Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Happy Wednesday Ladies!

I'm like molasses today. Nothing is going very quickly here at work. I did get off my bum and did my run. 3.5 miles somewhat hilly in about 35 minutes. Plus I walked another 3/4 mile.

As for the 2 miles of elliptical yesterday, that was about 20 minutes.

Didn't feel like exercising at all, but I did it. Can't say I'm feeling that motivated right now or even that the run was that fun. But it was a run!

So for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
There are two choices really.
You can either surrender to the pressures of life and the struggles of this particular battle....
or you continue the fight...and do so with even more vengence and determination to reach your goals then you did before.
I choose the fight.....I know what it will get me."

Hi, girls!
I weighed myself on Monday at the gym and it said I gained 2lbs!
I don't know if that's correct, though because I ate about 30 minutes before going to the gym and it was already in the evening.Tyrae told me that you weigh more after swimming (which makes sense) but I'm going to weigh myself again today ( I haven't eaten since about noon) so that might give me a correct weigh-in. I know I should just do it in the morning before breakfast but our scale does NOT work and I really like using the ones at the gym (they're the kind they use at the doctor's office).

The scale said I weighed 258 :mad::mad: That's only 4lbs from my initial starting weight :headache:

I want to be 218 at the most by the time I go off to school (or less!). That means I need to lose 40lbs in 4.5 months. That seems really pushing it but I think if I can at least stick to eating correctly (right now my calorie count is 1500-1600 and my BMR is 1984) I can get really close!

Hi Cristabel! Great that you're making it to the gym. Don't be too hard on yourself when the weight you're seeing on the scale is not the result of a consistent weigh-in time.

There's also the differences of clothing weight and whether you ate or drank recently.

Keep going!

Almost forgot to check in - I had to squeeze in a fast 30 min elliptical trainer instead of my usual 45 because of an appt. I felt cheated.
But it wasn't that long ago that it was so hard for me to get to 30 min... :)

Ok get this! I weighed myself before getting into the pool (wearing my bathing suit) and the scale said I weighed 254.5. I swam for 35 minutes straight (my legs and arms are so sore), sat in the jacuzzi for 10 minutes, then hit the showers. I weighed myself again after showering (wearing my shorts and tee) and it said I weighed 254lbs.

So the whole weighing more after swimming isn't so accurate.

But I think that's definitely a more accurate weigh-in! So I'm 254. I'll weigh myself either tomorrow or Friday in the AM, right after getting up. I'll post that later.

I do know that not drinking enough water each day is coming back to bite me in the butt.

That is GREAT, 35 straight min of swimming!!!
Thanks for reminding me - going to get some water now!;)

That thing is long gone. :sad2:

My own personal rantings coming up, don't feel like you have to read them....lol

I am so frustrated right now. I have not been "on track" for the past month. A whole month! I haven't been eating too bad as far as sweets, but I've been eating a LOT and not doing any exercise at all. Nothing. So needless to say the weight has piled back on. It's amazing how fast it can come back.
I hopped on the scale tonight which I really didn't want to do. But I've been hiding from it for too long, so I just bit the bullet and did it. I'm back up from 211 to 225! 14 freaking pounds in one month. Wow. Why can't it come off that easily?????

It's so hard to post that number when I had been doing so well. I am so tired of struggling all the time. I was at Walmart the other day and was so close to buying some diet pills. I had those alli pills in my cart and after walking around with them for awhile, I put them back. I just couldn't do it. I want to be able to say I did this on my own, no pills, no surgery, no nothing but exercise and healthy eating.

And yet, here I am, gaining instead of losing, so maybe I should have just bought it and given it a try. I honestly don't know. I'm just really mad and disgusted at myself right now and just needed to vent. No one needs to reply if you've read this, I just wanted to post for myself to keep it real.

It stops here, I will say that. I refuse to keep gaining. I've gained some back, yes, but I've also worked too hard to go back to 263 where I started! I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I've got to get back to writing down what I eat. Drinking more water. I've got to get back to my walking, and DVDs. And most importantly I've got to stop beating myself up, or I'll never move forward.

Back on track baby, back on track.

Hey there....first off...

I'm proud of you for posting this. I know it was hard. And I've been there...unfortunately, many times. It is so easy to just give up and end up back where you started. But you took a step and said it out loud..."it stops here" "back on track".

It really is that simple. You know what to do, and you know you can do it. Just start now. Who cares what happened yesterday or last week or whatever!! You can choose to get back on track and by this time next week you will have seen a loss...or you can do nothing and watch it creep back up there.

