Hello everyone!
My name is Leigha and my fiancée, Phillip, and I will be going to Disney World for honeymoon this December! We are very excited! It is even more exciting because it is also our first time ever going to Disney World!
We have already booked our room at the Port Orleans French Quarter resort, our dining plan, and our flights. All of the big things for our trip are done, but there are still a million things to think about and plan!
What I was hoping to know is if anyone has some helpful tips for both Disney honeymooners and first timers? (Packing tips, December weather clothing tips, romantic restaurants or activities, etc...anything you see helpful!)
We would greatly appreciate your advice! :)

Welcome and congrats!! We are staying at the POFQ as well!! Your Disney honeymoon was such a good choice :thumbsup2
There are so many great things to do!! A good site that I use is www.allears.net. It always tells you when things are going on during the time you are there.
Some things we are doing/places we are eating:
Jiko
Citricos
Artist Point
Hollywood Brown Derby (Dining with an Imagineer)

We are having our after wedding dinner at California Grill. It's a lovely place to eat. And they have a balcony to view the fireworks show :)

If you have any questions, everyone on the boards are super helpful!!

One thing I will tell you is not to try to cram too much into your day (as far as attractions go). When I've planned things down to the minute, things always got crazy, (IE, longer lines which makes us late to our ADR and kind of made our surprise anniversary trip nuts), but when we went when we got married, we took our time and did what we wanted to do at the moment and really enjoyed ourselves. I'm planning for us to go back in October for Food and Wine & his Bday, and that's what I'm going to do, wing it.
You're staying at a great resort, so try to enjoy it. The grounds are beautiful and vast, take an afternoon or evening to enjoy it and take a rest from the parks. They have a carriage ride at Riverside, which is just a short walk away, at a small cost. At Riverside there is also a table service restaurant and a nice lounge. There is also a boat ride from either PO resort that takes you to Downtown Disney and I hear it is a nice ride.
You can ride most of the rides anytime, but this is your only honeymoon, so don't forget to take some time and get your pictures taken. I didn't get any and I regret it. There are PhotoPass people everywhere and if you ask, they'll take your picture with your camera as well. If the price tag for pre-ordering a PhotoPass CD is too much, ask around these boards. There is almost always someone looking to split the cost, order the CD, combine yours with theirs (and maybe others) and send you a copy. I did this on our anniversary and it worked out great (was split four ways so I only paid $25!). Also, on that note. Photopass also offers resort photo sessions at a few of their resorts for a decent price. If you share the cost of the CD(s) (which has unlimited pictures) three ways and get the photopass resort photo session, you're looking at less than $100.
Hope that helps! congrats!!

i would also just throw in there, and since you are already here on a message board you may know about all this already, i would recommend some podcast listening as well! WDW today is a good one, short, lots of topics - will definitely have many shows about "romantic things to do" or "things to do on a first trip", how to's etc... lots of nuts and bolts stuff for the newbie and seasoned planner. of course, the DIS unplugged has great reviews and topics.... there are lots out there and can be a great way to get info you might never have known to look for!

enjoy your disneymoon! you MUST check out yehaa bob jackson some night at PORiverside - i think he is tuesday-saturday night? he plays piano in the bar/lounge area in the main lobby of POR. he plays ~ 3 "sets" a night, i would say, usually starting like maybe 7ish, then plays till like almost midnight! the show is free. you will have everyone from little kids to famalies to drunk folks to not drinking folks listening and singing along. he plays songs, does some audience participation stuff - his 12 days of xmas are always fun! :) - he is a great and talented performer - truly a hidden gem! of course, i may be partial because we hired him to play for an hour at our wedding! so if you do see him, tell him lisa and trace sent ya! ;)
