DISNEYLAND 5K & Half Marathon WISH meet

Jeff, the shirts were great, thanks! We didn't try them on but they will definitely fit!

I finished in 2:29:39. Not bad for my first 1/2! Especially considering that when I signed up for this race in April, I was not running at all...I went from the couch and sporadic stationary bike riding to running a 1/2! :yay:

It was great to meet everyone and put some faces to the names! Thanks for a great time and for being so friendly! It makes me want to sign up for the WDW marathon so I can go to the WISH meet in Florida! hmmmmm....it is only 85% full!

Come on Marcia you know you want to - the WISH meet at POP will be a blast!!

Marcia will be there as long as everyone has lime green finger and toenail polish on.:lmao:

She claims to be retired from running full marathons. She sticks to half marathons because she doesn't have to train for those.

I'm bummed that I couldn't make it for the WISH meet Saturday night. I tried to make it but we were in the middle of a dinner reservation at Ariel's Grotto. Plus, I had two cranky kids in tow. :rolleyes1

I enjoyed meeting Jeff and Marcia at the 5K. They were so friendly and I spotted Jeff right away grinning in his WISH shirt. Jeff made a good pacer for my 5K start in that bright WISH shirt. I followed his lead for a while during that run.

I also spoke with Tracy and Chester in the corral C at the half. It was nice meeting you both! DH and I both ended up finishing the half in 2:20:19.

Caseydilla, I was wondering where you and your family were. Oh well, you only missed out on free tshirts, WISH wrist bands, and lots of laughs and stories.

What, you paced after me? I feel used. Nah, just kidding. It was just a fun run, so stopping for pictures and dodging kids and woggers was to be expected.

Marcia and I didn't see you after the entrance to Disneyland Esplanade. I guess you ran by when I stopped to take a picture with the Disney Dead's team. You should have stuck with us at the start. Oh well, next time. We'll see you again at another race someday. Marcia goes to Vegas alot, but I don't. We'll look you up if we do.

Great meeting you, your husband, and keiki. I know how tough it is when you have your kids with you. Parents never get to do what we want to do. My solution? I leave my family at home :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:  . It's not my fault they have school during the race weekend.

Have fun up in Big Bear. I'll let you know if we ever get back there for skiing in the winter.

I just wanted to say thank you to Jeff for inviting me to the Jamba Juice Meet on Saturday and thank you again for the shirts! It was my first time meeting fellow DISers and everyone was so warm and friendly! I am definitely checking out the WISH boards further, as y'all have definitely inspired me! A good goal is that I will end up walking with you guys next year!

We will be at WDW during the marathon. We're meeting up there with our friend who ran last weekend - they are spending a 3 week honeymoon at WDW and the half is the day we all leave (we have 7pm flights).

I did have a question for you guys regarding the half in WDW. His soon-to-be-wife finally gave in/agreed he could run, he then found out the half is already full. Is there any way, other than an act of God, to get into the race? Are there teams that end up not filled? How does that work? Any advice would be appreciated! His thought was that it would be a crying shame to be there and have to "watch it go by"....

You rock - don't know why I didn't look there for info, first! Don't know why he didn't, either!

Once again, thanks for the help. We'll definitely look forward to seeing you in person again in January.

Uuuugh, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make it in January, 2009. But, it's not over just yet. LOL. I'm going to the Masters golf tournament in April, 2009, so funds will be tight!

Now if I hit the sweepstakes between now and then, then we'll see if I make it. Mushu (Marcia) is teasing me that she's going, and if that happens, she'll "one up" me on the Coast to Coast 2009. DOOOOOH, I can't live with that!

Jeff...., it's lookin like you may need to save up or earn some sky miles or something. I would hate for Marcia to one up you!!! :lmao: You guys are so competitive with your bling!!!:rotfl:

Racey Tracy,

So many things to consider if I can go in January. First is, we're going to Maui from 12/31/08 to 1/5/09.

I used frequent flier miles last January for a R/T to MCO- 70,000. I used frequent flier miles in August/Sept for a R/T to LAX-70,000. I have enough miles for either a January R/T to MCO, BUT, I think I'm going to use them instead for my April R/T to ATL.

Those darn airlines are making it harder and harder for me to use my miles, mostly by doubling the number of miles it takes to get there. I used to fly for 30,000 then it went up to 35, 000. Now it's 70,000 or more R/T from HNL to all parts of the continental US. Let alone baggage fees, and tax.

We'll Mushu does have more WDW bling than me, since she's run at WDW more times than me.

Now that there's the Coast to Coast challenge, Disney is really after my money!!! Good thing I'm a Disney stockholder, and I get like $.79 cents a share each year in dividends. (FYI- I own 4 shares so I'm RICH :lmao: ).

I have to get approval from the Queen and the Princesses if I can go solo.

I get a DVC member discount on the registration, a whopping $10 off.

If I do get there, then no parks this time for me, just do the freebie stuff around WDW. No rental car, take the Magical Express bus. Just worry about meals and hotel.

The good news is I get a raise on Oct. 1st, and a step movement on Jan. 25, 2009. So more funds will be available.

What's it all mean, well I'm a very big maybe...:confused3

Jeff: Hey, you're up on me with the stock.... I only have 2 shares!!

Here it is, another Magical Marathon video (it's 31 minutes long).

Get your popcorn, beverage, a comfortable chair. Now sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Be sure to click on the box in the lower right corner, next to the blue volume control, which will enlarge your viewing screen.

WOW, you are amazing Jeff!!! I still haven't managed to get my digital pictures off of the camera and you have yours organized into a video. Very cool :thumbsup2

Great video, Jeff!

Someone got my DH and I in a photo near the end of the 5k - we're in the 2nd picture after the three Scream Team ladies, DH is in the burgundy sleeveless shirt (on the right side of the photo, next to the cheering section) and I'm behind him (a little way back) beyond his right shoulder, light blue shirt (not to be confused with the two in royal blue in front of me) and sunglasses.

Hope to meet you WISHers next time - maybe next year!
