Disney Y.E.S. Program

Can anyone that has attended the Wild by Nature program tell me if the students see any spiders? My daughter has Arachnophobia and I really don't want her to be traumatized if she attends this!

For an issue such as this I would call and ask them directly. What may happen in one class may not happen in another.

If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, you can call and have them changed and pay the difference. Some people here have done it. Once they are issued, they are not upgradeable. We are leaving next Thursday and I plan to add water parks/DQ to the 2 tickets we didn't originally had that on. I know someone posted the phone number, so I'll go look.

So, the number is 407-472-4676. I called and Dave answered the phone. He was able to upgrade my hoppers to premium tickets. He said sometimes it is not possible to make changes closer to your arrival date, but we are arriving July 6th and he was able to do mine. BTW, I told him that he has a reputation for good customer service over on the Disboards and he was very humble that he's just doing his job. Gotta love a guy like that!

I replied to my confirmation email and received a response from Dave stating that they can be upgraded the tickets up until two weeks before departure. We leave on the 7th so I'm passed the two weeks, but I'll give him a call tomorrow anyway. Thanks.

I would definitely call tomorrow. We leave on the 5th and our class is on the 9th and I was still able to change mine today. It depends on when they print the tickets, I assume.

We attended Wild by Nature last October and there was nothing with spiders. It has to do with the animals at Ak such as the bats and tigers and the safari.

Anyone know when they will release individual program classes for November? We are still hoping for Free Dining for our stay, but in case it doesn't pan out, we may do room only with YES tickets. --Katie

They have only been offering classes Jan-Feb and June-Oct, so it is highly unlikely they will have any classes in November this year.

They don't do classes in November. They are only offered January, February, and June-October. Hopefully you'll get the free dining!

We went to the World of Physics: Energy and Waves on June 18th. We loved, loved, loved the class.

I can see where some PP'ers might have missed signing in, because our class started at 9am when regular guests were entering at MK entrance. It was crowded and somewhat confusing. Just look for people wearing a polo shirt with Y.E.S. logo imprinted on it. (They do not hold up a sign or anything.) First go to the staff with the clipboard to sign in. Then they will assign you to a group where you get a name tag.

As a PP mentioned, you can end up being in the same group if your kids are different ages. They offered our 9 and 13 yr old to be in the same group which worked out nicely for picture-taking since we only had one camera.

The class is very organized and the teacher was great! I think her name was Megan. We started with some instruction on sound waves followed by demonstration/child participation. Then we went to see Stitch's great Escape.
As someone questioned earlier, you do not have to go on a ride if you do not want to. A lady in our group did not want to see Stitch so the instructor just had her wait at the gift shop at the end of the ride.

Our favorite part was at the Haunted Mansion when we talked about light waves. We got to go behind the scenes to learn how those ghosts are made. This was truly AWESOME! (My oldest even made his own using the same techniques he learned when we got home yesterday.) The instructor told us that going behind the scenes like that was truly special. She said only a certain percentage of cast members even get to go back there.

We ended the class at Mickey's Philharmagic which incorporates the light and sound waves. Our class ended at about 11:30am.

We had the 8 day premium tickets. Because we also went to Universal, we only went to the waterparks and Disneyquest for 4 days, so I cannot confirm if the waterparks and more expire after 5 days or 8days. Our tickets did say we had 8 days though.

Hope this helps some of you and hope you all enjoy your class as much as we did.

Thanks for your great review of the class. It is one of the ones we are hoping that will be offered while we are there next June!

