Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend ** September 2-4, 2011 ** Check-In

Heard that this yera's RnR Las Vegas will be awesome since you will get to run the Strip at NIGHT! Very cool - wish I could be there, but budget won't stretch for it.

Thanks for the link!! I notice you're running the RnR San Diego half in June! So am I!! It also looks like you're running the RI one! That will be a nice race, I wish I could do that one. Gonna sign up for the RnR Vegas when registration opens May 31st!!

I'm actually doing the full. Or trying to, I had hamstring problems Dec/Jan and it went away for a little bit, but it's starting to creep up again. But if I can't get the training in, definitely the 1/2. I did it last year and had a blast. I used to live down there, so I'm just a little biased! :goodvibes Kinda worried about the RI one though weatherwise. It's starts early, so I'm hoping there's no humidity. Vegas looks like so much fun, that one's on my list. I would do it this year, but the Honolulu Marathon is the week after, on my b-day. I talked to my parents and for b-day/x-mas they're helping out so I'm going to do that one.

I am very excited about running the strip at night. I agree, I think it will be very cool. Running the strip during the day would be cool as well! Either way, I'm just excited!

Since signing up for the SD 1/2, I've read a lot of negative things about the finish area. Not really looking forward to that mess. But..I'm still excited to run. I did the RnR Phoenix 1/2 this past January, that was fun. Regarding RI, I agree, in August you do run the risk of warm weather and humidity. But here's hoping you get some Pixie Dust and a nice cool breeze! :wizard: Wow, you're going to run in Hawaii! That's going to be awesome!!!

I'm also doing the SD Half. :)

I want to do this one too!

:woohoo: Another one for SD 1/2!!!

I think I might be addicted to races. I'm not very good at them but I sure do enjoy it!

I'm not too good either but I have fun and that's what counts right?

The other night I was running on the treadmill at the gym and I could see my self in the mirror and it looked like I was just doing a fast walk but I swear I felt like I was running so fast. :rotfl: Oh well as long as it's under the time limit and I get my medal I'm happy. :)

Training plans are online now at Rundisney.com. But still no course map. The one for the Tinkerbell Course does look interesting with running Disneyland at the beginning and California Adventure at the end.

Yeah, last year was a complete disaster. They changed the finish line location from the Marine Recruiting Depot to a parking lot next to Sea World. The parking lot also changed from the airport to Qualcom. When I finished, I had to wait in line for more than an hour to get on the shuttle to take you to the trolley(that was taking you to Qualcom). Luckily the hotel was next to the shuttle and I didn't need to get back there, b/c that line was even more crazy!! Plus, there was no June Gloom~ the sun was out around 8:00. I flew home that night and you could pick out the runners, b/c they were all sunburnt. The parking lot was completely exposed so that wasn't good. We can park back at the airport this year, I'm just hoping that eases the problems with the shuttle and we have June Gloom way longer than 8am!!

Anyways, on a happier note, I went to the GET Travel website this afternoon to check out what their prices were for Tinkerbell in Jan. They had a logo up for the race link. So I'm thinking that's gotta be either the shirt logo or what the medal is going to look like. Here it is:

I can't wait to see the 5K one either!! I'm picturing the giant skull head that was in the water in the movie or something like that.

Subscribing to thread..... not sure how to do that without posting a message.

Not going, but want to learn more about this for 2012!!

I do like the Tinker Bell logo. I'm really hoping that's the medal, as well.

For the SD 1/2, my hotel is right off the trolley stop so it seems I can just take the trolley from the finish to my hotel. But good to know I'll have to anticipate crowds and lines...but then again, by the time I finish, maybe the majority of people will already be gone! :rotfl2: I can't believe we're 3.5 weeks until San Diego. I really am not ready. :scared1:

Course map is up for the 1/2:

Course Map

Desciption:
The course for this magical event will take runners from the Disney California Adventure™ Park, celebrating California's storied past and exciting future, to the Disneyland® Park where you will explore the fantastic "lands" of nostalgia, color and delight. Then it is on to the scenic streets of Anaheim, past the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks, along the Santa Ana Trail overlooking the Santa Ana River, by Angel Stadium, home of the MLB's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and then past Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel and the Disneyland® Hotel for an exciting finish of the Happiest Race on Earth! Ideal weather and a flat loop course set the stage for an exhilarating Half Marathon designed to shatter personal bests.

I can't believe we're almost there either! I'm so excited. I was watching Mexican Made Easy on the Food Network this weekend, and the whole time my mouth was watering thinking of how many of the old taco shops I used to go to, I could get in in the 2 1/2 days I'll be there. :rotfl2: Still on the fence b/w the full and the 1/2. My hamstring has started acting up again w/ the hill training that I've been doing for Bay to Breakers this weekend. I'll know for sure on Monday which one I'm going to do.

So excited about the course map though! :yay: I was thinking it would take awhile in hopes that we would get more DCA and they were waiting to see how construction goes, but oh well! It'll still be a great weekend/run and we've got Tinkerbell in January!!!

Is it just me or does it look like we will not be running inside DCA this year?

I've never been to DL or DCA but comparing the course map to Google Maps, it looks like we travel around the outside of DCA to start and then enter near Monsters Inc make a quick loop through the front of the park and exit by soarin'. On the return trip it looks like we're running thought the backstage area.

I can't tell. That little loop/upside dowm "L" is confusing me. Maybe we go in through the back of ToT, down the Hollywood Blvd down to Soarin. I know a few years back, that's what we did when we still went through DTD to the finish line. I'm thinking the Mile 2 marker is by Soarin, where we came out to DL across the concourse like last year. But I can't tell. :confused3

I think miles 12-13 is outside of DCA like last year but I think you're right about mile 1.5-2.

Did anyone look at the map this morning? I was just commenting on the WISH thread that I swear the map this morning I saw had us running around the stadium and not through the stadium. Please tell me I'm not crazy and the map did change from this morning!
