Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

Just signed up this morning :cool1:

The three of us are participating in the 5k, and hubby is running the 1/2 marathon. Can't wait!

I'm not personally doing the Half, but DH is and I'm looking into buying a chEAR package to get a seat more easily.

Is there a link to the chEAR packages yet?

Found the link for the Chear Packages.

If you go on the race site and click on Spectator Resources you can access the page as well. They have one popup describing the different packages and one popup taking you to active.com to register for the packages.

I was talked into the Coast to Coast challenge by a DL Adventureland CM who was relaxing at the hot tub after the WDW Marthon - the half sounds like a treat after the 26.2 at WDW! I left my family behind for the WDW marathon, but this time I'm bringing my hubby and my 2 kiddos - we're all signed up; now just to book the hotel (Get Travel has awesome pricing)!

Congrats on the marathon! After doing the half at WDW, I can't imagine doing the full 26.2... maybe someday, but for now I'll stick to 13.1 for my long races. Kudos to you!!!!

You're right about the awesome pricing-- we ended up deciding to splurge and go for the Disneyland Hotel. Looking forward to staying in the magic the whole time now! Anyone ever stay there before? Any tips?

I registered for this event at the WDW Marathon Weekend in January. In any event I am excited about this event as well as next weekend Tinkerbell Half.

Just keep running....

We did the same - we'll see you at the Disneyland Hotel in August! This was on my bucket list, and because the event and expo are right there, I justified to my usually fiscally-minded self that there was an additional benefit to staying there (really, I just want to be immersed in the Disney magic, as you mentioned). Oh, and by the way, 13.1 is a major accomplishment - a marathon is just plain crazy! Cheers!

That's EXACTLY the reasoning we used to splurge as well! :) Between the expo, the start/finish being so close to the DLH, and getting to stay in the magic the whole time, we caved. We'll see you there! :) Checking in on Aug 31, out on Sept 3.

I have been thinking about this for a LONG time now so am excited to be a part of this for the very first time! :cool1: Now that registration is open, I must say I am a little nervous about 13 miles.

I know that several of you prefer to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. For those who have to stay off site, which hotel do you recommend? I remember hearing that many people were stuck in traffic. HOJO's would be great but they are asking $140 per night. Embassy Suites has a rate of $104. Any suggestions?

I'm staying at the BW Park Place this weekend for the race, they're around $100 for Sept. and even cheaper if you do the advanced purchase. I've also stayed at the BW Anaheim Inn for the race, but right now I think PP is cheaper. I stayed at the Travelodge last year, it was really cheap like $65, but the walk over the overpass and non-elevator after wasn't as much fun. I also did the Stovall's, but that was a hassel to walk to the start through the parking lot. (Although, my memory of that race year isn't to good~race temps and after were above 100!)

I think if you're close to the crosswalk to DTD, you're good. Plus you can always make reservations and if you find something cheaper and don't do advanced purchase you can always cancel.

**Just went on BWPP site(their own, not the generic BW) to book room just in case. W/ AAA it was $98 pre tax for 2 doubles. If you do the prepurchase and only need a king, I think they had it listed at $87 a night.**

Signed up for the half today! I'm excited to run this event for the second time. Out of the 3 halfs I did last year, the Disneyland sponsored one was my favorite!

When I registered it said the half is 51% full, so if your on the fence, you better jump off and sign up!

I can't believe it's at 51% already. That's faster than last year. Thank goodness the Tink expo is this weekend.

I don't know what I'm more excited about for this race~ another reason to go down to DL or that DCA will finally be done and we'll have more course time around the new area!:woohoo:

I hadn't even thought about that! I really hope they take advantage of this and add more time in the parks to the course! :)

Crazy that they are ALREADY at 51%.... and I imagine that number will shoot up again after this weekend's expo as well.

We are also looking forward to getting out to DL again... have only been for one day, back in summer of 2008. At least this time we'll get a good 2.5-3 days to explore, plus running an awesome race! :)

I signed up this afternoon :) Last year I flew to WDW to run the princess so I could earn my C2C - only to get shut out of last years DL 1/2 :sad2: This will be the second time I run the DL 1/2 - I ran it in 2010. It is a great race - too pricey - but fun. I am glad my diva friends will be joining me :)

I'm excited to get to do this one with some Divas!!

Well, since registration is filling up faster than I thought I guess I'll be registering right now. I wanted to wait until after the Tinkerbell but I don't want to wait too long.

So here I go!!

I'd recommend staying at Hojos or anything else within walking distance (Candy Cane perhaps?). I've stayed at one of the hotels near the Embassy Suites South Anaheim before the half marathon, and took the Anaheim Resort Transit bus (free on raceday if you're a runner). It worked out fine taking ART but it was one extra thing to worry about before the race. The way I figure, there's already enough to think about on race day!

Good luck and have fun- enjoy the race!

DH and I are planning on signing up for the 1/2. Can't believe it's already at 51%! I beltter get a move on it!

Has anyone booked through Get travel in the past?

I just signed my husband and I up for the DL half this morning. This will be my 10th half marathon, but my FIRST trip to DL so I'm SUPER EXCITED!!

But along with being excited, I'm feeling overwhelmed. I think we're going to stay at the HoJo (sadly, I can't justify splurging for a Disney hotel when I'll be at WDW a few weeks later for my sister's wedding). What are your must do DL recomendations for a first timer? We're experienced WDW park goers, and we also enjoy good food and drink!

Does anyone know the cutoff for the amount of runners in the DL 1/2?
Ran the WDW 1/2 with about 26,000 of my closest friends! Does the DL 1/2 have that many?

Just curious about that 51% full already. How many is that.

I will be signing up very soon to earn my C2C. So excited!
