Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

So I enrolled my kids and placed the ticket order, but the tickets are not being shipped, I'm picking them up at the Will Call window. What happens if the class gets cancelled? Will we still be able to get the tickets even if the class gets cancelled?

We have 6 kids in the August 9 Wild by Nature at AK. Wonder if anyone else is signed up for this so we would know if it will run?

Has anyone registered for Ocean Discoveries on July 4? Seemed odd to me that they would offer a program on the holiday, but its also the only one that was offered during our time down there.

Also - what is the turnaround time that most of you are having on receiving your tickets purchased through here (theme park tickets)? I ordered on Feb. 20, so we're only at a little over two weeks ... but Im anxious!

My two boys are registered for this class as it is the only one offered during our time as well. They are 12 and just about 9 years old. I think we got our tickets around 2 weeks after we ordered them, so you should have them soon. How old are your kid(s) that will be there?

The Disney YES (Youth Education Series) program allows you to purchase deeply discounted park tickets (we went in Nov with our homeschool group and the tickets were about half price) in addition to providing unique opportunities to get behind
the scenes at Disney World. We just got back from a trip that
included a YES program for Homeschool Connections and it was terrific.
We did the American Story program. In January you can go without a
group. See below for details.

Event Information (you get to attend one event, sometimes prior to the parks opening - which is cool and a little eerie)
January is Open Enrollment Month!
Disney Y.E.S. programs are now accessible to students in first grade
through 12th grade who are not traveling with a group. On the dates
specified below the Disney Y.E.S. programs listed will be available
for individuals to enroll. (A minimum number of participants must be
reached for each program to be activated. Purchase of a ticket does
not ensure program activation. You will be contacted if the minimum is
not reached for your selected program.) A responsible adult over the
age of 18 from each family must accompany the students attending the
program.

Hi, we will be in Disney May 31-June 9....I have two kids 12 & 16 who would love to take part in one of these programs. Do I have any options for my dates? I looked on the website and it looks like the individual programs dont start until June 14.
Thanks

Our little guy turns nine about a month before we get down there. Unfortunately only one of us gets to go with him to this program, though ... and dad won the coin toss. It happens - Im going to look at the bright side of additional sleep that morning.

We are in the same situation as you are! I've read on here, in the past, others that had one kid but two parents were able to attend. I'm hoping others will chime in and confirm this. I remember reading everyone showed up together and they let the other parent attend as well.

We haven't done our coin toss - yet, because I'm hoping we can all three go together!

Hope this helps
Heather

What times are the classes generally held? If the same class is being offered for different age groups on the same day, would they be at the same time or different times? I'm considering the World of Physics: Energy and Waves | Individual Enrollment class on August 22 but one of my kids would be in the 8-11 class and the other would be in the 12-17 class. I'm just wondering how that would work.

Yipee  Just got home and the tickets were on my porch. Not going until July but so happy to have the tickets. :cool1:

Just an FYI I spoke with Ashley this morning. She called to clarify something on my order. She processed us for the Aug 23rd Wild by Nature class and told me it is now closed due to capacity being reached. So those that were booked for this class it is a go! :thumbsup2:cool1::cool1:

They seem to be 8:30-11:30 in the morning or 9-12.

They will try to see if they can offer you an alternative class but if it isn't possible you will still get the tickets issued to you. :)

I have not heard of second parent being allowed to attend, but that does not mean it has not happened or cannot happen in future but on YES site it states 1 group leader per 10 kids with Groups and 1 parent per child with Individual. Maybe if they aren't at maximum on number of kids they allow extra adults to participate :confused3 Call YES group and ask, they are very nice and helpful answering questions. Hope you will post back how it works out for you & good luck :goodvibes

Classes typically take place early in morning, some before park opening and others at park opening times. Here is link to times for classes from June through August for Individual Enrollment

Call YES group and see if they can have both kids placed in same class - the age brackets are more of a guideline and there is some flexibility; if one child is within year or so to being 12 than that child can probably go with older group or if your older child recently turned 12-13 then they can probably go with younger group. We took this class Aug 2010 and our group had kids who looked as old as 15-16 and two kids that looked (& seemed) as young as 10-11 yrs so it seems they try to work things out because I think one of the older kids and one of the younger kids were from the same family.

Good luck :goodvibes

So tomorrow is when Sept/OCt dates may be realeased but we cannot register for them for a few more months correct?

I don't think that is correct. I believe that IF they are up tomorrow then we can register for them tomorrow. Where did you hear that you can not book for a few more months?

The summer schedule was out for a while before you could register for the classes.

:-( I just got off the phone with Ashley. She said the dates would not be up tomorrow. They hope to have them up by the end of the month. They are still finalizing the dates. UGH! We should set up shifts for checking the website so we are not all checking five times a day:rotfl:

You know, it never occured to me that there might be some flexibility in the ages. I just assumed that the ages were firm just like the ages for child vs adult park tickets and child vs adult pricing at restaurants. My youngest will be less than a month after her 11th birthday (we're listing it as our celebration this trip) and our oldest will be 13 but she's autistic so she tends to be immature. I'll call and talk to them about the currently enrolled ages of the kids in the class to find out what they'd recommend.

Thank you!! You've been very helpful!!
