Disneyland 70th speculations and news

I wish Disney would stop naming things that lead to duplicate abbreviations! At first I thought "PP" meant Peter Pan, but then I wondered, why would a Peter Pan CM take you around other lands?

Then I figured it was [Lightning Lane] Premier Pass. That made sense until I saw some other people's postings that indicate you were referring to PhotoPass. Is that correct? You can get this "tour" with any PhotoPass purchase, including LLMP?
AHAHAHA!! I actually thought about that after I'd posted. "PP" isn't a very definitive abbreviation.

From what I read, it's free if: you have one of the top 2 MKs; you have purchased photopass; and with purchase of LL, but that did not specify which type--I assume it's the purchase of the multi and/or premier pass. It would be nice if it worked with the multi. If you can afford a premier, you don't need a free PhotoPass tour ha ha.

Sunday for sure, fireworks run that day..

The rest of the week days they usually do projections, can’t think on a reason for not doing Tapestry… I can’t swear by it though LOL..
In July, all entertainment will be every night. The calendar doesn't yet go out to mid July, only 6 weeks at a time. If you look at today's entertainment schedule, thats basically what it will be in mid-July on your dates.

For anyone who has done the new magic band ticket interactive kiosks - if you are both a DVC member and Magic Key holder what does it say on your ticket?
At risk of giving a non-comedy (and potentially wrong) answer:

Probably the MK. At DLR, the MB+ wouldn't know that you're DVC - it would only see the admission (in this case, the MK).

Here's a little more information about the free PhotoPass shoot.

-Runs from 12-7 PM daily
-The line is at the entrance to Frontierland. Look for the rope and the PP CM.
-It's free
-It's about 10 or so minutes
-You can choose any land but Galaxy's Edge, but keep in mind that walking is part of the 10 minutes
-This is a personal tour so it's just you/you and your party
-I have read that the CMs get a lunch break but can't confirm
-People have reported being able to wear/have specialty items in the shoot, like cap & gown
-Pictures will be on PP
Definitely going to try this on one of my LL days. Great way to get good pics on a solo visit

They have added a lot of parity between the WDW and DLR apps. DLR used to only show my MK in the past but now it shows that I'm DVC as well as Visa (it doesn't see the WDW AP LOL).

Here is some of the info I had seen on FB showing that there were options for various people -

There is also one for club 33 members too.

That's nuts and no thanks. This type of crazy crowds and demand takes all the fun out of stuff like this.
People of all ages loved the keys! They were having a great time finding the different stations and seeing what happened when they inserted their key into each lock station. Strangers were bonding and sharing stories while in line. It was definitely fun for the people who were participating. And having a scavenger hunt type of activity that engaged people led to more manageable attraction wait times.

The Disneyland community is very warm and friendly. People were happy, joyous, excited, and nostalgic this weekend. Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys were the icing on the cake. Everyone cheered when the music started. People were singing and dancing and were truly celebrating happy! It was a great weekend!

The app having that info makes sense. The part I can't grasp how the MB+ would have access to the DVC affiliation. That would be easy at WDW, since they store everything in a single user profile - the MB+ is explicitly yours and has your admission and affiliations.

But, to date, at DLR, the info on the MB+ is just the ticket / pass. (Club 33 would be reflected by that admission.) Maybe it could attach the DVC affiliation to any MB+ attached to your app account - but that would also tag any non-DVC guests if you had set up MB+s for them.

I don't know - I'm just rambling. I would be gently suspicious that DVC might show up if it's a ticket purchased through Membership Magic Beyond (that might be tagged in the system as a DVC ticket), but I'm totally guessing. I might be missing something.

To answer my own question, apparently you cannot directly book the WOC dining package for Wine Country or Storyteller's in advance.
You must book a regular dining reservation, and let them know at check in that it is for the dining package. How that will work in real time remains to be seen!
It has been that way for quite some time. The dining package area for WOC is in the circular section in the middle of Paradise Gardens Park. It is standing only. It is flat, so you'll want to arrive early to be near the front.

There were a few discussions on facebook and someone replied that it gives you the Magic Key one if you are both.

I watched a livestream on Friday night and people whooped and cheered when Mickey appeared. I briefly thought how funny it was that people would get so excited about someone in a mouse costume--but hey, that's the suspension of disbelief that makes Disney magic work. :mickeyjum

The energy was palpable. The CM were excited as well. They are blocked this weekend but we met several who purchased single day tickets to be there. I can only imagine what July 17 will feel like.

That's awesome that people were having a great time and having fun with everyone else. I have had some experiences with special events or special days that were not great. People have been rude, pushy, obnoxious etc. Happy to hear it was not like that.

Just checking... were those experiences at WDW or DL? The two theme parks have different cultures.

My mom and I went Saturday. Our longest lines of the day were parking and the trams. Had to wait for a bunch of trams or mickey bus with the wheelchair. But otherwise, we had a great day. Highlights of our day included Flag Retreat (always one of our very favorite things), seeing a flag retreat friend we have not seen in awhile, the calvacade, and Paint the Night. We saw the early parade lining up around 6:30. We were right near the end in town square and had a great view. In the last hour, the character handlers and a few characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto) were out and helping to warm up the crowd. High energy and everyone was so excited for the parade!

DL. I've been to WDW too but never had issues there. I have a MK to DL and live close by so maybe because Ive been to DL more over years Ive just had more opportunities for bad experiences lol. But Ive had good ones too, now Im thinking about it years ago when they brought back Main St Electrical Parade people were cheering and applauding and a lot of good energy.

Eta: I absolutely still want to do all the 70th stuff. I'll be there in June and again after the Walt Disney AA show opens in July. I was just trying to say, for me anyways, it just isn't fun when its super crowded and people are being jerks on top of that.

Were you in the ADA area? If so, that is just past the end of the Plaza Inn dining package. What did you think of the view from there?

Regarding the characters coming out and warm up the crowd, I thought that was great! I was also surprised that the carts with snacks and light up toys were only in front of the train station. They were not in front of Small World and I didn't see them on Main Street for the 2nd show.

They also had PhotoPass photographers walking up and down the street taking pictures of people with Paint the Night signs.

Not in the ADA area, but close by. I swear it was full before 6:30! We were across from the Plaza dining area and reserved seating. So the parade would turn towards us from the train station and then turn just past us to go in at the end. Great spot to see it. I got some great pics and video. I will try posting a few pics later. And yes, we loved the characters and their handlers coming out to warm up the crowd. Really helped to pass the time!

Adding to myself. Forgot one more highlight --- Small World! It looks great. The lighting has been updated. Fresh paint. The Coco additions. All dolls working (no non-moving or missing ones). The sun near the end in the last room was bright and clean with no bugs (at least I have always assumed that was the black yuck in the eyes). Just overall fantastic! I have missed this ride the last few months as it is a favorite!
