Disneyland 70th speculations and news

I think someone mentioned this above, but I was just thinking the 70th would lineup really well with opening the Walt Disney animatronic in Disneyland!

Personally, I have wondered if they will scale back the 70th and do a bigger celebration for the 75th. I know they tend to go in decades, but 75 is one of those big milestones, so they could already be working on plans for that and not really going all out for the 70th.

I’ve never done an Anniversary on the exact date, so I’m hoping next year it will happen for me! Just booked VGC for that week just in case all the other stars align! The countdown begins…

I was there for the 60th anniversary year they had great decorations on the castle, plus merchandise. I'd love to see new fireworks, or have the electrical parade come back for the anniversary. I've been holding out that "Believe....there's magic in the stars" fireworks might come back someday but that's probably not very likely.

The 60th celebration went from May 2015 to September 2016.

Hopefully they will make some more announcements soon.

What refurb are you referring to? Do you mean the individual rides that are down for days to weeks?

The biggest project right now is Tiana's and Bayou Country which are supposed to open on 11/15/24. My guess is that the Opera House will be open by July 2025.

I’m hopeful for lots of new entertainment. We loved the 60th. I’m toying with an April trip and probably September next year so it’d be great to catch something on either or both.

Yikes, I was under the impression it would be starting late this year or early next.

That is where I am at too. I asked at VGC in July and was told an array of answers (from no idea to next year to 2026). The one cast member even said that he had heard 2 timeframes --- one I would hate (2025) and one I would really hate (2026). So at this point, I think the chances of it being done by next July are basically zero.

Yep, such a bummer since the rooms really need it! I feel like they would already have the blurb on the booking page if it were anywhere in the near future. The BLT one went up months ago for September 2024 through September 2025. Not only that, we have stays next week; November; January 2025; and now July 2025, and we have not received any type of email notification regarding construction.
