Disney Y.E.S. Program

Does anyone know if you use your Disney Visa to purchase tickets if it falls into the same category as a trip - i.e. 6 months interest free?

No, they are not billed by Disney so they don't qualify.

Just signed my two oldest up for Wild by Nature in July...I know its going to be hot but they don't like to wake up early and the only other option for us was a class starting at 7:15 am...and for that they would kill me LOL...So instead they will be hot!! :cool2::cool2::cool2:

Thanks for all the information on this thread! :)

We are signed up for Wild by Nature for this summer...my dh and our older three sons will go while our youngest son and I do our own thing. Then we'll meet up for lunch.

The class sounds like it will be a neat experience and we're thrilled we got a great price on tickets!

:cool1:

This is simply out of curiosity for those of you deciding NOT to do the Wild by Nature due to heat. Why? You are going to be in Florida. Yes it will be hot but the class is first thing in the morning so it isn't like it is in the hottest part of the day. Plus no matter where you go you will be spending most of your time outdoors in the heat anyway. Now if the class were from 1 -4pm, I could completely understand it. We are taking it in October (which will still be hot) but I certainly will be taking along bottles of water for our crew. I hope anyone taking any of these classes would do the same - no matter when or where they are!

Obviously, everyone is entitled to do what they want but I am just so surprised that so many people wouldn't attend the class they really want for this reason.

We're doing the Wild By Nature class in October and I'm not too worried. Like you, I plan to bring lots of water and face cloths to soak if it gets too hot. However, this class sounds like an amazing and cool way to experience AK that we wouldn't normally have. It's in the morning at 8:30am and should be done by 11:30am. From what I've read, part of the tour is on the safari (covered), part of it is on the Maharajah Jungle Trek (lots of shade) and part is on the Pangani Forest Trail (partly covered). I'd imagine that if it gets too hot, the tour guide would make water stops as well.:thumbsup2 We're really looking forward to it!

OK, *this* is the type of info I have been looking for! I had not decided either way on the AK class but yes, I was a bit concerned simply b/c all I was reading was walking, walking, walking 3 hours in the heat, heat, heat...You read that enough and you start to think "maybe that isn't such a good idea". Yes, going to FL and we know it will be hot but very different to be able to take a break vs. stuck out in the heat and no break.

Also, my hubby has been reading stuff too and all people say about AK is how hot it is. Someone said it could be 30 degrees in FL and it'll still be hot at AK :rotfl: And that you go to AK if you need to warm up. SO, that might be where my concern and others are coming from.

But, again, reading what the pp said makes me feel LOTS better. As long as there is some shade and covering, I think it'll be ok. My argument to my hubby was that it was not at the hottest time of the day either. Of course, most people say AK is a 1/2 day park. Normally, we'd be leaving the park by noon but taking the class in the morning, means we will be there in the afternoon and it will be super hot then. Still seems worth it to me.

We chose not to do Wild by Nature because from what I have been reading, it is ALL outside. Yes, we normally tour the parks at that time, but that's a mix of indoor and outdoor things, so we get some AC breaks. We also have the option of heading inside any time we want. I don't think I'd choose any class in September that takes place entirely outdoors. Our other option is inside the Seas pavilion, so we will opt for that one. Three hours of 95 degrees and humid, vs three hours of air conditioning, lol, it's almost a no-brainer! DD was actually a little more interested in the Seas program anyway. *I* am the one interested in the AK program, lol. :thumbsup2

For all those worried about the AK class in summer, don't be. It really is no worse than visiting the park yourself for the whole day, and in fact better because the CM is very conscious of keeping people in the shade, taking water breaks and not pushing anyone too hard. This was our favorite class, and we are planning on doing it again. It really does give a whole new look on AK and how it was envisioned and designed. Schedule yourself lunch at the Tusker House afterwards and you have a nearly perfect day. :thumbsup2

We are doing the same one at AK mid August. I think I'm more excited about it than my son. It's a whole new way to experience the park!

Would my sister be able to buy YES tickets for my DS and her family? Here's the story: DS will be 13 at time of travel, he's going with my sister, her DH, and their DS2 and DS4. Would my sister be able to get YES tickets for them all and have my DS13 take a class without a chaperone? I know that she would need to check him in and remain in the park where the class is. Is this even possible since they have different last names, and not immediate family but she would be his guardian on this trip.

Yes, she would be his guardian and the whole family should be able to get the tickets. They don't even ask for last names of kids on the registration form.

Just FYI, this may have changed. My registration confirmation (for August classes) has all three of my kids' last names, so I must have entered them at some point during the registration. However, many families have more than one last name, so I don't think that anyone would even question you whether or not the child was yours based on the name.

Thank you for the responses.

Does anyone know when they might post the schedule of available classes for 2013? I know it's a while away, and the actual registration won't open for a while after that, but we are trying to get an idea of dates and school vacation times, etc. They are thinking of renting DVC points, and the 11 month window for June will be here before they know it.

This year the summer courses came out Feb 7th, so that doesn't really help for planning a year in advance.

I believe there are classes offered at least one day each week (I think mostly on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays). The only issue would be age requirements. If you had several children of different ages, there would likely be something at least one of them could take, but if there's only one child there may not be anything in a certain week. (For example there's only one class during the whole month of August that a 5yo could take)

ETA: I see from your previous post that you would be looking for classes for a 13yo. There are many classes that a 13yo meets the age requirement for, so it would be fairly likely that you could find at least one class each week that would work.

For those that have done many of the programs, could you tell me which you would prefer for two 14 year old boys: Wild by Nature or Properties in Motion?

I currently setup Properties in Motion due to the roller coasters, but have not seen one review of the program.

We're living on the edge and also doing the Wild by Nature in October. :thumbsup2 It's starts at 8:30 am and I agree, what's the difference between touring and the class? And I'm guessing the CMs are well versed in working with children and will break or whatever accordingly. Not worried. :goodvibes

My apologies if this has been asked and answered ... I didnt read through all the pages. Are there any reviews of the Captivating Moments program? That's dd12's first choice. Any thoughts on that vs Everyday Chemistry? Thx!

I am just learning abou this and it looks great! The problem is that all the classes that will be held during the time we were planning on traveling (Aug 17th - 24th) are Closed/ Full. Should I assume that we are out of luck or have you ever seen cancellations like you would with ADR's? I don't want to keep checking every day if it is a waste of my time. Also, do you pay for the tickets when you sign up?
Thanks!:flower3:

Thanks for the info. I would have hoped that the schedule was posted earlier than that to help plan the dates of the trip. I guess I can get a rough idea from this year's schedule.
