Disneyland Engagement/Love Stories

I was engaged in Disneyland on June 21, 2006!! My whole family flew from Connecticut to California for my college graduation and we spent some time up in the Bay Area before heading down to Disneyland. On the 3rd day of our DL trip, DF told me we were going to dinner at night just the two of us at The Napa Rose restaurant at the Grand Californian. I was a little upset that we were eating at the Napa Rose when we had planned to eat there with my entire family the next night! After all, we were in Disney, so I thought we should attempt to vary our dining as much as possible! Needless to say, I wasn’t to happy to head to a dinner that I was just going to have again the very next night, but I reluctantly went anyway. :sad2:

On our way to dinner, Eric said that he forgot something up in the room, so he wanted to run back up there with me quickly before dinner (I was staying with my parents while he had his own room.) As we stepped out of the elevator on his floor, there was this barrier set up blocking the entrance to a balcony. Something special was going on there for sure!

What I saw as soon as I stepped off the elevator.

Apparently it was for me! :yay: Eric worked with Disneyland to create a special dinner on the 6th floor balcony of the Grand Californian Hotel overlooking Downtown Disney and the DL Park. He planned everything ahead of time (apparently weeks in advance!), and we even had our own waitress! I am not a huge fan of champagne (and wine has a tendency to bother my stomach), so he made sure that I had tea to celebrate with. I had salmon while Eric had a filet. He said that he ordered two entrees that he knew both of us liked so that way I could have my choice when the time came to eat.

He also timed it perfectly so that after our meal we would watch the 50th Anniversary Fireworks and had the Grand Californian pipe in the music to the balcony. It was perfect watching a clear view of fireworks by candlelight, by ourselves, in the arms of the man I love! At the end of When You Wish Upon A Star, Eric got down on one knee and proposed!! Of course I said yes! The 50th Anniversary Fireworks always brought tears to my eyes every time I saw them and heard the music. Now they also remind me of our engagement, so they mean that much more!!:cloud9:

The funniest part was that Eric planned everything with Disney, down to the timing of the proposal. However, I guess we got stuck with a very sweet, but very SLOW waitress! Eric arranged for my ring to be placed in Cinderella’s glass slipper before he proposed right at the end of When You Wish Upon a Star. Well, right before the fireworks started, he kept looking around for something. I couldn’t tell what, but apparently it was for the waitress who was supposed to have the slipper and was no where to be found! Very silly!

With the ring on my finger (and glowing!!!) we sat back down and the waitress brought dessert- strawberry ice cream cake and cheesecake. Yummy, but still no slipper. Then she returned with a plate, but only showed it to Eric. She kept saying “Sir, do you like this?” He responded, “Um, yes, very nice.” “Sir, would you like to see the strawberries?” “Yes, they look nice” “Sir, again, would you like to see the strawberries?” “uh… they are nice” “Sir! The slipper!? Is there something you’d like to put in the slipper?”

Then we finally got the clue and started laughing! She brought out a plate with chocolate covered strawberries with the Cinderella Slipper all ready for him to propose, but it was a bit too late!! Ooops! That’s ok though because it will be a really funny moment that we will always remember!:rotfl:

Right after we got engaged:

Once we were finished with dinner and enjoying the view, we headed back to Eric’s room. Our funny waitress was so sweet and brought us a tray with enough tea for the evening as well as more strawberries and treats to enjoy that night. Everything was definitely perfect!

A year later for our engagement anniversary in 2007, Eric recreated the same dinner. It was so sweet! He even gave me a gorgeous burnt orange African garnet ring to wear on my right hand on our wedding day (which I did!)

One of my favorite Disneyland memories (besides my engagement) was spending time with my bridesmaids there at my bachelorette party!! While it's not exactly romantic, it was so special and we had so much fun bonding. It's more of a family/friend love story... :confused3 maybe?! ;)

Thanks to my sister-in-law, the bridesmaids were able to have a DREAM lunch at the secret Club 33. I CRIED when I walked in it was such a dream come true!

After our lunch with tons of bags. Of course we did our fair share of shopping at the Club to remember the occasion:

We were engaged at Disneyland recently. We are going to have our engagement pictures taken at Disneyland and we will be married on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas this year.

Here's how the engagement went down.

We were technically engaged in May 2009 but we didn't have the ring and he wanted to do a full blown proposal. He had designed a ring for me and was just waiting for it to be completed.

On July 31, 2009 I went to work but I was feeling really sick. I couldn't wait to get home from work at 5:30pm and go to bed. Chad sent me a text and said he was coming to pick me up for lunch that day. He took me to lunch and told me that we were going to Disneyland that night for Dinner at the Blue Bayou Restaurant. My first thought was that I still didn’t feel well then I thought that we didn't have reservations, he said that we did. My next thought was that our annual passes were blocked out so we'd have to pay extra money to get in for just a couple of hours in the park. He told me not to worry about it. All through lunch he kept looking at me so lovingly and telling me he loves me. He does this often but it seemed a little much for a casual lunch.

