Just imagine how much it would cost her to take the whole family to WDW:scared1:

I thought of that too . . . but it didn't sound like WDW was on their radar. They drive from Utah.

Actually--it was a bittersweet story . . . . her husband was ill three or four years ago (and had been for years) and they (the Grandma/Grandpa) wanted to take the whole family to DL, so they planned a trip . . . . but when the time came, he was too ill to make the trip and they decided the rest of the family would go and he was put in a care facility while they were on the trip. He died soon after they got home.

This trip is the first they've taken all together since he died. I almost cried. (and then she told me about the $30,000 and I was shocked!)

I was figuring--I used 90 points on a three night stay at the Grand Californian. Even if they needed 10 rooms (that would be less than 3 people per room) that would be 900 points. At $94 a point (if they bought SSR) that would be $84,600--I think she anticipated that the trip would be closer to $40,000 this time . . . . so for a little more than twice what she paid for one trip she could have had 47 years of trips (of course there's annual maintainance fees to pay--on 900 points would currently be around $4500). But it doesn't sound like money is an issue in that family . . . . I wish I had gotten her name--really I bet she has no idea about DVC.

You can get them from Guest services?
And do we have to wait until Saturday?

I've never gone to guest services, so that's a good thing to know, especially not having to wait in line.

Stacielee: just checking--you got my PM--right?

Yes, I did. The only ones I'm still waiting on are: Cristabel (disney-inspired), Linda (lulubelle), Shelly (castleeto), and Amy (seattlebusymom). I need your full name, mailing address and email address, by Tuesday. If you've decided not to participate, please let me know as well so I'm not waiting for your information.

You're waiting on lil' ol' me  Sorry, I have so many things going on through PM that I thought I already responded, I'll PM you right now!

::yes::

My "home away from home" at DL. :goodvibes

Thank you. It's wierd, we never venture out of the Best Western family. I'm sure I'll really enjoy HoJo the night I'm there so I can give my parents a good review when I get home. It's super close, too!

Another question for my fellow So. Cal ladies, when does traffic "start". I will be leaving my college and heading to Disneyland via 5 freeway South, around 12:45pm.

Will I hit any major traffic?

I just booked a GCH room at 24 points. So she could do it cheaper depending on which 'season' they go. Actually with banking and borrowing she could have done it on 300 points .. but what fun would that be? I'd love the excuse (and income) to have 900 points! Your guide would have loved you for a referal like that!

Hi all, I'm doing major research for our Sept. trip to Maui. I never thought I could obsess over trip planning as much as I do with DLR. Guess I was wrong. . . ;)

I was just in Maui (and the Big Island) in February. I've got some maps and magazines, even a fish guide you can wear arouond your neck when you go snorkeling. I'll bring it Thursday so you can do even more planning. :goodvibes

Where do you go to school? My daughter goes to Biola.

She's way closer to DL than me. Right now I'm at a community college (College of the Canyons, graduating this fall!) and transferring to CSU Fullerton in the Spring 2009.

I wanted to go to Biola but it was way too expensive for us.

Hello! I plan on packing Thursday after work. I just hope I remember everything. :rotfl:

Then I picked out what clothes I was wearing on what day for our trip. I went on Word and made myself a daily park schedule, including ADRs with what I was going to order and cost. (Of course I might change my mind and order something else when I get there. ;) ) And then under my daily park schedule, I have a list of everyone's cell phone numbers.

:goodvibes

Can you come to my house and do the same for me????:rotfl2: I am so behind. I'm glad I am off on Wednesday so that I can get that stuff done.

are you a pin person? (I think you were) Are you bringing pins?

That reminds me. I have 10 or so (I'm not quite certain) pins that are up for grabs. I'll bring them to the first dinner and you all are welcome to them. Whatever is left I'll bring to the second dinner.

Oh my...reading these posts I'm feeling a bit behind in preparing. I guess I'd better start out just doing some laundry. :laundy:

I've got to get me ready and the kids bags packed so my husband can just pick up and go on Friday when he drives down to Anaheim. Packing is my least favorite part of the trip. :headache:

Just four more days!
