"Disneyland Handcrafted" documentary now on Disney+

Watched it this weekend (too cold in MA to go outside), it was really interesting! Amazing how fast they built an entire theme park and now it takes over 2 years to build one area/land! Little to no safety requirements - how times have changed! I love this type of documentary, one of the reasons I keep my Disney+ subscription (even though it is on YouTube as well).

I finally watched this - really cool to see. It's amazing how they did things back then with so little safety protocols! I mean, they just grab on to a crane and get hoisted up or walk high steel like a balance beam. It's incredible that there weren't any injurious accidents (at least none talked about and it's mentioned that they hadn't had any). When you watch them, it seems like a bunch of guys just playing rather than working, which appropriately fits Walt's style. They trusted guests more too - if you fall in the moat it's your own fault! Those Autopia cars that were not on a rail...different times. And, of course, there was the throughline that Walt was crazy and that he was spending too much money and that this will never work - it turned out okay though I guess. 😉