When I got home from work I kept saying how much I thought we should wait and go to Disneyland on another day. He kept saying he really wanted to go that night. I was so angry. I grudgingly got ready to go.

When we got to Disneyland I was joking around and said that we should go to the jewelry store on Main Street and buy some cheap Mickey Mouse ring and he could give that to me. He kept saying that he didn't like any of the rings and that we should leave the store. He also said that he thought there was a jewelry store by the castle but I knew there wasn’t so I kept trying to talk him into a cheesy ring on Main Street. Finally, after 20 minutes in the store I agreed to leave, ringless.

I had been wearing a ring that Chad gave me for my birthday on my left ring finger. He said just give me that ring and I'll do an "official" proposal with that one. We walked over to Sleeping Beauty Castle. We went over to the Snow White wishing well. When the music started Chad got down on one knee and when I looked down I saw the real ring in the little black box. I totally yelled “Seriously?” Somehow I didn't feel sick anymore. He kept trying to say “I love you very, very much.” But he was so choked up that his mouth was moving but nothing was coming out. I leaned down, put my arms around his neck and said ”Baby, I can’t hear you.” He was finally able to speak and said, “I love you very, very much and I’ve waited a long time to say this to you and a long time to give this to you. I know in my heart that we are meant to be together. I want more than anything to have you as my wife.” I said, “So, what are you asking me?” He said, “Will you marry me?” I said “Abso-freakin-lutely!” Then we kissed and several people passing by said congratulations. Then he took me to fabulous dinner at the Blue Bayou where we sat right at the water’s edge. I couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect night.

I can't post pictures yet but my engagement ring is a solitaire but when I put the wedding band with it (it has two sapphires) it looks like a Mickey head.

My story starts on December 10th. I ended up being given the gift of a free profile on Match.com where a gorgeous man happened to e-mail me introducing himself. From there it led to a romantic date strolling through Christmas lights and talking endlessly into the night. It all led up to the most perfect of days....

My fairy tale came true on December 25, 2004. It all unfolded within the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World right inside Cinderella's Castle. It was my first trip to Disney, my first gift from the most amazing and romantic of men, and that day Prince Charming gave a Princess the most incredible proposal.

The day started cold and dreary. Wouldn't it figure a girl can't enjoy a day at Disney with nice Florida sunshine. Instead we go to Disney with it freezing and misting. It didn't deter me from soaking up the magic that makes up Disney however. Everything- the smells, the sounds, the people- all fascinated me and I was so busy being giddy I had no idea what was about to happen. We finally reach the statue of Walt and Mickey and my jaw fell at the amazing sight of Cinderella's Castle. Seriously, I literally cried at that gorgeous blue structure. It was everything a little girl dreams of and soooo much bigger in person!

Touching it, wow. It was ahmayzing! As I wandered inside this glorious castle, I knew instantly I had reached the peak of princess perfection and my life was complete. As little girls, we always dream of being the princess in the castle, a knight on a white horse and happily ever after. This day, I found mine. As I walked along the walls and touched the beautiful mosaics, I happened to find myself being tapped on the shoulder. As I turned to see who was garnering my unwaivered, devoted attention, it was my own Prince Charming on one knee asking me to marry him. That day, not only did I get to see Walt Disney World, the magic of fireworks, all of the glorious thrills, rides and fabulous cheesecake, I became a fiance to the most amazing man in the world. I also got to become the step-mom to the most amazing little girl and now my daughter has an older sister to hang out with!

In addition to my fabulous proposal, I got to meet all of the Princesses in Toon Town, which was pretty amazing too! It was surreal to see them fawn over my engagement ring and get pictures with them!
It was pretty funny though when inside Cinderella's Castle I had thought a tourist was being rude and I almost decked my fiance on accident!
It was by far the most romantic thing he's ever done, even in a freezing cold puddle during a very rare cold day in Florida. He told me he was going to do it at Space Mountain but after seeing my face inside Cinderella's Castle he couldn't wait anymore lol.
Sometimes online relationships work out beautifully!
I have pics of my day on my website. PM me if you'd like to see it. I unfortunately can't post images yet :guilty: :headache:

New Year' Eve (December 31, 2009)

I enjoyed reading you stories, did any of you fly to DL or WDW and if so was there any problems getting the ring on board? I would imagine you would want to carry it on so it is never lost but it seems and obvious piece of jewelry that could easily be identified by the girl if your bag gets pulled apart in a random search. Any thoughts?
