I will be in Anaheim 9/29 to 10/5. I already have plans for 10/1 and 10/4. I plan on buying the City Pass which gives you 2 days at Universal (if you buy the ticket there first) one day at Sea World and 3 day park hopper at Disneyland. So here are my plans:

09/29 Sat Universal
09/30 Sun Disneyland/DCA
10/02 Tue Disneyland/DCA
10/03 Wed Disneyland/DCA
10/05 Fri Universal or Sea World.

Does this look OK or should I do Disneyland on Saturday instead of Sunday as there are more AP blackouts?

Is there a thread of how to tour the parks? I know for Disney World there are plans for which rides to go on first, get fast passes, etc. but I can't find any for Disneyland and/or DCA. If you are doing park hopping any plans out there?

Thanks!

For touring plans on the parks you should look at reading the latest issue of the unofficial guide to Disneyland. For the most part the main chunk of the information is the same issue to issue, but the touring plans are updated with new rides. You can also find the same information on touringplans.com, as well as crowd level predictions. Its only something like $6.99 a year or something, and is definately worth it if your wanting to make your trip all that it can be!

And yes, I would do Disneyland on Saturday. There's a whole thread on it here V

You should only need one day at universal. There's only like 6 rides and if you're okay with single rider you wont have to wait in long lines except for the Studio Tour :)

Thank you the information!

When you say "the latest issue of the unofficial guide to Disneyland" do you mean the book that comes out once a year?

Many years ago I signed up for some touring plan for Disney World, maybe it was Touringplans.com. It gave you a colored printout for each ride by park and when to visit the ride and also when to go to each park by day. Is that it?

The attractions that we would do are:

01 Transformers
02 Studio Tour
03 King Kong
04 Simpsons
05 Shrek
06 Jurassic Park
07 Terminator 2
08 WaterWorld
09 Special Effects
10 Animal Actors
11 NBC Universal Experience
12 The Blues Brothers

So, this is doable in one day?

Does Touring Plans include Universal?

Thanks!

OK. Based on what you have told me, we should do.

09/29 Sat Disneyland/DCA
09/30 Sun Universal
10/02 Tue Disneyland/DCA
10/03 Wed Disneyland/DCA
10/05 Fri Sea World.

Does touringplans.com talk about park hopping? Is there any advantage leaving one park to go to another on the same day?

Thanks!

You should be able to do all these in one day with no problem. Just make sure to check the schedule for the shows and plan accordingly!

Technically, this particular question should be moved .... be that as it may, the order is not optimal.

Simpsons
down to lower lot
Transformers
Revenge of the Mummy (missed that?)
Jurassic Park
NBC Universal Experience
back to upper lot
.... and the rest

Sorry. Where should I ask the questions on Universal Hollywood? I see Universal Orlando but not Hollywood on this web site.

The numbering was just a list not the order I would see the rides. I skipped Revenge of the Mummy as my wife does not like scary rides.

So the order to see the attractions should be:

01 Simpsons
02 Transformers
03 Jurassic Park
04 NBC Universal Experience
05 Studio Tour
06 King Kong
07 Shrek

Park-hopping is pretty much a given at DLR. I don't know of many (if any) people who just stick to one park a day. That's where touringplans may not be the greatest, if it doesn't consider park-hopping. We used touringplans.com for WDW and it was great, especially since it was our first time there. For DLR, we get most of our info on "plans" from the DIS. You just have to read a lot. I would suggest reading all the stickys, but especially Hydroguy's tips and newbie information at: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1072276

Hope that helps some :thumbsup2

Does Touring Plans include Universal? The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2013 does have a few pages at the very back of the book for Universal Studios Hollywood as well as a 1 day touring plan. Not sure if it is available on their touringplans.com website, though.

Thanks!

Hope that helps.

There's a thread for CA Theme parks. So this would probably be best there ;)

I'm on my iPhone, maybe it's different- but I believe it's under "California" then "southern ca theme parks".

Yep! That's the one! I too am subscribed to touringplans.com, however I can't find the touring plan from the unofficial guide on the website. The particular plan we used had us finished by lunchtime when the crowds set in. We got there before opening and walked onto everything. Definately something I would reccomend doing!
