I'm new to these boards and already and picked up some great tips... We are planning a trip Nov. 13 -16th for my DD 8th B-day this will be our first family disney vacation, we also have a 4 yr. old DD. Will there be specials offered for Value season and if so when will Disney start advertising those? Should I wait for those specials to come out or book now? I am planning on doing a Costco package. Totally torn over where to stay, either DLH or GC. Since this is a birthday trip I am leaning toward DLH...

Also how will the crowds being at that time?

Thanks,

Beth

Weekends are usually always busy, but Friday morning/afternoon and Monday should be very quiet.

Sorry, can't help with any info on travel specials. Won't most travel agents book a package, and then re-book it later at a cheaper rate if one becomes available?

I just wanted to say that we will be there that exact same time for my DD's 8th birthday! Her b-day is November 16th. We went in November 4 years ago and the crowds weren't bad at all. Looks like you are also from AZ?

Kayla's mom!! It really is a small world (no pun intended). Zoe's b-day is 11/14. Where are you staying? Have you already booked the trip?

We do live in Phoenix and we are planning on flying since we are only going for a couple of days...

Woohoo, I'm another from the super hot desert known as phoenix!

Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents about the hotels. I would recommend GC with having kids because of the ease of entry into the park. It is so wonderful to be able to go on the rides like Grizzly River Rapids and then run back to the hotel to change, especially when its cold and you don't want to be walking around in wet clothing. DLH is also much farther away from the parks, which might be quite a walk for your 4yo - even with the monorail. The monorail is pretty close to the DLH, but IMO, the GC is nicer, newer, and more convenient! If you can swing it financially, the GC is fantastic. However, this is coming from someone who hasn't stayed in the DLH, so take it all with a grain of salt.

As for specials, I'm not sure if there will be any available that time of year. Once the current offer expires (5 for 3), Disney might have another offer, but there isn't a set date or anything of when that offer will come out. You can always re-book if another deal comes out that tops what you already have. Or if you're lucky and get a pin code! Check out mousesavers . com for more info on current discounts.

Yes we are already booked at Hojo's. We always stay there with the entertainment rate! :thumbsup2

ITs going to be crowded pretty much all the time thanks to the Cheap AP's and payment plans.

we went in Nov 2008...we arrived the Sunday before Vet's Day and stayed until Sat...and let me tell you...it was BUSY on Vets Day and the day after and the day after and the day after...seriously...I was stunned.

I don't think we will do that time frame again. LOL!

Good Luck!

Veteran's Day is about the time they start all the Christmas entertainment. The parks tend to be very busy on the weekend, but the weather is usually nice, so it is bearable.

I'm in Phoenix too!

We went about that time in 2007 and stayed at the DLH for my birthday. It's a great time of year, the weather was great and the Christmas decorations are all up. We didn't have any problems with the crowds that year. If you do, just make use of FP and go early in the mornings, then take a break in the afternoon when it starts to get more busy, then go back in the evening.

We love both the DLH and GCH. MY order of pref would be GCH then the DLH.

We are planning a weekend in DL Nov 28th (after Thanksgiving)... How will the crowds be during the inbetween holidays time?

Usually go either beginning or middle of November and let me tell you it has always been HOT WEATHER!!!! It is actually a great time to go, Christmas decorations are up and the weather has always been awesome!

Last year I went on Friday, November 14, and it was amazing. The weather was great, in the 80s, and everything was all decked out for the holidays. But the best part was NO CROWDS. The longest wait we was about 15-20 minutes for Nemo. Everything else was walk-on, the type of crowd where if you ask the ride attendant if you can stay on for another ride, they let you!
