Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

It also needs to be something that I can't just stencil in later. CrD and corral assignments just affect where you can put yourself before the start. Being able to add in a C2C signifier only means that someone will try and copy it.
An entirely different bib/ color (like the Dopey/Goofy) would work - but then they would likely have to have a Dumbo/C2C bib too.

I would actually hate this because I don't want to wear that wristband around for two days before I run the half. Lol. I like what someone above suggested about marking it on your bib at the expo so that they can check it when they're handing out the medals after the half.

Oh trust me they were extremely annoying especially if you were like me and running all 3 days of races. So I had to get those put on on a Thursday and they had to stay until Sunday. I thought one was bad in 2016. Two was a whole new level of discomfort 🫠

It's sadly the most efficient way even if it's annoying. You're quickly identifiable, it's the hardest to replicate to cheat the system, and there's less room for error. I different colored bib sounds great until you've had the wrong one printed for you and gave to deal with that fix. A missing wristband mistake can be more easily and quickly corrected.

We'll see what they do, but I have a strong feeling it'll be wristbands again :(

I think the easiest way is for someone there to check your bib number after running the half (or 10 miler), and see if you ran in Disneyland. Or, at DLR, to see if you ran a qualifying race during MW the week before.

Or they could do the checks now, "sandam ran in MW, and is running here, put a check mark for a C2C medal"

This might also be why there's going to be a different C2C medal in Disneyland vs Walt Disney World: so they don't have to ship the leftover medals from left coast to right coast! :D
Last time they took your photo at bib pickup both times and compared that with the finish line photos. I'm sure it's all facial recognition now since the last time I did Coast to Coast was 2017 but that was the process then.

This just seems like it would create a really long line at the finish line to get the C2C medal. Logistically this sounds like a nightmare.

They do this for Goofy & Dopey though? Scan your bib & look at your picture? Do we think there are more people doing C2C in any race, than Goofy or Dopey? I've done Goofy twice and there were no wristbands they just scanned my bib and looked at my pic to make sure it was me.

It worked very smoothly with no delays at the finish when I did it. As @SheHulk mentioned, too, they used to do this for Goofy and Dopey during MW and I never experienced any lines or waiting there either.

I did Goofy in January and my picture was never taken at any point nor was my bib scanned at the finish line of the marathon. They just looked at my bib and handed me the Goofy medal.

I think this was a result of the pandemic shifting things? A lot of stuff that happened before just didn't after. Did they even check if you did the half?

No! I was honestly a little shocked. It seemed entirely on the honor system as long as you had the Goofy bib on. I think it worked the same for Dopey as well.

I'm also wondering, does having the virtual medals being given on nothing more than just paying for them means that they don't care as much on the non-virtual front?

I don’t remember having my photo taken for either of the two challenges i’ve done post-covid. Maybe they change things with CTC but it’s entirely possible that they don’t care as much or don’t have enough volunteers/workers to manage this.

I've wondered this too. It seems like offering the same medal for virtual as you offer in person is less than ideal. I wish they either limited the virtual races or had different medals for them.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but I noticed today that some of the artwork in the preorder merchandise has been updated. When the races first went on sale, there was absolutely no artwork. Now there is now concept art for the Spirit Jersey, Loungefly, and some of the pins/bundles. The replica medal pin is still a mystery as the medals haven’t been revealed. It’s fun to see the artwork as it expands on the general artwork themes that they’ve already shown.

Where can the preorder merch be viewed?

Discussed back on June 20 in this thread 😁: https://www.disboards.com/threads/disneyland-half-marathon-2024.3905456/post-64881036 but never hurts to note again for people that missed it the first time it was mentioned!

I hate that it's all so cute. I've been going back and forth since June what to do. I'm wanting things I didn't think I'd want.

Yup! I was surprised since I thought there’d be more checks, but when I crossed the finish line I was sent into a separate chute for two more medals. That’s it.

C2C in 2015 involved some sort of checking at the finish, but that’s the last time I did it so I can’t remember if it was pictures or POT for the previous race or challenge

Before, it was more complicated as the year went on, as the races at both WDW and DLR piled up. But with only one race at Disneyland, it will be easier to check. At Anaheim, all they need to see is if you completed MW. At Princess/Springtime/Wine&Dine, all they need to see is if you finished at Disneyland at this one race.
