Disneyland Disney's Happiest Haunts Guided Tour. Halloween Time Tour Info.

Oh, I would be so disappointed. We mainly booked this tour last year because of the viewing area in front of the castle. I wouldn’t pay for this tour to view from in front of IASW. We spent a lot of time standing around waiting for each group to take pics with Hitchhiking Ghosts. And honestly I don’t remember much more.

So there are no projections? Also how was the music from back there.

Honestly with no HM and a subpar viewing area I’m finding it hard to justify $100+

How were the ‘stories’? Did you get the photo op?

What was the highlights on the tour?
The projections are on It's a Small World. It's actually my preferred spot for firework viewing. It won't have some of the other things that aren't projections or fireworks (Zero flying comes to mind). I'll report back to this thread after I take the tour tomorrow. Sometimes, the tours are awesome and sometimes they are boring/corny.

Thanks for coming back tomorrow to report on the tour. I’m curious too.

That sounds extremely disappointing.

Does anyone have a picture of the pin/playing cards the listing mentions? I was mainly in it for the pin and the viewing area, and with the viewing area a bust eBay may be the better bet for the pin.

Here's my take on the tour this year. Take everything with a grain of salt as I think some people would appreciate it or parts of it. I'll explain why I didn't think it was worth my time or money.

It started with getting pictures with a couple of the hitchhiking ghosts. This wasn't special to me because I took this tour several years ago and it was actually the first time they ever allowed people near the ghosts. That was exciting because it was new and we were totally lectured not to get too close. Now, there's no discussion of how old they are or how delicate they are. It's just a photo op.

The tour itself was not interesting. It was also difficult to hear because the band was near us and then we were in the cartoon theater with screaming kids. When we got a 10 minute break for the restroom, I felt like we hadn't done anything, yet. Overall, there was no interesting information other than a little bit of history and much of that was a stretch to relate it to Halloween.

We were given a tote bag and some trading cards (picture attached) at the end of the tour. They said they would mail us something later. I can only assume it will be the pin that usually comes with a tour. We were also told that our app would have the ride pass that we could use on one of the following: Pirates, Indy, Matterhorn, Big Thunder and I believe one other choice that I can't remember. I used it for Indy, but I had already been on all those rides (except Big Thunder) earlier in the day. I think they should have included Haunted mansion.

We were able to view the fireworks from a reserved viewing area by It's a Small World. I did watch from the reserved area, but I normally watch the fireworks from over there and about 30-40 feet closer than where we were. If you want to take the tour just for the fireworks, you can just go to the general area 30 minutes prior and have a good spot. The projections are on It's a Small World and while they didn't have Zero fly by, they did have him protected flying by. For me, it's a better place to watch the fireworks than Main Street because I like just showing up 15-30 minutes early and having less overall people.

That's really disappointing to hear they moved the firework viewing area to Small World. That was most of the point of the tour. Unless they move it back this tour is not worth it and we will cancel it.

Thank you for reporting back! That sounds disappointing. I think I will end up canceling but I appreciate knowing this ahead of time as two hours and over $100 is not insignificant!

What did you think of your guide?

Normally guides are extremely polite - not only to their guests, but to other guests as well. Yesterday we were in line for the HMH VQ and it was very long, stretching to the Pirates queue. Twice while we were in line, guides with very large parties had to cross the pathway that the HMH VQ was blocking (near Tianas/Cafe Orleans). Both guides were quite rude, as if those of us waiting in line were somehow not supposed to be there. It surprised me. I almost wonder if they were guides in training.

Oh, wow. My guide was extremely polite. There were lots of times that we stopped in an area to listen to a story and she was very careful to not disturb other guests or employees. She even apologized to people if we were going to stand near where they were sitting. A second guide joined us midway through the tour. Maybe people complained about the earlier guides and the second one was there to help with crowd control. He actually never needed to do anything and just walked behind the group.

Thanks so much for your take on the tour - super helpful!!! I booked this tour for the end of September because I wanted to take the photo op with the hitchhiking ghosts and see the fireworks and projections in front of the castle in a prime spot. If they have moved that part to Small World, it's not worth it for me, so I think I will cancel mine as well.

I appreciate the reviews on this. We have reservations for the HHT in Oct, but for a Thursday and know that there will be no fireworks, but wondering if they'll have a viewing area for the projections, Small World area or someplace else. Is everyone getting the options for choosing one ride with a pass, 3 or 4 options to choose from ? We're quite familiar with the history of Disneyland, but had hoped it would be more geared towards the Halloween Season since its titled as Happiest Haunts. I'll keep a look out for more reviews, but from what we're seeing this might not be the tour for us.

Thank you again for your reviews.

Thank you for your review. Was the Small World reserved viewing area for Fireworks standing only or with seats ?

There are no seats and we were told that we had to stand. That said, I sat on a planter rim and most people sat down on the ground or the steps. There are no chairs and they could enforce the standing thing if they need to.

Ok, thank you for your reply.

Questions about the HHT :
Any updates from this past week on the viewing area for Fireworks / projections ?
Is it still now by Small World area, standing only ? Were you packed in tight for the viewing area ?

Did you get the 5 options to pick 1 ride for a LL pass to ride after the tour ?

Did they discontinue the Bat Cookie treat ? Seems like that was listed in August when it first was listed.
Is that no longer given with the tour ?

Hey rounding back to ask if anyone has recieved the pin that they were supposed to mail. I haven’t gotten mine and I just remembered it should have come in the mail.

I liked the tour but it was really 30 min of actual interesting trivia and the rest was filler forced to be spooky But I was in an interesting group so that was nice. Also I really enjoyed watching from the viewing on Small World (no fireworks but Halloween themed projections)

Thanks!