This fear is what is keeping me pushing. I have never gotten to the point I am right now. I typically get into the 30's as far as pounds lost, and then I have a bad day that turns into 2 and 3. I don't weigh myself because I am afraid I will see a gain. A week turns into 2 and so on. And when I finally make myself get on the scale, what I see makes me more depressed and I keep eating and feeling sorry for myself and its over.

The past week has been hard for me. High stress and that makes me want to eat. I'm feeling myself struggle and I am soooooo petrified that I will fail. The only thing I (and all of us) can do is keep pushing ahead. Not let a slip up, no matter how small or large, turn into failure.

I found a used treadmill on craigslist so as soon as I can figure out where I can use it, I'm going to try to get back on track with exercise.

You and I live 10 minutes apart!!! Weekdays are hard for me. But we can plan evenings here and there, Sundays.....I can pick you up and we can go walk somewhere. Strip, mall, parks, whatever. We need to stick together and keep making progress!!!!!

Your weight loss was what motivated me to even start to try again!!! Think about how powerful that is....you changed my life!! Don't give up. I won't let you. Call me, email me, whatever.

When you get up in the morning to take the girls to school...get some comfy clothes on, eat breakfast, grab a water, walk them to school, and keep walking. Do you have an I-Pod? Walk to music you love! You could make that short walk to the school turn into a great morning routine. You'll feel great! And you live in such a beautiful area!! Perfect for a morning walk!

Sorry for the really long preachy email. I just care about you and know you can do this.

This is why we are here. We need to look out for each other. We will all have our moments when we need a push.

So I'm pushing.....

Hey there Cristabel. Don't get discouraged...your weight can fluctuate several pounds over the course of a day. Make sure you weigh yourself at the same time. I do this in the morning, as soon as I get out of the shower. That way it is more consistent and I can better track trends. If I were to weigh in the late afternoon, I would expect to see at least 2 lbs more than I had in the morning. Keep it up!!!!!

Amy, her problem is she doesn't have a good scale at home. So she uses the serious scale at the gym. Her weighing time depends on when she's at the gym.

You might want to see how cheap you can get a scale for home. It doesn't have to be fancy and it could be used. It doesn't matter if it's perfectly accurate, you just want it to be consistent. (or consistently going down) :)

Hi all - I completed my Week 7 Day 2 of the C25K today! Today I should be running 2.5 miles in 25 min. but there is no way I could have gone any faster to get that .5 mile in! I did run 2 miles in 25 min. and I am happy with that! My next workout day is Sat. and we will be going to DL so I am trying to decide if I should get up and run before we leave or take some time in the afternoon and go run. I could take a two day break and wait and run Sunday some time but I really like to run every other day and I am not sure I'll find anymore time on Easter Sunday to run either.:confused3

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Hello Missy! You are ALREADY running almost a 12 minute mile after only 7 weeks. That's awesome! WHO says you are supposed to get in 2.5 in 25 minutes? I can't do that after a year of running! Everything I've read says EITHER focus on the distance or the time for your first race training. Needless to say you are really doing well. You know that you just need to beat like a 15 minute mile pace for the DL 5k, which are already doing. I see you are a hard core athlete. :thumbsup2

Re. your question on the Saturday run. Correct answer is run before you go to Disneyland on Saturday. You will know that you put your training top priority and will feel like a rock star all weekend. There is the risk you might over indulge on treats from feeling so darn proud of yourself, but that's ok. ;)

If that doesn't work and you can't/don't get that run into your schedule, remember that you will be walking an awful lot in Disneyland and just be sure to keep up momentum and get in that run as soon as you can.

GO GIRL!!
YOU ROCK!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I know it's really early in the year, and maybe that's best so everyone can have plenty of time to train, but I was wondering if anyone was interested in forming a team for the CHOC walk this year?

It is Sunday, October 18th.

:goodvibes

What is it? Where is it?

It's a fundraiser for the Children's hospital of Orange County. It's at Disneyland!

www.chocwalk.org

I would love to, but it's just very unlikely that I can make it down in October, since I'm coming in September. BTW, have you signed up for the Disneyland 5k?

OK, so I didn't exercise today. It was grey and cold and I didn't get my bum out of the house. And I was starving today. Just ate and ate and ate. Tried to stick to good stuff (like 10 calorie jello and popcorn and salad and and and and....).

Tomorrow's Friday. Are we still all in?

You're back on track and I'm sure will continue your success!!! You did it before and you can do it again!!
Thanks Jen. I appreciate it.

Beth, we will be here to remind you that you did this before and you can do it again. :goodvibes
Thanks! What would I do without ya'll? :goodvibes

This is why we are here. We need to look out for each other. We will all have our moments when we need a push.

Hey Amy, thanks for being my pusher.

