So, I just found out I'm expecting and will be at 6 weeks when we go to Disneyland in a week and a half! Is there any advice you have for someone in that situation? I'm assuming all the roller coasters are out (as is Mater's and TOT). Luckily, my dad is back up to full capacity and my sister will be along as well. So, my girls will still get to ride all the wild stuff. Any recommendations for cool things for my mom (who doesn't ride coasters, either) and I to do while we're waiting? Or just general advice?

I have no advice, but wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! Best wishes on your pregnancy!

All rides are not out. Your only 6 weeks pregnant. I would ask your Dr. and have her tell you what you can and can't do.

Pay attention to your body. You will dehydrate faster. Shop, take pics, enjoy the little things. I love just looking through the stores. I enjoy the shows. And visit the Animation building. My kids will go to do the drawings, and I enjoy just hanging in there watching the clips.

I don't ride most of the coasters, and many doctors will advise no coaster, so my kids head for a ride, and I will people watch, shop (rarely buy, save it for the last day) and enjoy shows. While kids are doing Star Tours and Space, I watch the Jedi Academy and check out the Little Green Men store. While they do BTMRR, I hit the petting zoo. They do Indy, I check out the pin store in Frontierland and NOS... Lots to see and do!!

Oh, be prepared for daytime sickness. A good friend had just discovered she was pregnant last year before Christmas, and we were all at Disneyland. She was 7 weeks along and so happy she hadn't had Morning sickness. She and I were sitting off while her hubby and my kids rode Maters and Racers (that's how she told us, her doctor said no coasters...), when suddenly she started feeling ill, and spent the rest of the day trying to stay out of the bathroom. I think it was simply her body deciding too much activity.

Congratulations!!!

You can do all the attractions that don't have a height requirement. I went at 8 months pregnant.....it was fun to experience some of the attractions I hadn't been on in awhile and shopping more then usual. I agree with taking breaks and eating snacks =) Most of all, have fun!!

Congrats. I had the EXACT same thing happen to me years ago. My oldest was only 7 months old and we were planning on taking her and my stepdaughter who was 10 to Disney. Then right before the trip I found out I was pg and had TERRIBLE morning sickness. I was so nervous but I found that when I was there I was actually relaxed and I was careful about what I ate and how much and I don't remember it bothering me too much. The only "big" ride I did was splash as I figured it wasn't as jerky as some of the others but I am sure a lot of people would say no to that one. Calif Adventure wasn't even built then but at Disney there is plenty of things you can do. Most fantasyland stuff, Buzz and the orbiters in TL and probably nemo. You can do pirates and HM and the big ships. Sure there are some things you can't do but I am sure you can still have fun and as the others said you can shop or people watch while they are on the bumpier rides.

Good luck. :)

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and we leave Monday for DL!! I actually asked my midwife what rides I could go on and she told me pretty much all the rides. Except ones that may be super jerky and have huge drops like ToT. I asked about splash mountain and she said it should be fine. But to def listen to my intuition. Plus some days I still get nauseous so we'll see when we get there. Good luck and have fun!!

All advice here has been great! I am currently 21 weeks and have visited the DLR twice earlier in the pregnancy (10 weeks and again at 12 weeks) - with another visit next week:)

At 6 weeks you will may start to feel some nausea and fatigue - so expect it - and be pleasantly surprised if it holds off while you are there:) I found that I felt better on vacation than I did at home - even on a cruise with rough seas - at 14 weeks!

You can ride everything without a height requirement - for the most part. I also rode Soarin' - which posed no problem with nausea. I stayed away from everything else that may have been risky. You will find many people who will say that nothing is safe - and those who say they still rode everything. At 6 weeks, things are still tenuous, and Disneyland will still be there when your baby is born. But - that doesn't mean you have to sit out on everything! There is a lot of fun to be had with the non-headliners, too!

There are many places to sit and people watch - take in the parades - the nighttime shows - shop - snack - and THEN there are all the rides you CAN do! I found that I did tire easily when I hit EE and needed to take a mid-day rest.

Congratulations on your pregnancy - and think of all the new memories there are to be made with your new little one!

Congratulations!!
I would check with your doctor and see what they recommend avoiding. There are also notices posted about people with back or neck injuries and pregnant women. If you don't check with your doctor I would follow those signs. I went to DL at 4 weeks pregnant (I did not find out until after I returned from the trip). I was so nervous about having been on the rides. My OB assured me that it was early and I was fine. But, don't do what I did and go riding on all the crazy rides!!
Also, keep crackers with you to help with nausea. Stay hydrated and get lots of rest!

