Disneyland Hotel worth it?

If you split the nights, won't it be a pain to re-pack all of your things, and to have to take the time to pack again and move? I would rather choose one or the other.

Not at all, as I said we've done it at least 4 times, not a big deal at all IMO.

Labor day is the disneyland 1/2 marathon. I agree the rates on Disney's site as well as others like Costco are really high!

I actually just placed my deposit through get travel (the rundisney travel arrangements) and saved quite a bit.

same with us. We always split our stays during our week in Hawaii. As a child it was because we would do a budget stay at a condo and then 1-2 nice nights at a resort. As an adult I book 2 different resorts on different sides of the island just to change things up. Everyone always asks if it's a pain and it really isn't. We don't meticulously repack or anything, just kind of throw everything together and move - excited for the next stop :)

I debated this very question and it really came down to wanting to have the Disney resort experience and magic. My kids are 18, 11, 6, and 5 and repacking for us after driving all the way from WA would be too much to ask. We like to find a place and stay put until we are ready to leave :) We will be there from Aug 26-Sept 1st, so I am hoping to miss the majority of that marathon crowd:) good luck in whatever you decide!

We have a four year old and it was worth it just because if his age. Seeing characters in the main lobby each time we walked by it and the convenience was great. The room we were in was nice, but nothing fancy. We could watch the fireworks from our room the night we didn't go into the park to watch them. That again was nice with a four year old.

Do you have to leave the park in the middle of the day to go pack up your things and move to another hotel?

Where do you put your things from 11:00 check out to 3:00 check in ?

I look at my budget all the time. The money is a BIG issue for me. I book the hotel, then watch for the Special Offers to pop up.

We found a room and tickets plus WDTC perks at the GC for January 2012 and booked it in July 2011. In November when the special offers popped up I called and saved money.

My grandkids love the Disney hotels! Everything from the atmosphere to the beds. But it does come at a cost.

Since I travel alone with the grandkids my husband likes the idea of us being on property for the security they provide. He knows he doesn't have to worry about us.

Find the best way to make it work for you and your family and GO FOR IT! I'm sure you'll be happy you did.

To make packing easier... You might co-pack. You and your husband's things in one bag for two days. One two day bag for the first hotel and another two day bag for the second hotel. Same for the kids. It might make the move between hotels a little easier.

Whatever you decide being at Disneyland is such a fine time!!! Enjoy your trip.

My son and I stayed for 3 nights a couple weeks ago. Having stayed at all 3 Disney property hotels I would have to say that the DLH is my least favourite, reno and all.

For our family the cost of staying "on site" is well worth it, I love walking through DTD to the parks and not down Harbour, in fact the only time this last trip I even saw Harbour Blvd was when we were on the monorail. That being said the walk through DTD from the DLH is far, or at least it seems far to me I prefer the walk from the PPH and GCH.

If your kids are older and will use the pool at the DLH then I think it's a good choice. The pool was the one thing I disliked the most, with a toddler, the pool area wasn't the greatest, especially since I was travelling alone. The entire pool is 4ft deep and the only area with shallow water is around the watersides and though they have a toddler size slide if you're a single parent you have to get doused with water to get your child to the top of the slide then walk back getting doused with water so you can "catch" your child at the bottom. Luckily the CM was nice enough to "watch" my son while I went back around to catch him.

Not sure if that helps in your decision making at all. But enjoy your trip whatever you decide.
