Disneyed Out?

Over the last almost 20 years we have been able to go to WDW an average of 3 times per year. Some of those trips were a couple of days and the longest was 3 weeks last Spring. Our upcoming F&W trip will be the longest yet at 4 weeks and then back in early December for a week.

Some of the trips were business with a stop at Disney, a few we stayed with my sister at FW or in her house close by. We had relative in the airline industry so a lot of the airfare was either free or deeply discounted - only a couple of our trips were by car - a 1,200 mile trip. I know lots of people drive that far but it's not for us. Our daughter lives almost halfway so we could stay free there. Just takes too long. Or did when we were still working. We have been every month of the year except August, have stayed at almost every resort, including FW and SoG and Swolphin. We have never been to MNSSHP but we are going this trip. We have eaten at every restaurant we wanted to, most multiple times. We tried to count recently and we ate at R&C an estimated 20 times. I think that's my favorite. At least it's where I'm most comfortable

We have been very lucky. AND, we have done pretty much everything we have ever wanted to do at Disney. Sometime we have gone to Sea World and Universal, but no much. Our trips always revolve around Disney.

We are very much looking forward to our F&W trip. We have been to F&W six times already but we're ready for some more. We missed it last year.

Friends keep asking us if we're Disneyed out. My answer is, "Not yet!" But I may be getting close. The next couple of trips will tell. We have no Disney plans past December. That is not unusual though because we very often make plans only 3-4 months or so out. We may even take 2014 off. But that's easier said than done.

Regardless, I'm not Disneyed out and have no plans to be. Even though we haven't slowed down yet, we're getting close to 70. That may be a factor in the future. We'll see. Just finished a trip where we hiked an average of 10 miles a day!

Is anyone else getting close to the edge here?

No, I might go 50 or more times a year. Many times just to eat, usually never more than a few hours. But there is not way I could stay 4 weeks. Probably not even 1 week.

Never. Will.Never.Happen. LOL I love it. My DH... he'd be happy if I told him we were never going again. Ever.

I think 2-3 times a year is about my limit, just because I'm usually exhausted after I get home. :lmao: But everything at WDW seems new again after spending a few months in the 'real world' so I don't get sick of going or anything.

So funny that you posted this. :)

I'm not Disney'd out yet, but I have to admit that I'm not quite as excited for this trip as I have been about others. I think the biggest factor is that my DH is, without a doubt, Disney'd out.

We've gone many times over the last four years. We don't live close, so it always involves a flight, and our stays range from 7-10 days. I do all of the planning, but have involved the kids more now that they're older (DS9 and DD7) and can tell me about which rides/characters/ADRs are must-do. But DH is just done, and I get it. Last year was supposed to be our last trip, at least for a while, but then I started getting wistful about the kids getting older. I asked him if he could do one more trip, while DD7 still really believed in the magic, and he surprised me by saying he'd go again. He's still not excited about it, but I think going for the rest of us. And as happy as I am to be going again, I feel badly for him and sometimes wish he'd just said he didn't want to go. I want everyone to have a great time.

So... this most likely will be our last trip, as a whole family. I'll be back in February for the Princess Half, but that'll just be me and one of my best friends. DD7 tells me she still loves Disney and will always want to go, but DS9 love for the magic is starting to fade. I know DD7 would be up for a girls' trip, but we're a pretty closeknit family and I don't know how I'd feel going without DS9 and DH. :(

So yes... although I doubt I will ever be Disney'd out myself, I think that Disney has run its course with DH, with DS9 soon to follow. :(

Never, but we have a cycle that we have to go through.

It goes like this:

1.Have a wonderful 8-10 day trip at WDW

2. Come home and have what we call our Disney hang over-just the thought of Mickey is enough to make us a little sick.

3. Wait a few month until we start getting sick and tired of work and stress.

4. Have the next vacation conversation "Maybe next year we will visit DC or NY or see the Rockies or doesn't a cruise sound nice."

5. Start checking prices on various vacations, sneak a peek to see what the current Disney specials are.

6. Decide to book Disney because we really love/miss this resort, that attraction, eating here and there.

7. Spend the next 6 months getting ADRs and planning, it's part of the fun for us.

8. Enjoy our trip.

Rinse and Repeat.

We have done 2 weeks, but that starts to get a little bit much for us. No way could we handle 4 weeks.

We are 1 week away and can't wait to get there. Will be a little different this time around with it being our first trip with only me and DH.

As you can see from my signature, we go about 1-2 times per year (since 2008). This included a few stints of going 3 times in a 12-month period (from Ohio). After our last trip in May 2012, we both kind of looked at each other thinking, "Ok. We've done Disney. Let's try some other things. Maybe we'll go back in 2015 or so."

So, we went to St. John (USVI) this past January and then went to London/Paris this past May. Before we left for that trip, we even booked a trip to SF and Disneyland for this coming October.

While in Paris, we made the mistake of going to Disneyland Paris. It was a mistake on two fronts: 1) Disneyland Paris is now forever etched in my mind as Bizarro Disneyland, and 2) it made us want to go back to WDW.