Congrats!!!! I agree with all pp. Maybe take some ginger drops for nausea, they work for some people, and pack tissues for the occasional mood swings! I 6 weeks sometimes the strangest things would set me off crying!

I've been 5 weeks and 20 weeks on disney trips. 5 weeks was hard as I was very nauseated. Even the small rides gave me motion sickness like I'd never had before. I spent a lot of time just relaxing and trying new foods. Eating snacks often helped with the nausea so I tried lots of new foods. Good luck and congrats :)

When my wife was pregnant with our first we went to DL and DCA, she didn't find out she was prego till a couple weeks later ( she was 7 weeks at that point)
But like everyone says, ask your Dr. Hopefully your Dr has been to the parks

Oh and my Daughter turned out fine :p

That early in the pregnancy, not much you can't do. Congratulations on the new Disney fan who will join your family.

Congratulations! I've been to Tokyo Disney twice while 7-10 weeks pregnant. My main limitations were the constant nausea and fatigue. I checked with my midwife and my GP when I was pg with my first and they both said nothing was out as long as there was no impact on my belly. Since it was my first pregnancy and it was so, so early, the growing bub was very well protected.

Check with your own health care providers :)

It's been a while since I've been pregnant (my youngest is 12), but I have been to DLR at many stages of pregnancy. I went on everything that was comfortable to go on. I know there are a lot of signs warning not to go on a ride if you're pregnant, but that's mostly to protect themselves from a lawsuit if you happen to miscarry or have other issues. Other than morning sickness, I didn't have pregnancy issues. Of course if you are someone at risk to miscarry or have other issues, avoid the coasters and jerky rides, but if you don't have problems, and you're in good health there's probably no real reason to avoid these rides.

Just ask your doctor about it.

I gave up on getting pregnant with our first and went ahead and scheduled a long awaited WDW trip. I ended up about 7 weeks pregnant. I was totally fine with that after several years of infertility treatment. But it did change the trip for me. I was perpetually nauseous and just remember wandering the parks in search of anything I could actually eat. So I'd just be sure to bring some crackers, or whatever else you think you might be able to eat. At 6 weeks you might be completely fine, but it was right around that point that my nausea always kicked in.

Congratulations! Enjoy this special time with your girls before life revs up again!

Congrats!! I too am pregnant about 8 weeks now and we go the end of Sept. My doctor told me to go and have fun just use my judgement on which rides I go on.

I did the parks at five weeks, and while I was cleared to go on everything except Matterhorn, Muhullod Madness (at the time) and Indy, I just couldnt do it. For one thing, I was quite nausous.

The main reason I didnt go on any of the headliners (except Soarin) was that I didnt want to spoil my happy place if something happened and I suffered a loss. If that had happened, I was worried that I would always associate Disneyland with that, instead of all of my good memories.

Your opinion may vary of course, I just wanted to throw out my reasoning.

I am a worrier by nature so YMMV. I avoided coasters, jerky rides (which for me included TSMM) and log/boat rides where back ups mean you get hit by the boat behind you (Pirates and IASW). I was further along (4 months), but my doctor described the main risk as something that feels like a car accident where the placenta can detach - so that was my guide. Plus - I knew I would be back and ride everything in the future so why run any risk?

What did I do instead? Bought Baby's First Christmas ornaments, onesies, stuffed animals - watched the families with little kids in absolute excitement - ate my share of churros. Congratulations!

Thanks guys! You are super helpful (as always). I've switched jobs and moved since we had our last little pumpkin - so I'm in search of a new OB doctor and haven't been in yet (with an hour drive each way and sometimes a 3 hour wait (always more than an hour), I just can't afford to block off 5 hours for each prenatal appointment by sticking with my previous OB). I'll see if I can figure it out this weekend and get in this week. I did have some trouble early on with DD6 and ended up being told to 'take it easy' for most of the pregnancy, so I'm just going to be happy to be able to go and not worry about the things I'm missing out on. Thanks for all the advice, nausea has already hit me some (normally shortly after I eat) so I'll probably be careful what I eat (a sip of my sister's milkshake yesterday was a bad idea...) and take along some crackers, just in case. I've never seen the ginger drops at the store, but may check on Amazon if I can't find them locally. Truthfully, I've had nausea, but was always able to keep things where they belonged with my first two pregnancies; so, I'm hoping that will be the case with this one as well!

Theoretically, if rides like the teacups didn't make me too nauseous, would they be considered safe? How about the Silly Symphony Swings (one of my girls favorites, but my dad and DH won't ride it due to motion sickness issues - same w/ the teacups. Oddly enough, my dad can do the coasters)? I've read that g-forces and impact are normally the worrisome items, and these rides don't seem to have that issue (just the possibility of inducing nausea).
