Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

Interesting. I thought someone previously had been told it included ONE class but you had to purchase additional classes.

I was confused about this, that's why I asked.

Here is what the Homeschool Days Ticket Packages website says:

"Choose the package that's right for your homeschooler. Enhance a Disney Homeschool Days learning experience with a multi-day pass that lets students spend more time in the Theme Parks.

Disney Youth Education Series programs are available for an additional $26 fee. All children 12 and under must have a responsible adult on the program with them. Children 13 and older who will not have a parent or responsible adult with them MUST have a parent/guardian sign them in and sign a waiver in case of emergency and must be present in the same park as the program their child is participating in case of an emergency. "

The individual enrollment tickets include one YES class. The homeschool tickets include the homeschool presentation (not one of the YES classes). You can purchase additional YES classes with both types of tickets.

Last January the homeschool presentation was about an hour long with time afterwards for the children to talk to the engineers.

What if we want to go in July, but my child does not turn 5 until August? Will they ask for proof of age and will she not be eligible if she isnt 5 yet?

I am so thankful for all the information on this thread! I just booked YES program tickets for our family for our January trip. Our son is going to love the Wild by Nature program (I hope). AND we're getting park hopper tickets because we can save on admission prices. We've never hopped before, and we're looking forward to having that option on this trip. Yay!

We hopped last summer for the first time and we won't ever forego that again! We went to MK almost every night. Some days, we went to a park like DHS in the morning, then took a break and went back to Epcot from 7-9pm and then took the monorail for MK until closing. We had the best time closing every night with Space Mountain

Anyone try to register for the June 14th classes yet?

When I saw they had Open dates in June, I moved a trip we already had booked back a week so we could do a class. We just got back from WDW. We did a YES class w/ a group. It was great , but a lot of work went into it.

But when I called YES to wrap up some business from last week's trip I asked about registering for June. She said they were not taking reg. yet & o try back at the 1st of the year.

During Homeschool Days there is special presentation at one of the parks. The presentation is included in your ticket price. Your ticket DOES NOT include any of the YES classes. If you are interested in any of the classes, you have to purchase each class seperately for $26 per person.

so what are the 'presentations' like? only the people who purchase tickets through homeschool days can go in?

can anyone help me w/ comparing this pricing to just regular pricing (like for an 8 day hopper, etc)?

Yep, that is right--the discounts are deep for this program.

The difference is:

With Homeschool Days you only go to the presentation (1-1.5 hours) and not an actual class. The CM I spoke to said that the people talking usually have really cool jobs at Disney (animal caretakers, Imagineers, etc). Only people who buy the HS tickets can attend, and I think there is only one presentation (at least in January). If you want to attend a YES class you have to add it on to the price of your ticket for $26 per person per class.

With Open Enrollment one YES class is included in the price of your ticket.

Price comparison (using 10 day hopper tickets as example):
Homeschool Days: $183.21 (add $26 if you want to attend one class)
Open enrollment: $193.71 (one class is included)
Regular price: $316 (adult)

If you have a child who falls into the right age group for one of these classes, it is well worth it to sign up for the program. Everyone in your group receives the discounted price on their tickets.

I am planning on signing up for this for February. I will need to attend with my daughter, as she is only 7. Any thoughts on what to do w/ my son? He is fine in his stroller with his ipod....i'd rather not hire a sitter for him.

ANyone have any experience with this?

This program is so unbelievable, I'm looking for the catch. In fact, I asked the CM when I called about it and she said "there is no catch. Disney wants to provide students with an educational experience and make it easier for families to access the parks." I always thought they were just about making money!
Anyway, we are a group of 7 (3 adults and 4 kids). I registered 2 middle schoolers for the Captivating Moments photography program in February at EPCOT. All 7 of us got park hopper tix with waterpark and DQ admission for $200/each. My kids will love the program and we saved well over $900 off of the 7 day ticket purchased without using the YES program.

We'll be going to WDW 9/2/11-9/10/11. Do those dates qualify for the program? There is a total of 8 ppl., but only 3 are kids; 9 year old, 8 year old and 4 year old. I see that a parent would need to accompany each child for the class. Who's able to get the "yes" ticket prices? Is it just 1 adult/per 1 enrolled child? or can a whole family get the same deal? I also don't see any classes for any of our dates on the "yes" website, so does that mean they won't be having any? I though I saw an email address for a "Sarah" that's a contact person for Disney and the "yes" program, but I'm now unable to find it, does anyone have it? TIA!

I think that the Sept 23-24 Ind. Enrollment YES programs will probably be the only ones in the month. The website indicates that there will be Homeschool Days in Sept., but they are around the same dates that the YES program is offered.

If you still want to participate, you can organize your own YES group of 10 or more students. Each student, plus one adult chaperone per student, would get the discounted tickets. I think the coordinator might get a free ticket, but not sure. There is a thread about a December 2010 YES group that might give you more info if you want to do that.

At Worlds End where did you see that the YES program for Sept would only be Sept 23 and 24? I see Walt Disney Land's but not WDW.

Hi! I just finished going through ALL 70 pages of this thread to make sure I wasn't asking something already addressed.. WHEW!

First of all, thanks to the person who gave such a detailed account of the Properties of Motion class!! Beautiful!

On to my question:
I am trying to decide on which class to bring our group to and I'm wondering if anyone has been to The American Story & can give an account of what all was involved. I'm particularly interested in which attractions are showcased & the Role-playing in Frontierland. It sounds interesting, but I'm not sure if it's a better fit for my group than the Properties of Motion.
