Disney Y.E.S. - Too Good to be True?

Hi all -

I'm new to the board, but I have a question for you veterans . . .

I signed my 14 y/o DS up for a Y.E.S. event, through open enrollment. I am his adult chaperone. We have six other family members just going to the parks, so I bought 8 four day Park Hopper tickets through the Y.E.S. program. I asked a Y.E.S. representative if that price extended to everyone, even those not attending an event, and she said yes.

So, we got 8 tickets at less than half price for 2 of us participating in a 3 hour educational experience. It sounds too good to be true. Has anyone participated in this program? Did it work out for you? Are there restrictions I am missing?

TIA!

Dawn

YES, it is that good! I enrolled our 2 kids in a class and bought 4 10 day premium park hopper passes for about $200/person. Our trip is in July and I have the tickets to be picked up, but I asked a lot of questions and the CM assured me that the program is as good as it sounds.

We are here now through YES and have been in the parks since Saturday. Our class is not until Thursday morning. I have had no problems. I think the big thing with the YES program is if you were to cancel your trip, the tickets are useless(only good for the days printed on them) Our trip dates are 6/18-6/25, and our tickets have the dates 6/6/10-7/2/10 printed on them. Worked out great for us, we got 2 7 day hoppers for around $330!

brenelmom - I am participating in an upcoming YES program, and my understanding was that you could buy 1 non-participant ticket for every participant ticket. It looks like you were able to buy more non-participant tickets than that... How did that work?

I have two participant children, and have four non-participants. Should I be able to get YES tickets for everyone in our party?

Torinsmom - what class are you signed up for next Thursday? If its the Imagineering course at HS...were there too! My son Max is signed up and our friends and their 3 boys. Maybe I'll see you there.:)

I was the in June; we have been home for almost a month now. :-(

The only negative is that the tickets cannot be changed, etc.

I did see on the YES site that they can be refunded up to a week before your arrival date.

wow, I didn't realize that! I guess they just can't be changed! thank you. :)

Thanks for this info Torinsmom! :flower3: We're planning on a YES class in late Nov. and one of my big concerns is that with 2 aging Grandpas, one in failing health, we may need to cancel our trip due to a medical emergency. Of course, that could happen less than a week before the trip, but it's nice knowing that we have up until that point if necessary.

Your tickets are also dated for one week before your arrival date and one week after your departure. So, even though we were only there for 10 days, our tickets were good for almost a month. You could always put your arrival and departure dates more spaced out than they really are to give you some leeway to reschedule your trip if something comes up.

I believe it is only possilbe to buy more non-participant tickets than you have participants in a Disney Y.E.S. OPEN Enrollment class. If it's not an Open Enrollment Class, then the 1 additional ticket for every 1 participant rule applies.

does anyone know if classes are offered in august? i cannot find the dates offered and their yes office is closed till monday. thanks

is there anyone/any place that is coordinating 2011 groups to do any YES programs? Open enrollment may or may not be in place at the time we wanting to do some programs in 2011.

thanks torinsmom. does anyone know if the give a day tickets can be used for yes program? thanks

You can't upgrade the YES tickets, so I don't know how you would use the GAD tickets, unless you bought tickets good for one less day and used the GAD tickets for that one day. You can't use the tickets to get the YES tickets for less, if that is what you mean.

We used out GAD vouchers for the special fastpasses. We had planned on using the vouchers for tickets, but we saved a lot more money with the YES program and boy were those FPs nice to have!

Signed my kids up today for our August trip and got an awesome deal on 10 day premium tix!!!! Thanks all for sharing this. We saved a ton of money and we all get to do something we've never done at disney before!
