We've gone twice now in early June and I like going at that time. Actually, I prefer going Tues-Thurs the week of Memorial Day. Or if I can't do that, the week after that.
Grad Nights are going on at that time and on Grad Night days, it results in more teenagers roaming in packs. We haven't had issues with that. We kind of get around it by going on the big E Ticket rides early in the day...think rides like Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Star Tours, Matterhorn, California Screamin'.
I like this time of year for a couple of reasons:
- longer hours of operation
- fireworks are scheduled each night
- weather is nice...but isn't hot & muggy like July and August are. June usually has slightly overcast weather with clouds/marine layer in the morning and it burns off in the afternoon. Not too hot and not too cold. You *might* need a light sweater or sweatshirt but that would only be for evening after the sun goes down.
- most of Southern California schools are still in session.
What you WILL see is a lot of Utah and Arizona license plates in the parking lot because a lot of Utah and Arizona schools end their school year just before Memorial Day. So on week days in early June (aside from the Grad Night packs of teenagers) in the middle of the day, you get a lot of families from other states who are there on vacation.
On week nights in early June starting about 5pm, you can also see a fair amount of So Cal locals (i.e., people who live within an hour's driving distance to DL) at DL & DCA in the evenings. That population of visitors usually will be there on an AP and are there to have dinner and go on a couple of rides, maybe see fireworks before their So Cal AP blocks out later in June.
