Watching this now and really missing DL, can't wait for our July visit. It's so neat to see such familiar places , feels like our second home! :-)

I have to say I was disappointed in the special. It's not what I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, Dick Van Dyke and Elton John and most of the others were great fun, but I really thought it would be more of a celebration for Disneyland. This felt more like just a Disney special. I was hoping for more of a peak at the park itself, like a teaser of the Paint the Night parade, some characters, etc.

I agree - it was completely promotional rather than reflective. Disney is a business though, the name is the same but the man is long gone. Even my DD13 had issues with it - but people who are big Walt fans - they were not the target market here - not by a long shot!

How does Little Big Town playing a cover of Steve McQueen relate to Disney or Cars Land?
(Other than the inspiration for Lightning's last name)

After watching the whole thing, I agree too. Thought that they would show more of the parks too but did enjoy the performances by Elton John and Idina Menzel (probably the last time that I wanted to hear Let It Go at the parks again LOL).

I agree, we were really excited for the special, the performances we liked actually, no issue there. However that was really all there was..no resorts stuff, or much park stuff, not even any Downtown Disney. Other than the tour of the castle suite with Josh Gad and the star wars land preview it was pretty much the same as most of the cable disney specials.

We were impressed with the opening dance sequence on Main Street. We were amazed no one got a shoe stuck in those tracks! Especially the ladies in heals!

I did like the dance/song performance on the stage with Neo and Derrick Hough. Those were really cool. Elton John in front of the castle with fireworks...and the girl that sang with Kermit the Frog was good too! The LA Philharmonic doing the Star Wars theme songs was awesome. I guess I wasn't disappointed, lol.

My DD cried at the part about the lamp - as we did get to go into the apartment when we did the tour two years ago - the fact it is no longer part of the tour made it extra special to her and the fact she was the one who got to ring the doorbell. It is stuff like that we were hoping to see more of. Star Wars though...as much as it's not really a Disney thing to me, I am still a huge fan, so I will never complain about that marriage!!

I was expecting mediocre performances and a lot of advertising. I thought we would just watch it a little bit. Unlike most of the posters here, I was super impressed and entertained by performances (really high quality IMHO). We watched the whole thing. I would have liked to see more of the park, but overall I thought this was well put together.

Not what I thought this show would be. I thought it was a documentary about Disneyland and Walt Disney. This seemed to promotional. I felt the same way about the Christmas Parade. :(

I decided not to watch this (had to watch The Walking Dead, anyway, lol) because we were supposed to be at DLR on the end of this week, but my grandmother has been really ill, so I'm taking that time to go see her instead.

I was very bummed - not even a video clip, nothing of Julie Andrews wishing the park a Happy 60th?? We had just returned from our trip, so the kids were excited to see it if only just to say - "we were there Friday night"!

We got a teaser for the parade. It was the opening moments of the show.

I have to say that I enjoyed the show. The music was good. The Dick Van Dyke spot was awesome. I loved the reaction that he got. I liked the glimpses of the park. I don't need to see too much.

I know, but to me it was more of an overall Disney special, just wasn't enough Disneyland specifics for me. Dick Van Dyke was really the only part I was ecstatic about. Glad you enjoyed it! :goodvibes
