Hi there! We are going to Disneyland next month and plan to attend the halloween party. My 5 year old son wants to go as Batman. It seems kinda wrong to wear a Warner Brothers costume at Disney.

For thos of who attened, have you seen kids dressed costumes like Batman, superman, xmen, etc?

I'm sure disney won't kick us out, but just curious.

Also, the pictures of kids in costumes look almost professionally made. I've seen are so very elaborate, well done makeup and stuff. I'm spending most of my money just getting there and going to this party, I was hoping for not spending a lot of cash on costumes too.

Thanks for any insight you can give me!

This was not the Disneyland Halloween party, but rather the Walt Disney World party. My 6 year old son went as Ben (from Ben 10). No one said a word about his wearing a non-Disney character costume. And he even had one CM address him by name and wanted to know where Gwen was! (could not convince my 11 year old daughter to dress up as Gwen).

I would think he would be fine! :thumbsup2

When we went a couple of years ago, we saw lot of superheroes! No worries, especially if your 5 year old is wearing the costume. I wouldn't think that ANYONE (parents, kids or CMs) would think twice about what costume your child is wearing, as long as it is appropriate. The most important part is that you are having fun! :thumbsup2

ETA: Funny story... maybe 6 or 7 years ago, my DH and were at DLR and DH decided to wear a Mighty Mouse t-shirt to the parks one day. I was horrified :scared1: (I was seriously embarrassed) because he was wearing a different mouse to the home of THE mouse. But when we got to the parks, nobody even noticed except for one CM who told my DH that he has an awesome shirt on. The point is, even though my DH was old enough to know the difference between Disney and another brand, no one cared. :goodvibes :lmao:

Batman is totally fine! When we went, I saw a lot of little boys dressed as superheroes. We also saw a wide range in the costs of costumes as well...anywhere from super inexpensive to super elaborate. So he'll be perfectly fine! :goodvibes

Disney should be flattered that Batman wants to come visit their park! :rotfl:

Yes, any non-gory costume is just fine; I'm sure I saw some non-Disney superheroes last year. The pictures you see of kids dressed up elaborately are probably the ones where the parents went to substantial effort (and in some cases, expense) in hopes of getting those perfect photos.

I am guessing your son doesn't care if his costume is elaborate or not. In fact, I'd guess he'd probably rather have a costume where you won't worry too much if he wants to run around and play in it. And I am guessing he probably doesn't want professional make-up, either. :) (And I know when I was growing up, I hated when my mom tried to take my picture!)

Disney DOES own X-Men and the other Marvel characters now. But I'll bet most guests and many Cast Members don't even know which superheroes are technically "Disney." When my mom called a relative to try to buy souvenirs for her daughters, the relative replied their favorite Disney characters were, I believe she said Shrek, and she definitely mentioned Fievel. Well, that saved my mom some money! :rotfl: Another dear friend of mine said the one Disney princess film she didn't like was Anastasia!

(Jernysgirl, that's too funny! When I was younger I carefully planned my clothing to make sure I didn't wear a Warner Bros. shirt into Disneyland...)

This is good to know because my son wants to wear his Harry Potter costume to the party. I was worried that people would tell him that he is in the wrong amusement park!

But the costume is easily packed in our luggage and he looks so much like the real Harry when he has it on, it's uncanny!

I wouldn't worry about it, as last year I went to 2 MHP parties back to back. The first one I dressed as a Canucks fan. The CM's got a major chuckle out a woman decked out in a Hockey jersey. The second time I wore my Hockey Night in Canada jersey, and had a blast. You will find a wide range of costumes, from just a funky t-shirt to people decked out in outstanding ball gowns that are stunning to see. This year for the MHP we are going to on Sept 30th, we are going as Canucks fans as a family (I went to the parties on my solo trip last year, and can't wait to experience it with the family). Have a really enjoyable evening at the MHP. The fireworks are worth the admission for the party alone.

Your little one will look great as Batman. We went to the party last year, and it seemed like every other little boy was dressed as either Spiderman or Harry Potter. :)

We attended the DL Halloween Party last year.

My 5 yr old dressed up as a Jedi (Obi Wan) and my 7 yr old dressed up as Harry Potter.

Have fun!

It's Halloween. I don't think anyone really concerns themselves with what company owns which characters, etc. Even if you got a comment from a CM, it would most likely be in jest.

All the Halloween parties are about the fun of Trick-or-Treating and dressing up at Disneyland. :)

This year we are going as a Pirate, Quorra from Tron Legacy, Chell from Portal 2 (video game), a Victorian-era vampire (think Bram Stoker's Dracula, young Gary Oldman character) and a Ghost Bride. Only one Disney owned character in the entire bunch. :D
