I went ahead and tentatively reserved a room at DLH. Based on advice on the boards I was hoping I could get a lower rate by calling DL Reservations directly and asking for the AAA rate. I was quoted $212 when I saw that I could book through AAA or Expedia for $205, and was told that a room in the Sierra Tower would be $243, even though other posters have said that this was an option even when booking the cheapest room. I am wondering about other peoples' experiences with booking through DL Reservations???

Don't really know about the Sierra Tower, but did you look into the option of getting one AP for someone in your party to qualify for AP rates? Don't know if it will be worthwhile for the dates you are traveling but it might be good to check.

I called to get a quote with the AP rate and it came up $2 less per night than the AAA rate so I think I will pass, unless some really great AP rates come out later in the summer (we are planning our trip for late August). I am planning to get the SC City Passes since they include exactly what we want to do and are a great deal, just waiting for the new ones to come out.

I think the word is out about Sierra tower.

It used to be that you could make a request, and although they tell you up front it is not guaranteed, we always got our desired location.

The last two times we have stayed at the DL hotel - we requested Sierra tower and ended up over in Bonita. Both times were in Jan. 2005 and at the lowest AP rate available for our dates. (Of course we checked in fairly late both times as well.... may have had something to do with it)

I guess they figured if so many people prefer Sierra - maybe they can get more $$ for rooms there.

Thanks for the replies. Which is the Bonita Tower? The one to the south seems a little further from the pool. I need a large room with a daybed or room for a rollaway for my adult daughter. Also, a vanity outside the bathroom would be nice since there will be 5 of us getting ready in the morning. What location should I request if Sierra is not an option? Do all the rooms (other than king) have queen beds or are some of them double? Can I request a coffeemaker at no extra charge? Any help would be appreciated!

Here's a layout of the hotel. You check in at the Marina Tower, and the parking for the DL hotel is to the right of Marina Tower. There is also a tiny parking lot to the left of the Bonita Tower.

The Sierra Tower will either look over the pool area, or out to Downtown Disney & the two parks.
