Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

Everything opened in the middle of the night because the registration page was in maintenance mode. I was really sad.

All races for Springtime Surprise and DL1/2 opened at the exact same time, and then they all closed at the exact same time, which I thought was very weird.

Question about the expo and merchandise.
I notice there’s an option to buy various things like jackets and pins etc. but no pictures yet. So I don’t really want to pre purchase something without seeing it.

If the expo opens Thursday or Friday and I go on Saturday, is there a good chance they will sell out of a lot of merchandise by then ? I know with a lot of Disney products they sell out quickly but wasn’t sure about running stuff? I remember 80s nights few years back- the line just to buy a pin was like an hour and then they sold out anyway. Is it better to just buy it before and then pick it up at the expo ?
Thanks
In my experience at all 3 Star Wars races at Disneyland, the jackets were long gone by the time I got to the Expo in the early to late afternoon on Friday. Pins and shirts were a toss up. Given that this is the long awaited return of runDisney to Disneyland I would almost assume that very little Disneyland Half Marathon merchandise will be available.
Thanks for the replies. So as far as pre- ordering goes, do you just have to chance it that you’ll like the design ? How close to the expo do they reveal the merch designs ?
Essentially yes. You have to hope you like the design. Merchandise reveals will be no more than a week at most before the Expo, sometimes less. Furthermore, not all the merchandise will be revealed. About the only thing we'll have a very good idea about will be the medal replica pins and possibly the race weekend pins.

Booked my flight this morning with credits through Delta. Prices were fairly decent from Dulles. Also went ahead and booked a refundable hotel that I will likely end up changing at some point, but wanted to have something, and it's walking distance.

I got DH and I round trip from Newark to LAX with jetblue for $388 each. Was able to use points and it came to 32,000 points roundtrip each. Arriving Friday, leaving Tuesday. I looked at United too, they are crazy.
I had a travel certificate from a flight they cancelled on me, and found a $500 polaris (!!) one way from EWR > LAX. I had to go for it! I'll probably be slumming it back home but I've never seen a fare so low for that flight, even if it's one way. Wild.

I haven't had nearly as good luck booking flights for my dates.

I'm not 100% certain how I'm going to schedule the trip (either a) do all of marathon weekend, fly home, work 4 days, then fly EWR->SNA/LAX or b)do MW marathon, fly MCO->to SNA/LAX), so I booked a Thurs-Mon EWR-SNA ticket using United points. Both United and Jetblue for the same flights in cash would be $767.

Newbie planning question- seeing the recent conversation about hotel walking routes made me realize (again) how little I know about the area, and how staring at the map is never going to be a substitute for local knowledge.

I’m looking at the most budget-friendly options I can within walking distance- I just need somewhere safe and clean to sleep. Of the currently available options I’ve narrowed it down to Travelodge DL Dr., Super 8 DL Dr., Days Inn DL Park, Eden Roc, and Clarion. They are all at different points in the area, would you consider them all safely walkable? I don’t mind distance, I just don’t know the highway crossing possibilities of each spot. Am I correct in guessing that there will be many (thousands??) of people out walking the same way at the crack of dawn? Most of the references I read about in reviews are about proximity to the park itself, which is also nice but not the only factor.

I’m searching other groups/reading reviews, but if anyone has strong feelings about picking one for the accommodations I’d love that advice too. Thanks!

Also while I’m here, that Jeopardy category was fun 😊
I stayed at the Super 8 for one race weekend, had a car so can’t comment on walking logistics but I would describe it as “fine”. Got the job done, no complaints.

We are doing a bunch of flying soon including going to HW in June. So after the HW we plan on using points. So we will be waiting to book our flights. Denver to CA there are a lot of flights esp on United so we should be okay waiting longer till June.

Cash only. DVC members can book cash only starting on March 15 by calling member services.
Yeah, I'd love to switch my stay on the 15th to the new studios but...is there a date limit here? At one point they have to prioritize point bookings over cash, unless they don't even start sales for some time?

Editing to say I know about declared units and all that, but this just seems odd to me? Not gonna complain if I can make it work!

Also look at which hotels are on the ART bus route, as they have offered free transport to the expo and to the race starts in the past. My last runDisney races (Avengers Weekend 2015) at Disneyland, I stayed at Four Points and took the ART shuttle to the expo and to/from my races, and had no issues timing-wise.
