Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

Has anyone booked through Get travel in the past?

I've done the park tix, but not the hotels. But from my past experience, unless you're staying at the resort hotels and have a AAA card, you can get rooms cheaper than booking through them. Especially if you look/book now, you can get rooms at a really good deal.

Does anyone know the cutoff for the amount of runners in the DL 1/2?

Just curious about that 51% full already. How many is that.

I will be signing up very soon to earn my C2C. So excited!

The DL 1/2 is nowhere near as crowded as that. I think last year, it was b/w 13 and 14,000. So based on those #'s I would guess b/w 6,500 and 7 have already registered. I know that the registered runners for the 1/2 have gone up slightly every year, but not a significant amount. I think it's mostly b/c the roads aren't owned by Disney and when you're around the park, the roads aren't as wide as WDW, b/c of that there's only so many people that will fit along the course. The roads aren't small, 2 lanes or so, but once you turn off Ball onto Anaheim, it's industrial and the roads really open and you have tons of space. The nice thing about that is that the course really never feels that crowded. The places where it does bottleneck is when you're entering and leaving the parks as well as when you're entering and leaving the backstage area. So it won't be as crazy!

The 5k is b/w 4,500 and 5.

Hope that helps!:goodvibes

Thanks to all who responded to how many runners in the DL 1/2.
Good to know there aren't as many as in the WDW 1/2.

I will definitely be registering in the next day or two. Hoping I can get someone to go with me. I find it much easier to run/walk with a buddy then to do it alone.

Then all I need is air, hotel and park tickets! LOL

September will be here before we know it!

My sister and I are signed up! I couldn't be more excited! We are staying at Desert Inn and Suites, we've stayed there before and loved it but is it a good location for race day? Meaning, I'm assuming it won't be a terribly long walk to the start?

The way I see it is that it's a good warm up walk. I stayed at Best Western Park Inn and Suites (a few doors closer to the entrance) and it wasn't bad at all. You just walk down the promenade and through Downtown Disney until you get to the Disneyland Hotel. You're about to go 13.1 miles, so in comparison, it's not bad at all! :thumbsup2

Officially registered DH and myself for our first 1/2 Marathon! Don't know if I should be excited or scared! LOL!

We are booked at the DLH Aug 27-Sept 3rd:yay:

@PrincessIM-You should be very excited!!! Congrats on registering for your first half.

I am all set to do my 3rd DL Half as it is becoming an annual tradition for our end of Summer vacation. We are at the DLH 8/28 through 9/04

DW will be running her first Disney race this year doing the 5k and DD is very excited to run the kids race with me again :cool1:

You should definitely be EXCITED! A Half is a huge accomplishment, and you'll feel awesome when you finish!

me, me, me! First race besides a random fun run 5k for me.

Bringing my 2 y/o, my mom, and hoping my sister gets up the nerve to register, but if not she's still coming as a spectator.

reservation deposit placed at DLH, looking forward to checking out the remodel. We recently stayed at GC for my LO's first birthday - first onsite stay for my parents and sister and now I think they are spoiled - I suggested we stay off site because I thought they might want to save money but they were not interested :)

I'm eve more excited for this now that I know I can finish a half marathon! The Tinkerbell was so much fun and I did better than I thought I would despite my lack of training recently. I'll be even more prepared for the Disneyland Half!

They updated the #'s after the expo this weekend. The 1/2 is at 62% and the 5k is at 51%. I was kinda hoping reg for the 5k wouldn't go as fast or that it'll slow down a little. Spent a little too much this weekend! :rotfl:

Is it wrong that I just got home last night, and am now counting down the days until Labor Day?

No, not at all! I just got home less than an hour ago and I already can't wait for Labor Day. I think I'm hooked, lol. I may even register for the Diva Half in the Bay Area that's in May but I'm not 100% decided yet.

Do Bay to Breakers! It's not a 1/2 half, but I'll be there! =)

Congrats! It is certainly addicting, running in the races! We are considering doing the Everest5k at WDW just so we can get in another one before Sept, but are unsure yet if the timing will work. Congrats again on finishing your first Half! :thumbsup2

I just signed up for the Half!

I was on the fence due to the price but I decided I better just sign up.

That it is! I wish I could get out to WDW for a race but it will be awhile before I can afford to get out there. DLR is easy enough for me to get to and not spend a fortune. I think I'm going to do the Diva Half in the bay area in May. I'm just trying to get some friends to do it with me so I can stay there for a night and not have to worry about driving super early.

I love your avatar! That's awesome! I wish I had a brick!

Hey, you and I should switch! It's really easy for me to get to WDW and do races, but VERY hard to get to CA! Those cross country flights are no joke! I'm so excited to come to DL!!

I'm trying to get her to sign up for the 5K.
