Is it true that FP for the radiator spring racer are most likely claimed within an hour of opening ? I think the parks are opened at 8:00 and there's no chance my kids will be up at that time . We probably won't make it to the park til 10:00. Are we out of luck for the ride ?

Hi,
Unless it is a really popular day ( maybe 4th July) the chances are you will be able to get fast passes. HOWEVER, they will be likely to be in the late afternoon or early evening at best. It was extremely popular when I was there in early September ( going back mid april).
I would do my best to get to the park as soon as possible and go straight to get FP's.
Depending on the age of your kids there is also the single rider line.
Good luck!

The best way to gauge the Fastpass return times is to use the Disneyland app to periodically check the return times. I've noticed that on an 8am opening on a Saturday, the fastpass return time at 9:00am was around 2:00pm. My suggestion would be to check the app on the day of the week and time you want to go to get an idea. Be mindful of special things like Spring Break, special events, etc.

We were at the park on July 4, 2-3 years ago. At opening, my husband got in line for RSR and I went straight to the FP machine. By the time I reached him with the FPs for a later ride, he was waiting for me at the entrance to the RSR. The line was moving quickly stepped aside and waited until I go there. We were on the ride in less than 10 minutes. Our FPs had us returning around 10-11 if I remember correctly, we went back then and rode it again. I had heard that it was really fun at night as well so we watched for evening FPs to become avaialble, I think we got them around 11am for an 8pm ride. So...I would expect FPs will still be available if you arrive at 10am, but you'll likely only be able to ride it once unless you want to stand in line. :)

How on earth did you make it through that entire standby line to meet back up with him?

When RSR first opened, FP would run out within the first hour, but the demand seems have slowed down. In general, RSR FPs seem to be lasting for at least the first few hours of the day nowadays. I would still head over there as soon as you get to the parks. As others have suggested, I would also keep an eye on the FP return times in the official Disneyland App so you can see if they still have FPs when you get to the park and if the time will work for you.
