Disney Y.E.S. Program

Would my sister be able to buy YES tickets for my DS and her family? Here's the story: DS will be 13 at time of travel, he's going with my sister, her DH, and their DS2 and DS4. Would my sister be able to get YES tickets for them all and have my DS13 take a class without a chaperone? I know that she would need to check him in and remain in the park where the class is. Is this even possible since they have different last names, and not immediate family but she would be his guardian on this trip.

Even if they do ask for last names (I honestly can't remember if they do or not), my kids and I don't have the same last name since I am remarried. So that really doesn't matter. Yes, she is his guardian on the trip, so I don't think it will be a problem. But because lots of people divorce and remarry and kids don't always have the same last name as their moms, I don't think they would question just because his last name is different.

I am just learning abou this and it looks great! The problem is that all the classes that will be held during the time we were planning on traveling (Aug 17th - 24th) are Closed/ Full. Should I assume that we are out of luck or have you ever seen cancellations like you would with ADR's? I don't want to keep checking every day if it is a waste of my time. Also, do you pay for the tickets when you sign up?
Thanks!:flower3:

The tickets are non-refundable, so I doubt you would see people cancelling and spaces opening. But it wouldn't hurt to call or email and ask. Perhaps they will decide to add more classes since they filled so fast.

I just went and looked at the website again. There are many open classes, but everything that week is closed. We will be there then (Aug 13-24, but taking classes on the 20th) and fortunately we signed up the first day registration opened. I wonder why that week filled so quickly.

Thanks! I thought it was strange too. There are openings in most other weeks in the summer.:confused3

I was just lucky enough to get the last Wild by Nature spot in the Aug 7th class:banana: It closed right after I bought the tickets! I was getting nervous waiting for payday to come around lol I am so excited to take my son to this class!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Just booked our tickets! My dd's will be at the Capitivating Images and Synergy in Science programs on 10/2. I'll be sending the deposit on our rental house today, too. I can't believe it's finally official. I need to go update my ticker & sig, and buy some travel insurance!

We are visiting that week Aug 12th and also signed up.

Hi Tink! I had just signed my 2 sons, daughter, niece, & nephew up for this class with my sister-in-law on Wednesday. I'm sure the 5 kids between us took up a good chunk of that class.:rotfl: Glad you were able to get in! The kids are super excited!!:yay:

P.S. What part of PA are you from?

Hi Jenna!

I guess we are most of the class! l live in Lancaster County. What town are you from? I look forward to meeting you in August!

I was able to book the Making Waves class earlier this week for my daughter and her friend ..believe that was 8/20.

Turns out that we are going to drive to WDW this summer. We have not finalized all the plans yet but there is a possibility one of the YES classes would work for us. What happens if you purchase tickets, pick them up and use them but have to leave before the class? We are not sure what our final plans would be until we get closer to the date but I don't want to miss out on the class if it works. Any advice?

Don't buy them if you don't know you can stay. It's not fair to others who might want those spots in class and it jeopardizes the program for everyone else. There are rumors of being 'blacklisted' or being charged the difference in ticket price, but it's just wrong to do regardless.

I really want to do this for our trip in Aug. I do have one question though, what happens in the case of an unforeseen issue like a hurricane.? We are traveling during hurricane season. Does anyone know if trip insurance would cover the cost of ticket prices? It is still a lot of money and I would hate to plan this whole trip and then not be able to fly in or something. I am not buying a WDW package so I was looking at pricing out insurance separately. I don't know how to tell if tickets would be included in that insurance price. Thank you for your help. My kids are really excited about the classes. I really hope it is going to work out.

It would depend on your specific policy. Just get confirmation from the carrier before you purchase it that the policy would cover your tickets in the event of a hurricane.

You are required to attend the class if you purchase the YES tickets. If you are not sure if you can attend the class, do not buy the tickets. They can charge you and will not allow you to buy these tickets in the future if you do this.

Thank you.
Does anyone have a travel insurance company they would recommend? I am thinking of using the one that was recommended by Mousesavers.com but I am open to suggestions as I have never purchased trip insurance before.

Just wanted to give a heads up...we had to cancel our class for Oct. 16th Wild By Nature. I'm having some complicated health issues unfortunately. Hopefully someone else can take our spot, there were five of us. I think it takes a few days to cancel in their system so I'd imagine the availability would show up later in the week.

Thank you.

We are going in August too and I shared your concern about hurricanes. I purchased our insurance through SquaremMouth.com. They have a great search engine that allows you to compare policies of various companies. I used that function to compare the hurricane and weather coverage from various insurers. I ended up buying a policy from Global Alert that includes coverage if a hurricane warning is issued wihtin 24 hours of departure, or if there is a mandatory evacuation or the complete cessation of flights for 12 hours.

Were you able to get a refund on tickets for cancelling the class?