So, after some health issues this past summer and wanting some resemblence of normalcy, we rebooked all of our flights and cancelled our hotel rooms for our trip out to California this coming October. We're now going back to WDW in October, a little over a year after saying, "Let's go back in 2015..."

So, yeah, I don't know if we'll ever be "Disneyed-out," but when we thought it happened, it turned out to be a false alarm!

Love it!!! Our journey is quite similar, I always go back to Disney once I start pricing out other places. Plus I love that at Disney I don't have to do anything, but if we went somewhere else I would be the cook/planner/entertainer/driver/kid watcher etc....

Nope. I don't go very often, so I'm always excited whenever we go. I'm super excited about going in May.:dance3:

Since Disney can be pretty expensive for a family of four, we haven't been able to go as often as a lot of people. And my family likes to visit places other than Disney as well. That being said, even if we were to visit Disney once a year, my family would definitely get Disneyed out. Not me so much, but they would.

Not sure if I would call it Disneyed-out but we find that our trips have changed.

we use to go for 8-10 days. now a quick 4 day trip is enough.
We use to eat on site all the time, now we realize that we can get better quality off site (we're foodies so good meals are essential)
We use to go annually, we're skipping next year.
We haven't liked all the new changes at the world. I went to the new msb. I tried it, I hate it. It's exactly like my starbucks in Chestnut hill. If I wear my Disney tee shirt to work it's the same.

We were never the type of people who believed the only place to have fun was Disney so we are really have a great time exploring new places.

last May my entire family went to London and Paris. That was just as "magical" as my Disney vacations.

So while I'll continue to go

This exactly is us!

Great post. Interesting that others ask themselves this same question. We were regular Disney World visitors since the kids were young. Now that we are retired and live in Florida our Disney visits have increased substantially because we only live 40 minutes away from the Magic. Having Florida resident annual passes makes it so easy! Not burned out yet! But, the trip are a totally different approach. It's no longer a master plan and a race trying to get everything in during our visits. Its more like enjoying an afternoon walking about and trying all the different restaurants. Buying stuff for the grandchildren. Taking time to just sit down and look at the marvelous designs and architecture. Seems that we always find something we've never noticed before. Take a ride here and there..no hurries. So sometimes, yes, we ask ourselves that very question. Other parks.. eehh.. maybe you could get burned out... But Disney has a LOT to offer and see. Heck just yesterday we toured the Polynesian Resort before going to MK... just to see it. We'd never been there in all these years. Beautiful.

I don't think I could ever be Disney'd out. Then again, I could never see myself going more than once per year. Disney represents a lot of important things for me and I would never really get those things back unless I somehow went to Disney. It just isn't the same anywhere else. Admittedly, I can see myself making more trips to Disneyland than Disney World when I'm older, but I'll try my hardest to go annually!

I feel like I'd be happy going once every two years. Multiple times in one year might be a bit too much for me. I've only been twice before and had to wait five years between my last trip and the one coming up next week, so it's hard for me to know for sure. But it's certainly been a looooong wait. :)

We are getting there. Not necessarily because the number of trips, more so due to Fast Pass+, Magic Band, and the ever coming changes. I'm tired of keeping up, and if it is going to be a new set of "rules" every time I take vacation, then I might as well try something else.

We vacation once a year out of state. This year will be our last Disney trip for awhile. Next year will be Universal. Time will tell what 2015 will bring.

Disneyed out.... Nope.... Possibility priced out....yes

We've done 49 trips since 1977...doing our 3 trip this year in October ( due to AP's) that will make it trip 50.....

Disneyed out, we see Disney thru a different eye each trip.. Our trips now are way different than in the 70's and 80's.... Now we're seeing it thru our grand children's eyes, and yes we still go just the 2 of us...

Disney has changed, but we changed with it... All this hype about FP's and + and Magic Bands... For us, just more icing on the cake....

Big problem for us is pricing and small discounts for AP holders and repeat customers... we are your supporters ( how about cutting us some bigger discounts)....we've dropped from deluxe after 46 trips to moderate ( more so since most went to queen beds) but mostly price.... I must say, we'll never stay value so if prices rise, we may go elsewhere...won't stay less days, just not go... Right now we're satisfied with POFQ and prices but Disney could, in our eyes, out priced themselves in the future ..!

I'm there but DH really loves it & we are DVC members so that makes Disney an easy trip. Luckily DH has caught on to relaxing days by the pool so we both get what we want out of a vacation.

We will be going 3 times this year and average 2-3 visits per year. My theory is that I'm doing this while my kids are still young b/c pretty soon they won't want to go....or maybe not!

We do it by getting AP's and room only ressies....the swan/dolphin has some nice rates, and we also use SPG points. It is VERY nice to not have that gotta go feeling while at Disney, gotta do and go go go.....because there is ALWAYS a next time for us!

I scrimp and save for our Disney fix. Others have clothes obsessions, dining out, toys.....I save for the trips. To each their own I guess...will we be disneyed out in the future? Who knows...for now it works for my family & we cherish our time together having a ton of fun!
