, with 0 traffic getting out of the Bay Area. The kids are always really good in the car and we listened to a Ramona Quimby book on the way. We stopped at 11:30 in Kettleman City for gas and food. We were planning on going to In & Out, but it was too crowded so we decided to go to Carl's Jr and it was deserted! Ryan had a little tantrum about his hamburger so we ended up getting him another as we were leaving through the drive-thru. After one bite he declared "All Done". 3 year old's are so fun, aren't they?

We got to the HOJO at 3:30. MIL was already checked in... Grandpa dropped her off on their way home from a Las Vegas/Zion trip they had been on the week before. We checked in our room (which was connected to MIL's) and about 30 minutes later we were crossing the street to go to Disneyland!!!

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Disneyland was crowded. SOOO crowded. SOOO many strollers. But the weather was nice and we were in Disneyland, so...

We decided to start with Winnie the Pooh since there's never really a line. The sign said 20 minutes.. "Ugh, 20 minutes for Pooh?" I thought. It actually only took 10 and Ryan loved it.

After that we decided to go check out Fantasyland because Ryan has been obsessed with Pinocchio and especially Monstro the Whale. We got to Fantasyland and it was just packed. Everything had a 30 minute+ wait. We did manage to get a few pictures of Monstro at Ryan's request.

We decided to bail and have dinner at the French Market. All the adults had the French Quarter Chicken and the kids had the Mac and Cheese I think.

We also stopped at Tarzan's Tree House before leaving for DCA to get away from the crowds!

So because we purchased our annual passes online we had to get them at the ticket booth in the Esplanade. This was the longest line we had to wait in ALL trip. It took over an hour to get them... and there weren't any issues. The line was slow... took 45 minutes just to wait our turn and then when it was our turn it was another 30 minutes. It was annoying because we already paid for them online, gave them all of the information,etc... and it still took FOREVER to get. Disneyland really needs to expedite this process because it was maddening... it shouldn't take 30+ minutes to get your passes when you've already paid and everything should already be taken care of. Ok.. end of rant.

We got into Disney CA, and it was crowded, but not as bad as Disneyland. We did the River Creek Challenge so the kids could run around and work out some energy.

And then went over to Bug's Land. The first ride we did were the Bumper Cars. It was the first time Ryan was tall enough to ride them! He loved it and it was fun. Casey was upset because she wanted to try to drive a car by herself. It was harder than she thought, so she and Dave went again while Nana, Ryan and I did Flick's Flyers (no line!!) Next, Ryan wanted to ride Heimlich's Chew Chew Train so we met up with Casey after their bumper car ride and Casey had a churro. It was her first Churro and she fell in love. I think she asked for one every single day after that, but only ended up getting one more. While we were waiting in line (15 minute line) we saw a rat run next to the line, up the bamboo and over the wall. Ewwwww. :scared1: I don't like Rats!

We did the Ladybug Spin Cup thingy and then we decided to say goodbye. Dave and I were going to go back later and wanted the kids to get in bed.

Ryan was funny and was all ready to get in his jammies, brush his teeth and say goodnight. I was a little worried he wouldn't go down easy. He must have been tired though, because he went down WAY easier than at home. He barely fit into the porta crib we got for him. He's in a twin sized race car bed at home but didn't mind the smallish crib at all.

After we put them back in bed, Dave and I went back to Disneyland...
