Just curious which tour you would recommend as the most convenient. I would like to stay in the Sierra Tour but since we have only a standard view and not a pool or downtown disney view I am thinking that might not be possible. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. It has been 4 years since we were there as we have been going to WDW instead.

FYI, we've only stayed in the Sierra Tower during our numerous stays at the DLH and we've always paid for a "standard view" but have had wonderful views of either the pool or DTD. I always thought that you couldn't get a bad view from the Sierra Tower because of it's location, but some people on this board have said otherwise. Maybe we've just been lucky, but as I said we've always gotten great views from the Sierra Tower while paying a standard view rate.

Hopefully others can give you info on the other towers.

The lower floors in the Sierra Tower, on both sides are considered standard view rooms. I agree with Sasha, you cannot really get a bad view in that tower. I have had second floor rooms on both sides and considered them both to be nice views, certainly better than a parking lot. The Marina has standard views as well, some look at the parking lot but still have views of the parks from that same view so that one is not bad. The lower pool side rooms in that tower are also considered standard. The Bonita has one side with crummy views of a parking lot. But I still love that tower, especially if I get the other side (standard view) and can see the fountains and part of the park. I guess my long winded reply is that there are three towers, with six possible views. All six sides have some standard views. And only one side (Bonita, parking lot side) is really not that great. So your odds are good! In six stays I only got that side once, in my pre disboards days when I didn't know better and didn't ask what I was getting and could I be moved to another area.

The Sierra is the most convenient, but really all of them are pretty close together and therefore not much more in the way of walking to the parks and pool area.

I love the DLH, hope you do too!

Last week, I made a reservation for a standard view room at DLH and was told by the CM that I could only request Bonita or Marina tower and not Sierra tower for the standard rate. I have seen many posts, however, where people have received a room at Sierra with just a standard room reservation. They've also mentioned that it depends on the CM and some will let a person make a request for Sierra and others won't. Has anyone else encountered this? Have you just been given the Sierra tower or was it a request with a standard room reservation? I have been trying to decide whether to request Bonita or Marina since I thought Sierra was not an option, but maybe it is ?:)

Well I cannot say for sure, but I am almost postive that the lower floors of the Sierra are standard view rooms. It would seem ridiculous if you paid for a view room and got say the second or third floor! For example, on a standard rate (with me requesting Sierra) I was placed in Sierra, second floor and while I was on the DTD side, what I really saw was the palm trees near my window. Which was fine, but there was really no view of DTD let alone the parks. So had I paid for an upgraded view, I would have been complaining very quickly! So I am surprised that they told you all rooms in Sierra are upgraded, and when I stay there in January and am paying for an upgrade, I had better not get anything lower than the fourth floor! In any case, there have been three times I paid for a standard rate and received the Sierra Tower. And at least two of those times I did specifically request that tower and was not told I couldn't.

As for what you should request, I was just say Sierra and see what happens. The best thing to do is when you get there, nicely ask the cm at check in what they have available. They will be happy to scout around and tell you whats available. The only thing you really don't want is that parking lot side of the Sierra. NOt that it will ruin your stay, but its the only side of any of the towers with nothing Disneyish (be it pool, park or fountains) to look at. But the rooms are just as nice as anywhere else in the hotel!

Thanks everyone. I think I will go ahead and request Sierra towers and just see what happens. We are celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary so perhaps that will help if they make a note of it in our reservation. Any other thoughts?
