Hi everyone,

We are going to be in Anaheim for 3 nights in June (19th , 20th , 21st). I am travelling with two other female friends (we are all over 40 ) and we would like help finding a clean , fair sized room within walking distance to Disneyland.
We are all planning in staying in the same room with a rollaway( 2 doubles and a rollaway). This is due to financial reasons of one of the ladies travelling in the party. We will be very tired upon arrival as we are coming in from Australia , so maybe a hotel that might let us check in a but early would be nice if possible..mainly just a CLEAN, fair sized room that is not too expensive...

I have found rates at Carousel Inn at $75

Candy Cane Inn $89 in one of their bigger rooms with 405 sq ft but am not sure about the rollaway in this hotel

Tropicana Inn at $75

I like the Howard Johnsons when we stayed there two years ago but their prices they are qouting right now for that time of year is over $100 a night and that is over the budget..

ANY advice would be greatly appreciated about these or any other suggestions of places to stay..

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Leslie

That is odd that the HOJO is so high!! I checked too!!! Try calling the Candy Cane. It is a really nice motel and has a good breakfast and is an easy walk to the parks. They say the rololaway will fit in the room. 405 square feet is decent for a hotel room so you should be okay.

That's too bad about HoJo, that's what I was going to recommend. I think the interior hallways make it a little safer, although the area in general is pretty safe.

We stayed at Carousel Inn once and liked it. We had a large room too. It's also right across the street, so the walk is very short.

Another one I liked but might be above your price range is the Best Western Park Place, right across the street too. Wouldn't hurt to check on the price though.

Thanks for the replies!

I was disapointed that the Ho JO was priced so high..I am hoping that the rate might come down ..I really liked the place when we stayed there a few years ago.

The Candy Cane is looking good right now..if I can find out if there is a charge for that rollaway or not ..I found the $89 rate on Travel hero and it did not state if there would be an extra charge for it or not..might put us over the $100 as well..is this hotel as nice as everyone says?
and is it a long walk to Disneyland , just in case we want to walk it to the park?

Carousel Inn seems to be our second choice because of price .Is this a clean hotel ? I have seen it from the outside but never been in.Also I am concerned again with the size of the room.

I think Tropicana has been eliminated from our list as i read some recent reviews of this place and I get the idea that it could be a little dirty , cockroach problems , etc..

My last thought on this is to wait to a closer time and try Priceline ..

Again ANY help would be greatly appreciated !! Suggestions on a good clean place to stay would be fantastic! I have been left in charge of accomodation for our trip and I would really hate to disapoint them

Thanks again

Check www.candycaneinn.net. They did say a rollaway would be $10. Tax in Anaheim is high so that would put you over $100 a night. You can walk to the parks in 7-12 minutes depending on your speed and one stop light. I took their shuttle a couple times and the drivers were nice and they have their own shuttles. If it is busy there is a small bus. If it is not busy they have a van.
Priceline works great but I personally do not use it at Disneyland because you can get a place that is a bit farther away and not nearly or at all walkable. The hotels people have gotten have been fine so if you don't mind the shuttle all the time, Priceline would be good for you.

Thanks again for the quick reply...

I had a look at the website that you posted for the Candy Cane Inn.It looks fantastic! I will have to go back and look more closely at Travelhero's extra charges to help me figure out the total cost..

Have you stayed at the Carousel Inn at all before?? how would this compare??

WE had figured into our budget a rental car because we wanted to do other things besides Disney ..we know that this is going to be a fairly busy time because of school letting out in JUne...so we were planning on doing a few other things in the area to get a break from the crowds..isn't there a shuttle service or transportation center in Anahiem that goes to other areas , like shopping malls , etc??Maybe we do not need the car ...

Also thank you for the tips on Priceline hotels..I am not sure if we would want to be totally reliant on shuttles all the time to get to Disney , and really do not want to pay the parking fee ..
Thanks again

I have not stayed at the Carousel. My brother did many years ago and said it was fine. I personally like a bit of ambiance at my motel so have not tried it. I have never used any of the busses at the bus center that take you to other locations. I know there are allot of them. While I love the Candy Cane I think it will come out around or above $100 and in your position a car would be great. You may want to look at some of the other places. Best Western Park Place Inn, The Park Inn and the Desrt Inn and Suites are all fine places too and you may be able to get them for less and keep the car!!

If this shows up twice ...forgive me !! My reply disappeared when I went to post it , so I am rewriting it ..

Again , thank you so much for the helpful info !

We have checked most of the other hotels that you suggested already ..They are over the $100 price at this time , but maybe they will go down a little later on..

The hotels that we have found that are within our budget at this time are Carousel Inn , Tropicana Inn , Fairfield Inn and we are keeping Candy Cane in there as a possibility just because it is very nice...
I also found online a place I know nothing about except that it is not within walking distance of the parks..Anaheim Islander Inn & Suites... the thing that caught my eye was that they had a 2 room suite with three beds( 2 doubles and 1 queen) for $85 on travel hero..but again , I know nothing of it and it could be a rundown place..I may post seperately to see if anyone has feedback on it ...

maybe we are just trying to early to get good rates.. not sure..

Thanks so much for all your help , you have been fantastic!!

Myself and two friends stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn last January in a deluxe room. It had 2 double beds and a hide-a-bed and was $89/night. The room wasn't spectacular, but it was clean and large. The hotel is right at the crosswalk to cross to the DL entrance, very handy. I know they offer AAA discounts if you're a member.

Try checking www.travelweb.com also. I have had very good luck booking good hotels at pretty low rates with them, though admittedly I haven't used them for a Disneyland vacation. I booked at a BW in WDW (the BW Lake Buena Vista)...normally it's supposed to be at LEAST $100, and I got it for less than $80.

Okay, this is an edit...

I just checked the travelweb site, and here's the link (hope it works)... http://www.travelweb.com/booker/AppLogic+booker.hotel.book.AvailResp

It has a rate at HoJo as low as $80.10 if you're a AAA member, and an $89 standard rate. Sometimes they only have a limited number of rooms at those rates. You might want to check your other hotel choices on that site too.

Not sure if they will give you a rollaway bed but the Holiday Inn at the park had a rate of $49.80 per nite for the week of June 11-17, 2004. Its 1/2 mile from disneyland and has shuttle service.
Good luck and have a wonderful time.