We just returned from WDW and our kids did The American Story class at MK on June 20. We had to meet at the TTC at 7:15. We got there about 7:00. It was really weird getting to the TTC parking before there were any CMs there directing traffic. Parked right up front and walked over to the TTC, met with our group and then took the monorail to MK. This was one of the days they were having trouble with the monorail, so we had a little trouble and it took us a little longer to get over to the MK. Then it was fun walking into the MK before opening. They have a rule, though... no pics allowed in any area of the park that isn't open yet. So we were able to take pics on Main Street, but then when we got to Frontierland/Liberty Square, she said no more pics. This was kind of a bummer for me, but I obliged. We could see BTMRR running empty over and over. We got to go on the stage at Hall of Presidents... that was super cool!! Although the presidents were a little creepy up close. We did some educational stuff and then walked over to BTMRR where we waited to be first in line for the ride. As soon as 9:00 hit, I started taking pics. :goodvibes Got some pics of empty Frontierland, pretty cool. Also took a pic of the CMs leading the guests into Frontierland. Rode BTMRR and then I thought we were going to ride Splash, but instead we went and rode Haunted Mansion. Then back over to Hall of Presidents where we watched the show together. Then some of the kids got to ring the Liberty Bell and class was over. It was a very cool class! Kids learned about bartering and about the presidents, lots of great stuff. I think it was the best class we have done yet. :thumbsup2

I was able to change my tickets from 5 day to 7 day premium :yay:

Dave is a super nice guy. He should be recognized for his exceptional customer service.

My boys took the How Things Move class on June 18th. They both loved it. My DH attended the class with them and he enjoyed it too. He said their instructor, Camilla, was great. They rode Dumbo, Goofy's Barnstormer, Winnie the Pooh and the Peoplemover (they actually didn't get to ride this one because it was broke down at the time). The instructor did a "mini-lesson" before the ride, the class rode the ride, and then the group discussed how the ride moved. The kids played with magnets and drew a picture of an amusement park ride they'd like to design. They even acted out how some of the rides moved. My kids already told me they'd like to take another class sometime. I'm so happy they had the opportunity to have this experience.

On a side note, we also had the 8-day premium tickets and we did have 8 admissions into the waterparks and/or Disney Quest. Like a PP, we only used 3 of those admissions but I just wanted to let those know that you should get 8 admissions into the waterparks and/or DQ because I'm sure some of you are going for longer stays and are counting on those admissions.

Thanks for the review. I've been searching for a detailed review of this class from someone who has taken it and you are the first person that I have seen to post one. My DD8 and DD6 are taking this class on August 20th. We have been talking it up for a month now and I think they will really enjoy it. Thanks again

Just back... my daughter went to the Ocean Discoveries class.. it was great! We arrived at the Epcot Flag Pole around 8:30 and our class was finished around 11:15 or so.. the class had around 25 and we broke off in group of 7 or 8. It was perfect and educational! Great class! My daughter looks forward to taking another class on our next trip...

Could you please elaborate on this class? It sounds fantastic! :)

Omg yes he was great I purchased back in March, and it didn't allow me to purchase tickets for my DD4 who's to young for a class, so I kinda came to the conclusion that we would have to pay full price for her :sad1: But I decided to contact Dave & he's awesome! Truly goes out of his way to help with any concerns and make this trip "happen"! Thanks so much Dave!:thumbsup2

Has anyone ever done a class is January, as an individual? If so, do you recall there being classes during the first week? We are going for New Year's and want to know our chances for getting into a program. Sounds super fun!

Sorry to repeat your answer. Somehow I missed this...until I saw it right at the top of the thread just now. Where it's been all along. LOL!

We are all registered but they didn't have the photography class available when we signed up. Now I would like to add that class (and pay for it) for my son. Has anyone been able to do that? Thanks

Same request as PP... Any way you can give us a review with more details??? We're trying to decide with parent is going with my DH and it'd be nice to know more about the class!! :goodvibes

My family has participated in the yes program once before and attended the Wild By Nature class. I wrote a quick review here but I am sure it is long gone with all the other posts since. We loved it and the kids still talk about it till this day! Thanks Disney!

I am planning another short trip with friends feb 2013. Can anyone tell me when the yes program dates were for the 2012 year? I have searched for an old calender and can't find one anywhere. Was it for the whole month or just the first 2 weeks? I just need to have an idea so I can get an idea of prices for the room. I understand the exact dates won't be out until october-ish.

Thanks in advance!

Does anoyone have any recent experience with the valid ticket window for the YES tickets? Last year they were valid two weeks prior and two weeks after -- of course they start once you use them...
