PLEASE READ THIS BIT TOO!

Hi,

Thanks to DIS I found out about the Disney Club (Thanks Mazzy!) and have just visited the website to sign up.

I was just wondering though if any of you could share some of the times you found the club useful, and tell me about the benefits and reductions the card entitles you to.

Also, I heard that you can use it to get discount room rates at disney hotels, is this just WDW or all disney resorts? Plus do you have to ring the hotel direct to make use of this and book you flight seperately??

Thanks everybody in advance!

I have also posted a poll about what you think of the card.

Hi

I will renew for the magazine alone;) I am hoping to use it to get discounts too!!

Kaylee

I am in my second year of membership.

I bought it first time round because we had a trip to WDW planned and I was hoping to use it to save some $$ in the restaurants in the parks, and of course on shopping. The discounts for rooms etc didnt bother me - we were in a villa.

Every time I brought it out when paying for a meal - I was told they didnt give discount with it - but if I paid with Amex then I could get a discount! Lucky I have Amex too - so got a discount anyway.

I did get a discount for the tons of stuff I bought in Downtown Disney though. You dont get discounts in the shops in the parks - wait till you get to Downtown to buy all your souvenirs in World of Disney.

I got more benefits when I used it in DLP though - more than I expected! We got discounts in Restuarants and on shopping.

I wasnt going to renew - being as I wasnt planning on going back - but then Shirley and I decided to have our Girls on Tour break - and the card fell for renewal the same week we decided so I renewed it and I feel sure I got back more than what I paid for it with the savings I made on shopping.

I have till March to decide if I want to renew again - who knows, if I manage to wangle another trip then maybe I'll renew! It might be an omen!!!!!! LOL

To get the cost back from the card it really depends on how much you use it. If you take advantage of resort discounts and ticket discounts it soon pays for itself.

To get room discounts I think you have to book through the Disney Travel service and not CRO. This is ok apart from a slight change in rules on cancellations and paying for your room.

I also found it was difficult to find a Disney shop in Olando that accepted the DC card. The ones in The Pointe and Orlando Airport didn't!

It also helps if you remember to use the card

We are into our third year of membership for the DC and to be honest will definetley be renewing it.

I have never used it for getting discounts on room rates, but have used it in the Disney Stores both in the UK and FL no problems.

Hi Richard

Glad to be of help! ;)

If you have already booked a package with a UK Tour Operator which includes accommodation and flights, then I'm afraid you won't be able to use your DC Card on your accommodation unless you can change your booking to just a fly drive, you will have to pay to change your booking, but it may work out that the DC saves you a lot more than the charges to change.

You can get a discount on all WDW Resorts, including the Swan and Dolphin and also Disneyland Paris bookings. I booked the Dolphin directly with the hotel and had no problem getting my half price room. You will find 'official' Disney Resorts discounts vary, up to 40% I think if I remember correctly. To book these you need to ring Disney Reservations on 001 407 934 7639.

I have already used my card several times to save 10% at the Disney Store here in the UK.

You can also use it to get a discount on your passes. www.wdwig has a great section which shows the discount you get with DC card on various passes.

HTH :D

Me too Richard! When I think what I paid in 2000 for our package with Virgin which included passes, I could kick myself! Never mind, this year we are getting a good deal so better late than never! :D
