Hound--FYI..I am the OP and that wasn't my question

Your'e the OP? Hmmmm. . . thought the person who started this thread was Rascal1003. Seems like this thread was hi-jacked a couple different times. ;)

Don't let em scare you off, Hound! :hippie: It'll take me a LONG while before I start calling it MM. It just doesn't sound right. :rolleyes1

Dangermouse-Yes, several of my posts have been hijacked .

Doesn't matter, all the input has been great for me because I'm gaining new and more info as I read so keep it coming.:thumbsup2

Wee bit confused, as original post is by a Rascal1003. :)

Sorry Hound. On Disneyland's website when planning a package vacation, they are indeed calling it MM
One Magic Morning** admission into Fantasyland in Disneyland® Park; valid with Disneyland® Resort Park Hopper® souvenir tickets of 3-Days or longer.

And "DLR" makes much more sense, unless a person is ONLY going to go to Disneyland (that was me on our first two family trips! I said "pshaw" on DCA, what a mistake!). But just like oldtime WDW vets calling the MK "WDW" (or is it opposite"), things are hard to let go of.

We are also going to be first timers to DL we are staying in Palm Springs and going to be driving to Anaheim to visit. Are there better days of the week to visit we will there from May 2 to May 9th. So any day is good, we will probably dedicate 2 to DL and 1 or 2 to San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park any other Local areas a must see for those of us who have never been to the West Coast, mind you we have a 4 year old princess with us. We used Tour Guide Mike for WDW. Any other tips for DL park tours ? I did go to the archive posted above THANKS !
Early May is off-season and will likely have good weather with lower crowds. Being off-season there will be some drawbacks of which you should be aware. See "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

Even more confusing is Disneyland Paris. "DLP" can mean the Disneyland Paris park or the entire resort which like DLR has two parks, a DTD-like place and six Disney hotels. Some people call it Disneyland Resort Paris or DLRP. And DLRP and DLP mean the same thing - except when they don't, LOL.

People have gotten pretty good about using DLR to refer to the resort and DL to refer to the park. And with Hound around to enforce things I am sure everyone will get better. And when Hound gets bored he needs to go over to the DLRP forum on DIS and try to get the DLP vs. DLRP thing straightened out.

We usually like to get to the opening of the park, do they have special opening ceremonies like at WDW ??
I have never seen a morning ceremony at DL like I saw at MK. They do choose a family of the day at DL who gets to be help with the countdown and be in the parade that day, but that is about it.

I will be a first timer as well in August and am so lost in planning as I know nothing about California!!!

We're starting out in San Fran and then onto Hollywood and then ending the trip in DL.

I'm also debating on the car. Our travel agent has us picking one up when we get to Hollywood for use there and then drive to DL but I think after that we should just drop the car off because everyone says it won't be needed in DL. Should I hold onto the car so we can drive to the airport?

Is car rental expensive as far as being hit with all the insurance fees, etc? That is usually how they get you.
OK! I'm going to hijack this thread even more!:rolleyes1

Disneyfans4, What are your exact plans? Are you flying into SF and then flying into LA too? And then renting a car?? If so, this is a bad plan by your TA!!!:headache: Fly into SF, see the city, then rent the car and drive down the state. Take 2 days. See the coast, or see Yosemite! You have time! If you only get to California once in a life time you need to do this. Once you get to DL get rid of the car. You won't need it. You can take a tour shuttle to Hollywood or US. And skip US if you have been to the one in Orlando.
