Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

So is the responsibility of the group leader to simply organize, purchase, and distribute the tickets? Communicate the info about where and what time to meet?

Yep, that's correct. However the group leader is also the one accepting liability for the students showing up for the program. Since in a traditional setting it is a teacher bringing his/her class, it is the 'teacher's responsibility to make sure kids show up. It's good to keep in mind that if a large number of students no-show, that would bar the teacher from bringing his/her class to do another Y.E.S. Program. But just make sure everyone wants to show up and does so and no problems at all :)

Ok...I have a question! If we do open enrollement in january and get the tixs through YES and add a room ressie (someone on here said they give you that option when you call to schedule your YES class), can you get the dining plan? Also, can you take advantage of any of the discounts such as Room only or the Buy 4/3? Would that be considered "stacking" discounts?? Anyone had experience with this??

I know we will want the dining plan and any type of room discount we can find, so I am wondering it will be "too good to be true" to get the cheaper tixs through YES too!

Help!

Leigh
Nope, you can only book rooms through Youth Group Programs if you need 10 or more rooms. So if it's just your family, you'd be booking a room only reservation through Disney Reservations and your tickets through the Youth Group Programs office. You'd have to pick between discount on tickets or choosing the dining plan.

I personally recommend taking the discount on the tickets. In reality, the dining plan is probably saving you on average 10-15 bucks a day IF you're good at using it, where as the tickets could easily save you over $100+ per person.

Just my personal suggestion though... not that I've done the numbers hundreds of times... ;)

My friends slept through their animation class this morning. And not "I slept through the class, oops, thanks for the cheap tickets", but "#$@& we slept through the class. #$%^ we were really excited to go." I am so bummed for them...and me! I was hoping to hear about the class! They were hoping maybe another class would have availability, but no go. :sad1:

ETA: A warning to those thinking of just skipping the class for the cheap tickets: The woman I spoke to said if you don't show up they will not let you register again for any other open enrollment classes in the future. So you will be blacklisted. And, like previous posters mentioned, if people start not showing up they will stop running this program and that is not fair to those who really like the classes!

:rolleyes1
shame...for several reasons......I guess the "fair" thing is to cancel the tix/upcharge to correct cost, but disney would not do that...OR would they? :confused3

I foresee a "rule" in the future that perhaps unless its medical/emergency....tix would be forfeited?? Especially if they see a trend........:sad2:..
I think over sleeping is just lack of respect/responsibility :headache:, but thats just me..I know you did not have to post this, so Thanks....cause perhaps its a Good reminder to everyone out there that OPEN enrollment is such a "gift" to those that are not home schooled or part of a class.....and the classes are Good, again, a shame! Vent over....its been a rough morning :lmao:

Anyone know about how far in advance they put up the open enrollment class schedule?

We were supposed to go to a YES class during our June trip, but my son got viral strep and was in bed for 2 days. I called that morning(they give you a number you can call starting at 6:30am) when I was sure he was not going to feel better and let them know he was sick. I have since tossed the diagnosis form from the Minute Clinic. I'm wondering if it is only people that don't show up without a call/reason that they blacklist? I guess I could call the Minute Clinic and see if they could send me a copy of the diagnosis/treatment sheet if it might help me do open enrollment again. We were really bummed to miss it, but DS felt like crap and I wouldn't have wanted to expose anyone else. We went to MK for about an hour that night, but had to leave because he started feeling bad again. That dang stuff lasted about 10 days on and off.:guilty:

August-October 2010 is now available. It is called "Individual Enrollment" though.

And it is not obvious. Go through the procedure to purchase the tix to see it (but cancel out before actually buying)

Woo-hoo!! Just registered for my 2 girls for Aug 16! 5-day base tickets for 5 adults...$714. Saved over $400 over ticket broker prices:goodvibes Couldn't be happier!!

Thanks, Disboard/Budget Forum!!!

If it were me yes I would get dr's visit copy and mail it with a courteous letter saying how very disappointed your child was & that hopefully, in the future he will have the opportunity to participate. idk who exactly to address it to, maybe Heidi ? but I know I have seen another CM's name mentioned here many times as well. It can't hurt and it certainly might help just in case they are compiling a list of no-shows.

:goodvibes

Lucky you, I hope your girls really enjoy the experience, and the savings is great too. I was so disappointed not to be able to participate when we return, there was nothing for HS'ers....wonder if they gear more towards younger ones???

I ordered our tickets on Monday and they came Fed Ex yesterday :goodvibes I think I'm more excited about doing the class than my kids! I hope they continue the open enrollment in the future. I think it's great to have a learning experience mixed in with the magic of Disney.

We are also in that class, 2 kids 9 and 11. I wish there were more that week and also one for my Highschooler. See you there.

Does anyone know how far ahead the Aug dates were posted? Hoping to go next Aug and wondering how much time we'll have to plan.

saving this thread. I'd like my dd to do it in January if I can manage to figure it out by then

You may have something there...since this is the end of summer season, they probably don't anticipate much older students wanting to register...although this class is 3rd - 9th grade. I have a high school junior that can't take a class...but I don't think he's too upset.

We just watched Finding Nemo again last weekend so my girls are beyond excited!!

Oh, yeah...Great! My girls are 12 & 14. I also have a junior that can't attend. See ya in a couple of weeks:)

That's a fast turnaround. I wanted to have my tickests shipped, but since we were leaving two weeks from the day I registered, I didn't want to risk them not arriving in time. I wish I had done so anyway. Now I'm stressing that we won't arrive in time (we're driving in) on Sunday to pick them up from will call @ DD...and our class is the next morning.

Sorry I didn't get to see them! The class was excellent. I loved my guide as well. I hope people do not play the game of not showing up. The class was educational and well worth it. I hope and pray my children will be able to participate in something this great next year! If they do offer it my children said they want to take more than one class :goodvibes

when will open enrollment dates for next year come out?we are going to wdw during easter 2011(4-23/4-30) and would be interested in doing the program
