Just noticed this - not tried a dummy booking though and I'm not sure if the £/euro rate is fixed or just for guidance?

Just gone right thru as far as poss, says £'s all the way so I assume you can now pay in £'s if you want.
Exchange rate they are working on is slightly above full interbank rate at $1.5528 (todays rate is $1.55)
No idea if you have to accept £'s with a UK address or if you will have an option for $'s. Won't know which to go for.
If you can fix the price in £'s now Disney are taking quite a bit of risk, could cost them a lot of money if the £ drops drastically, I guess they could also benefit by a stronger £ when balance is due.
I wonder if my balance has a £'s option or still only $'s as I paid deposit in $'s.
All very interesting:goodvibes

I noticed this last night, we have booked in dollars, went into my booking and still dollars. Trying to work it back the pound price is better than the dollar. Wonder if worth trying to change over, so at least you know what you are paying rather than wait for the exchange rate.

A question, say I decide I want to change my booking into pounds and I ask for a refund.

I know I am being a bit dumb here, but bear with me.

If say when our deposit was paid the exchange rate was 1.40, but when I ask for a refund it is 1.50 does that mean I will not get as much deposit back as I paid?

Thats correct, I paid double deposit for August 2009 cruise at $2/£1, $1200 = £600 it cost me, I considered cancelling due to the financial turmoil, the rate was $1.40 so I would have got £847 back, gaining £247.

Just at the moment I am waiting for a credit from Hertz, they took $1,300(can't remember exact amount) £801 by mistake, when I get it back I could win or lose depending exchange rates.

That is what I meant in my 1st post, if Disney are fixing the price now in £'s they are taking the risk instead of you the customer.

if i ask for a refund, and then book again in english pounds, that means we lose about £88 because of the exchange rate. Cannot decide if better to rebook in english and know what paying or hold on to the dollar price to see if exchange rate gets better - ah !!

This is an interesting development. We're going to book our first cruise in pounds then, as it'll be easier to keep track of payments.

I noticed this the other night, I got all excited as the prices had gone down so much , was just about to tell my husband when I realised the prices were in pounds not dollars-doh !

I wouldn't cancel and lose £88 myself.

With me, I realised you could get price in pounds, changed to pounds, then for a moment forgot had changed it to pounds, and thought it had gone down alot - nuts I am :rotfl:

Two things I have just thought of.

1. If people book in pounds will they still be able to get a full refund up to the payment date?

2. Does this mean that UK residents can finally have a disney brochure and DVD?

I reckon that in the next year, it will be more widely known at disney do cruises, as at present I do not think alot of people know this.

just looked at disneycruise.co.uk, rather than .com and this is what is says

"Currently all prices and purchases are in US Dollars on the web site, but may be booked in GBP through the call centre"

I was looking at this earlier as we are thinking about a med cruise for next August. In the terms and conditions it talks about exchange rate fluctations. There are specific terms and conditions for UK guests in a drop down box. See below.

Prices and Extras
All prices are based on costs and exchange rates as of the time of booking. Prices can be varied due to changes in transportation costs such as fuel, scheduled airfares and other airline cost changes which are part of the contract between the airline and their agents and Disney Cruise Line, government action such as changes in VAT or any other government imposed changes and currency changes in relation to an exchange rate variation. No change to the Contract price will be made where the variation is for 2% or less of the price of your Contract. Variations over 2% will be charged to the Guest. If the increase is an increase of more than 10% of the price of the Contract, the Guest may cancel the Contract and receive a full refund of all monies paid except for any administration charges or insurance premiums. No consequential costs or expenses or loss of profits will be payable. Should the Guest decide to exercise its right to cancel where there is an increase of more than 10% of the Contract price then the Guest must exercise this within 14 days from the date notified or presentation of the further invoice. Alternatively, the Guest can accept an offer of an alternative Cruise or Package if Disney Cruise Line is able to provide an alternative and transfer payment is made in respect of the original booking to the alternative Cruise or Package. If the cost of the alternative Cruise or Package is less than the original Cruise or Package, the difference in price will be refundable.