Tomorrow's Friday. Are we still all in?
Not me! LOL Seriously, I just weighed myself on Tuesday I think it was, so I am skipping this Friday's weigh in and will start again next Friday. I doubt I lost much if anything in the last three days, so stepping on the scale tomorrow might do my psyche more harm than good.

But I wanted to say good luck to you all!! I bet tomorrow Miss Amy will be below 200!! In any case, you are all doing great, keep it up!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

And January, Sarah, Tracey, Wendy and everyone else, where are you???? I hope things are okay with you guys and we miss you much! :grouphug:

Wow Jen - You are a great cheerleader :cheer2: Thank you, thank you for the encouragement and kind words! I know now where I can come beside to my very supportive DBF when I need that kick in the bottom!

I'm going to take your advice and try really hard to get up tomorrow at 7am and run before going to DL. I know the kids will want to be at DL before rope drop but they always do and they are the ones who are the hardest to get up and get going so I should have enough time for 25 min. of running and 5 min. of warm up and cool down.

I know it's really early in the year, and maybe that's best so everyone can have plenty of time to train, but I was wondering if anyone was interested in forming a team for the CHOC walk this year?

Sounds fun! :)

I am not joining the weigh in this week either...although I've been following my running program for 7 weeks now I have also been eating like a hog..oink, oink and I am promised myself to start writing down everything I eat and maybe even join WW online to give me some kind of structure and suggestions on what to eat because now I am a little out of control. BUT I am proud of myself...last night we went Easter shopping and I really, really want one of those Reeses eggs that they only have around Easter and I was going to buy one...well there was not any to be found at CVS and Borders was our next stop so instead of just substituting some other chocolaty calorie laden Easter candy I decided if I couldn't get the Reeses then I wouldn't waste my calories on anything else. Normally I would have had eaten anything and everything!

Good luck!! Remember, that is my advice, not what I would actually end up doing. I am SURE that I would prioritize getting to the parks early. So PLEASE don't miss any Disneyland fun on account of me!

I got myself to the gym today and did 20 minutes of cardio (but only made it 1.7 miles on the elliptical) and my weight training. Then I came home and had 2 lunches and 2 desserts. :scared1: Well at least I exercised. :headache: I also did not get on the scale today. I don't have a good relationship with that contraption right now, as it never has anything positive to tell me. I'm breaking off our bad relationship for a few weeks. Though I don't recommend this approach to anyone, as it's immature and only can lead to bad things.

Tomorrow I have a 60 minute run. I must admit, it's a tad frustrating to be working out pretty consistently for two weeks to still be way behind where I was in February. It's scary how quickly I got out of shape. How do people maintain that kind of running and exercise over time? I don't yet know...

Have a great weekend. I'm sticking with the exercise plan, but my attitude is a little lacking right now. Hope you all are doing better.

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY
Success is not a doorway, it's a staircase.
~Dottie Walters

202.5 yesterday. So...1.8 less than last week. 41 lbs total. I'll take it!!

I have to say I am still very very worried about falling off the wagon. Being so close to 200 feels good and bad at the same time. So scared of slipping and want to have a weight that starts with a 1 soooo bad!! I haven't weighed my current weight in 13 years.

I'm trying to stay focused...It is however getting harder and harder for me. I really need to switch things up. I've gotten bad about journaling and need to start again. I also need to plan out my food again and stick to it. Being very busy the past few weeks has not only made it harder to exercise, but harder to eat!! Sounds sillly, but if I go all day without eating and then try to eat what I should for dinner I end up waaaayy under calories and start to hold on to all the weight instead of lose it. I do much better when I plan it out and try to eat something small every few hours. My life has just been in the way lately.

I did find a great treadmill on Craigslist this week. My mission for this weekend is to read the manual and give it a try! It is a very nice heavy duty one with all the bells and whistles. I don't think it had been used much...I bought it from an older couple and it was dusty..lol. Retails for $1200 and we paid $375. So the money I won in the "biggest loser" work contest covered the treadmill and about half of the Disney Marathon entry fee. Which makes me happy!!!

I am wrapping up 2 classes this week and am thinking about taking a 2-month break from grad school. Hard decision because I am so close to the end that I want to just get it done, but balancing everything is really tough right now and it would be nice to have a break. We'll see.

So...I will try this week to start a routine with the treadmill to work on 5k prep, get back to journaling, and plan out my meals more so I can eat regularly. After I get my final papers written this week I hope to step things up and really kick in again.

Hope you all are well. I'll be back to catch up on the thread in a bit. Homework calls.....

No gym Thursday or Friday as I had to entertain 4 girls for a sleepover. I'll be going to the gym today and/or taking my dog for a long walk. She seems off and I don't know why. She's been sleeping a lot lately but I'm wondering if that all of us being on spring break has messed with her schedule.
