Disneyland is moving the western security check to allow Downtown Disney

There will be a walking option, that is pretty much assured. The question is how it will work and if you will use the current pathway that uses Disneyland Drive, and then under the Monorail tracks to the east side of DtD, next to the Tram area next to World of Disney. Or will it be through the current DtD parking lot area to the east side of DtD next to the ESPN Zone. (And if Disney chooses that one, what will happen when the new 4th Hotel starts construction in the area.)

Alas, we have very few "facts", and a lot of speculation (What If's), and with the OC Register article saying that the new checkpoints will start before the end of the year, well, time will tell.

That actually sounds like a good idea (routing through DtD to the ESPN Zone security check). It's probably a bit longer than the current route I'm guessing and it's possibly the reason they moved the walking entrance by the drop off zone next to the structure. If this happens, it'll be interesting to see if this route is ever faster than taking the tram. Certainly, now, if you have to wait a couple of trams, walking is much faster.

Not sure if this is mentioned here but we were at DLR yesterday. The construction at Mickey and Friends is well underway. (Why they decided to do this during the holidays is beyond me.) We are a family that always walks in and there is now a much longer walk as you have to walk back towards the structure and then around all the construction. It's getting more and more difficult to even get access to the parks. I understand safety is important but the logistics are now becoming a huge pain. Between this and the price increases, we are considering finally giving up on our AP's.
